It's going to be Gary O'Neil, isn't it? Must be. The people's choice.

"I can't wait" says Gary.

"Ever since I lost a tooth and sacrificed myself in a Wembley final for the cause I've been longing for the chance to test myself in a proper Championship dog fight relegation battle at Loftus Rd and doing it with no strikers and an attacking midfield of midgets just adds to the challenge. Not to mention going toe to toe with a control freak rookie boss. You can keep your poncey Premier League."

Ruben Selles might not be staying at Hull. I'd be all over that if so. Given the job he did at Reading being the mess that they are, he could probably cope with our job. Easy to say they stayed up by the skin of their teeth at Hull in the end, but the fans have taken to him, its just the crazy owner there constantly wanting something new.

Would be a great move, but I imagine he has no prior relationship with rotexo and so a non starter.

I think we are going to maintain our sensible FFP approach and let Nourry take over first team coaching affairs as well.

If you can do two jobs, three will be easy enough.

How are they making Wayne Rooney 10/1 ?

Why would anybody in their right mind appoint him as manager of a football club.

Well appointing him would certainly unite the fractured fanbase.

I'd like to be in the room when Nourry tries to explain the head of performance farce to Muslic, he doesn't strike me as someone who will take any shit

He'd be my choice as well

It’ll be an unknown EuroBoy, age 20, who has never done the job before but has 21 years of experience having read coaching manuals in the womb.

Doubled barrelled first name and 11 surnames handed down by family.

Those possessed by devils, try and keep them under control a bit, can't you ?

Think it highly unlikely we'll be hiring anyone currently employed elsewhere or paying compensation. Like WBA, I imagine we may have our plate full with that as it is.

Also, it's a buyers market. A lot of decent coaches out of work. The idea that Championship clubs not in receipt of parachute payments will be paying anything more than the most basic compo is for the birds. I'd say look at the names of coaches not in work and deduce who's most likely to fit the game model.

I definitely think Paul Furlong is hugely underpriced (what with not being priced at all).

Ticks a lot of boxes: shows career progression at the club, has worked successfully up through the age groups, knows the current Development Squad inside out, knows the first team players, has had a very successful season, knows the level, commands respect, company man, senior football voice at the club by some distance (other than Sinton), and a great story if he wins the cup (watching the Brentford highlights I sense this may be a step too far).

Could form a pretty dynamic coaching team with Betsy and possibly Impey, Hyde takes over Dev - it's a lovely little bit of PR for the club. And he's got a song already, plus huge credit in the bank with fans 30 and above.

I love Furlong but this would be like throwing him under the bus getting the gig now

That doesn't mean they wouldn't do it. Name a manager/coach QPR haven't thrown under the bus.

They may not appoint Furlong, but they will definitely be thinking of a development coach from somewhere. Chris Davies, Steve Cooper, Luke Williams, Kieran McKenna etc etc all came up from youth coaching...they'll be looking at someone who is ready to make the same step up they all did. Ryan Mason and Gary O'Neil are both on bookies' list but they're both just U23 coaches who've stepped up (with various levels of success).

The idea will be to appoint someone like that from a youth development background (in which case, Furs ticks a lot of boxes), or some European coach the data speaks highly of and/or is connected in some way to the board.

Oh yeah I completly agree they might go with Furlong or similair, it's the trend at the moment to go for those type of coaches

Furs would be the second oldest manager in the league this year, second only to Chris Wilder. I'm sure the club will go for someone younger with more future potential, I'm also sure that ship sailed many years ago for Furs

I'd also be worried that if it went wrong for Furs that would tarnish his excellent reputation here.

Never knowingly right.

Yep, could be Ainsworth all over again.

Seen Richie Wellens linked on London World (clickbait) and he's name-checked on Finney's podcast. I wouldn't be against it by any means but it's not one I can see happening, especially if he gets Orient promoted via the Play-Offs.
