I'd heard Leicester can't afford to get rid of RVN until the new financial season starts, so they can dump the cost on that year

Damn Was hoping (sort of) that Marti would get that job to get the Boy King out of a hole and things could move on our side of the fence. That fella don't half look like Michi Frey in a cap though!

Add Sheffield United to your list. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cn84wd7v5deo I'd take Wilder but doubt he'd drop to our level. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

If this is true then fcuk me this club. Man who was popular with fans and players, working miracles with both hands tied behind his back at times, possibly in demand with other clubs and we actually cods up the approach meaning he and his backroom staff get substantial pay offs thus eroding this years budget. Absolute fcukin clown show

Maybe giving the keys to the sweet shop to a 27 year old control freak wasn't the best idea We will learn the hard way and as per usual it will be us the fans who will suffer

Not really & if MC hadn’t got his clowns to talk to WBA it would never had come to this, what else could the club do? say Marti your a naughty boy & slap his wrist & say forget it & don’t do that again.

Bit of a mess, but is there any reason why we can’t just continue with his backroom staff. Tell them you can’t do any worse than the previous two August to November’s boys, here’s your chance to prove you don’t need MC and make a name for yourselves. You’ve got till the end of November, anything above the bottom three by then will be considered a result.

Would depend on what Julien Stephan wants I'd say. The reason we lost John Eustace was because Snake Beal wanted his own backroom staff

Most head coaches/managers bring in their own assistants and who usually leave when the coach/manager goes. It's normal practice. I'd imagine Calm will be off when Stephan arrives, and probably Betsy as well.

What else could the club do? Well a number of things but i'd start with not putting him on gardening leave. There was one meaningless game of the season to go. What exactly was the downside in letting him finish the season and seeing how the next 4 months before the next fixture played out? Not exactly any urgency to the decision was there? Either WBA or someone else makes an official approach and we decide what to do from a strong position to negotiate, or they don't in which case we happily go into next season. Its not uncommon for people to look for other jobs that might be better opportunities while they have one. Most rational companies will do what they can to make a valued employee feel wanted to mitigate the risk, and if the valued employee does get another offer, try and match it and if not try to find an adequate replacement - in the football world there's the added benefit that the club gets compensation. Maybe we could have tried that approach?

Of course, I was pretty much saying this in my response to Steve. Xavi will follow Marti although I hope Betsy is kept around in some facility. Was impressed with his interviews and conduct for the Sunderland game

The relationship between Noury and MC was broken and MC was always going, either voluntarily or booted. Everyone was aware of this. Yes, the gardening leave thing is weird, pretty sure it's a legal thing to reduce payoff, but he was never going to be here next season. I'd like to know how fans would react if MC stayed and then sodded off mid season to say, WBA or Boro? What then for us? If your manager is not 100% committed then he can't be the manager. Sooner we announce the new one the sooner this thread finishes.

Bit of a naive take. MC was going regardless as the relationship was unfixable. Either he went or Nourry & Hoos went which quite right was never going to happen.

People talk to new Employers all the time. It's even more commonplace in football. The grown up approach was to keep your powder dry and see if you could actually get a bit of compo. Our course of action meant we lost all platform for a negotiation on a release fee from other interested clubs. Power trip position, pure and simple, and it's properly screwing us now.... form both ends. I withdraw my Clown Show allegation.... some Clowns are actually experienced in their role and make the Circus move along nicely

It’s really dragging on now. Get the new guy announced asap so the Cifuentes love in that some still have can be forgotten. He was never committed to us for long although how much he rates himself must’ve been knocked by all the prime Championship jobs that have come and gone without his name being in the picture. Naive to think he’d rather wait for a new job when people start getting sacked mid season: which manager wouldn’t want to start a new job in pre season?

If he went and we had a chunk of cash to spend in the January window then I suspect we could survive. As stated before I thought the idea of having a DoF was that these things don't effect the team as much and the succession planning would kick in and we'd have some candidates lined up to replace him. As it stands we're essentially saying we're better off losing money rather than losing a manager mid-season which suggests they're not confident that they could manage that transition. I think LBlock has nailed it with clown show tbh.

We didn't put Jimmy Dunne on garden leave when his clowns were talking to Sheff. Utd or even Williams when he decided to moonlight for the NY Mets. Rangers would have been wise to let it play out and await an approach to ensure release clauses were activated. Instead, we've backed ourselves into a corner, and can't move forward until the situation is resolved with either paying Marti off (adios release clause) or he gets another job and good luck getting his bew club to oay up the release clause. Clearly we didn't run it past an employment lawyer before shooting from the hip. Maybe, if the owners weren't so hands-off, they'd seek a reprochement with Marti and issue an AI generated press release announcing the departure of the actual clown at the centre of this mess!
