In an exclusive interview with The Hounslow Herald, CEO, club doctor, first team physio and head of putting the cones out, Christian Nourry was quoted as saying.
'In the epoch of data and PSR, the most efficient way of operating a second tier football association club of this geographical importance and significance is to run it as lean as possible. With that in mind, we will participate in the upcoming 25/26 season without a head coach, or any new signings. This will allow us to chiefly be financially prudent but also optimistically competitive. The idea a squad could sort themselves out has already been tested to good effect at QPR. Alec Stock didn't take training much, leaving it to his assistant Bill Dodgin. Dodgin used to leave the squad to themselves. Turned out quite well in the end. [Post edited 9 Jun 14:48]

Well, this church had pretty much arrived at this conclusion on page 1.
Personally, I say fkuc it! Let's just have a quick poll on here prior to each game and the top 11 play. True, we might play several games with a rush-goalie but if it works, we'll be hailed as tactical effing geniuses. Oh, and we're going two up-top...'kin 'ave it!!

I genuinely do not think it's a bigger risk promoting Paul Furlong from U23/Development coach to 1st team coach than appointing a hot, young coach from France like Stephan.
Furlong has played over 600 games throughout the English pyramid, played (and won a trophy) in Europe, played non-league, played several hundred games in our division, won promotions, coached under a variety of very notable managers; has all the badges; has coached at every age group at the club for over a decade, coached the development squad for a few seasons, has just won a cup, does not need time to assess U23s or wider squad. As head coach alongside Betsy and whoever is his Jackett-style mentor figure, why is that so odd...? Has far, far better credentials than, say, Tom Cleverley.
Why is Furlong a bigger risk than the attractive date name from Europe Julien Stephan, who has only coached in France, and only for a few seasons?
As for putting "another legend through the ringer" - let's remember how he hard he had to work for that status, the absolute dog's abuse he got for the first year or so. He's a tough boy who has heard the very worst of QPR fans.
If he wanted it, interviewed well and had a plan i would give it to him. QPR want to be a club with a pathway, after all. | | | |
