The QPR summer managers rumours thread on 09:20 - Jun 19 by TheChef | Well it's just another case of the club dipping into the Westport loose change, isn't it? |
intresting theory , does make u wonder why hoos was rumoured to be shouting his mouth off to anyone close by about marti in one of the games near the end of the season ,thats as unprofssional as it comes in my book. think nourry has missed one small point with the new manager coming in and getting rid of his buffer between the fans marti. when / if it goes pete tong and the new manager has history in going on very long winless runs . whos gonna take the flack ? the coach ? or noirry . remember last season fans were chanting the managers name on the back of a bad run which rumoured to have kept him in the job , will the fans get behind the new guy in the same way or has nourry oppened a can of worms which he wont like when it does open . obv will give the new guy a chance but his records isnt brilliant lets be honest . how much of a honeymoon period will he be allowed by the fans ?

Obviously I really hope he starts reasonably well with some attractive football and wins us over quickly. I would argue his managerial record is better than Marti's, although unproven in the Championship. Managed at a higher level, winning a cup and qualifying for the CL for the first time in a clubs history is respectable.

The QPR summer managers rumours thread on 17:51 - Jun 18 by lassel | No. They’re going to pay him up in full with a clean break as the club quite rightly doesn’t want him lingering in the background still on the payroll if/when Stephan has a run of a couple of bad results and the twitterati turn on him. |
Is this true? I thought, even when a manger is paid off its a "settlement" that means a percentage of the contract, so they are able to work again. Also, like a transfer its not all the money in one go is it?

It kind of depends. There's apparently usually a clause where you'll get a years salary to cancel the contract. But, it depends what has been negotiated. Think top level managers tend to have compensation clauses in, or get their full contact paid up. Lower level managers will accept lesser terms. In Italy it's normal to just tell the manager he's no longer on charge but continue to pay them their contract, which is why you'll often see a manager be employed again by the same club after getting sacked, because they're already on the payroll. Think Graham Potter was getting paid by Chelsea up until he took the West Ham job.

Yeah, you normally get to see the managers on SKY acting as pundits during this period. I think it signals "I'm ready to work again" to other clubs

And some of that punditry shows that they shouldn't get jobs, doesn't it, Tim? | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Having got used to cowboy boots and jeans, then the casual approach of Martì - this style is a bit of serious change. Are we really up for this? Discuss … at least three pages worth surely (especially after coffee made 3 pages in a day!!).

The QPR summer managers rumours thread on 07:39 - Jun 19 by JamesB1979 | The board is fully controlled by Reuben, it’s not a 3 way split as you suggest. So a decision regarding Marti would have come from him. |
Ok , I’ll bite, as the usual suspects crying about ‘ITK’s go strangely quiet when it supports their point of view . Most of what I say is conjecture , not all, I have a slither of info coming my way , but not anything important , so I’ll take your word for it James . As I said before I’m all for people sharing stuff they’ve heard or whatever . It’s why most of us are here (not sure why a couple are ,but it’s up to them ) . But how do you know this ?

Looks as though he probably has an account at Devred which gets my approval. I sincerely hope there's a 'no gilets' clause in his contract. He turns up to a match wearing one of those and I want him gone, immediately.

We got rid of a decent and much loved manager and we expect an upgrade not a regression. Good luck to JS, he will need it.

The QPR summer managers rumours thread on 12:55 - Jun 19 with 1664 views | TK1 | What's the accounting period for each year of the Championship's P&S end? I know it's June 30 for PSR in the Prem - if it's the same, I wonder if that's a factor in the gardening leave, allowing any contract settlement payment to Marti to be pushed into the next period? I'm not sure where QPR are in the three-year cycle currently.

This is definitely worth a thread of its own (in time). From what I’ve seen I approve of Julien’s sartorial choices. Very Robert Wagner Hart to Hart era or even chess-playing Spock on his day off.

Is that what happened with Taylor Richards.

Well, it can't be great. In 2024/25 we were said to be pushing costs into 2025/26. Wages for some our signings were weighted low in the first year with a big increase in second and subsequent years. Last season, we seemed to stretch the spending with fees for Madsen and Clear, albeit we don't know the exact cost or spread of payments. Cook triggering another year will be expensive, Jimmy and Frey won't be particularly cheap as well as Gareth and Dobbo, Neil Critchley and now Marti to be paid off.

There's a lot of going around in circles on this thread! This isn't a secret. Ruben's the major shareholder, so he controls the board. [Post edited 19 Jun 13:31]

This is the point, isn't it? Normally a new man comes in, give him a bit of slack as he settles in, new environment, new league, new country etc. But Monsieur Stephan, through completely no fault of his own, will get none of this. Everything will be immediately compared and contrasted to a popular, respected, talented previous Head Coach Whose Name Shall Not/Cannot Be Mentioned. It has to go well - considerably and clearly well - for the club right from early August. And that pressure is, apparently, totally self-inflicted. [Post edited 19 Jun 13:41]
