The QPR summer transfer rumours thread on 14:17 - Aug 15 by PlanetHonneywood | The remainder of his Toon contract will have been paid up to some extent; so it's not as if he's going to be short of a few bob. He won't realistically expect to continue earning comparable wages so he might be happy to get reasonable wages in lieu of getting more playing time. However even if we were to bring him or Colbeck back are they fit? Whatever preseason they've done, I doubt it would allow them to walk straight into any team and I suspect either would be a good few weeks off being ready. |
Ah right, hadn't realised his contract had been terminated early: agree that if Newcastle have paid him off, that makes things easier. At the same time, I've seen people saying that he was on £50k a week at Newcastle, of which Portsmouth paid £6k - if that's anywhere near accurate then surely it'd be too big a step down to what we could afford. The point about fitness is a good one, but from memory he was pretty consistently available when he was here previously, wasn't he? Also doubt he'd be the sort to slack off too much, wouldn't be surprised if he was training somewhere even as a free agent. I guess we'll see, but even if he needed a few weeks to get fully up to speed I still think he'd do a job for us.

I think it's definitely wages that'll be the issue. If he's willing to take 7-10k a week to play with us then that's alright, but we don't want to be handing out 15k+ a week to players with no resale value. In other words, love to have him back at the right price for the club.

The QPR summer transfer rumours thread on 16:05 - Aug 15 with 5332 views | HAYESBOY | I'm in two minds about Hayden. I think we need a left back more. We have when fit, Morgan, Madsen, Field and Varane for middle two places. If we could get a left back and then the remaining math's mean we could offer him a contract then ok.

He’s a very different player to Morgan and Madsen. Neither of them can do the holding midfield role. It’s crucial for us and also a position that gets a few yellows….
The QPR summer transfer rumours thread on 16:09 - Aug 15 with 5274 views | DavieQPR | When you look at how much clubs were willing to pay to loan him, and there weren't many, plus he has some Newcastle money in his pocket I don't think he would be too expensive for his final years. Don't think 'The Project' will bother him much though.
The QPR summer transfer rumours thread on 21:10 - Aug 15 with 4774 views | Hooparoo | He is a natural leader and a calm presence so if his wages aren’t too high I think he’d be a good one to have around what’s now a fairly young team. Certainly helped us last time with his experience.

But he is a very similar player to Field and especially Varane. I just think a specialist left back is more important after the Larkeche news.

The QPR summer transfer rumours thread on 22:27 - Aug 15 with 4500 views | ChrisNW6 | I think he started well for us during the loan but didn't have much of an impact over the last 5 games, which kept us up. As said, solid experienced performer and definitely would add to the squad.

We've given long contracts to Larkeshe, Dunne and Field this summer and I don't think any of them have much resale value. The priority with a new player shoiuld be does he improve the team and those around him, as a club we've become obssessed with how much we can later sell them for which rarley ends up being much anyway. Hayden on a free is a no brainer, adds depth to midfield and walks into the first team
The QPR summer transfer rumours thread on 12:30 - Aug 19 with 3164 views | terryb | I have no knowledge of the truth of this, but I've heard that we are trying to sign Alex Matos on loan from The Pensioners. Apparently he is a 20 year old defensive midfield player who played 20 games for Oxford United last season & 19 for Huddersfield the season before. Has anyone else heard anything about this & whether he actually makes/wins tackles, or is just another "playmaker"?

Does it Matos? This obsession with kids by Nourry will get him thrown off the internet. We need gnarly experience and we need it NOW.

Great business flogging him for £2m I think. We might even have a sell on clause as well 🤣. L1 at best though. Anyone know how many he scored so far for Brizzle?

Never been more disappointed in any QPR youngster. Was convinced he was going to be huge.

Two established 27yr old Championship players, would argue they are just reaching their peaks and we could make a resale profit on both. Larkeche will be on low wages and only 22yrs old, he could probably drop a league or back to Scotland for a profit as well.

3 goals in 1557 minutes (36 appearances) last season according to Transfermarket. Not scored for Bristol since November. We did very well to get someone to pay for him but to get £2m is great business. I'll be surprised if he's higher than League Two by the time his contract with Bristol is up.

Pompey dont need him in all reality. They already have on their books Andre "The Giant" Dozzell. So they well stocked with brawn and brain in the middle...... Next question ???
