The QPR summer managers rumours thread on 13:43 - Jun 18 by Ned_Kennedys
It’s really dragging on now. Get the new guy announced asap so the Cifuentes love in that some still have can be forgotten. He was never committed to us for long although how much he rates himself must’ve been knocked by all the prime Championship jobs that have come and gone without his name being in the picture. Naive to think he’d rather wait for a new job when people start getting sacked mid season: which manager wouldn’t want to start a new job in pre season?
He would love I’m sure to have a new role now, but he was never really in the frame for any of them and was never walking away from the thick end of £1m settlement.
If he wanted any job he could’ve taken half a dozen outside England but like lots of up and coming young managers they want to be on the extremely lucrative English football merry go round.
The new guy will be exactly the same too. If he’s half decent he will be looking to move on up asap and if he is crap he will happily take a lucrative payoff.

We didn't put Jimmy Dunne on garden leave when his clowns were talking to Sheff. Utd or even Williams when he decided to moonlight for the NY Mets.
Rangers would have been wise to let it play out and await an approach to ensure release clauses were activated. Instead, we've backed ourselves into a corner, and can't move forward until the situation is resolved with either paying Marti off (adios release clause) or he gets another job and good luck getting his bew club to oay up the release clause. Clearly we didn't run it past an employment lawyer before shooting from the hip.
Maybe, if the owners weren't so hands-off, they'd seek a reprochement with Marti and issue an AI generated press release announcing the departure of the actual clown at the centre of this mess!
Comparing the contract situations of Jimmy Dunne and Marti Cifuentes is pointless and irrelevant.

The relationship between Noury and MC was broken and MC was always going, either voluntarily or booted. Everyone was aware of this. Yes, the gardening leave thing is weird, pretty sure it's a legal thing to reduce payoff, but he was never going to be here next season.
I'd like to know how fans would react if MC stayed and then sodded off mid season to say, WBA or Boro? What then for us? If your manager is not 100% committed then he can't be the manager.
Sooner we announce the new one the sooner this thread finishes.
The garden leave was a silly idea, naive and a rash mistake.
You're absolutely 110% right, that relationship was broken. Been saying it since last summer. He was always going to go this summer.
So your options are...
1 - sit down like grown ups and agree a settlement (you're having to do that now from a position of weakness anyway) 2 - sack him. Try for gross misconduct if you like, putting it about to rival clubs last summer and this. But you're gonna end up paying him off now anyway so makes no difference. 3 - sit tight, say fck all, let him get another job. You greatly reduce the likelihood of this happening by slapping a 'damaged goods' sticker on him and giving him an excuse to go and sit on a beach with full pay. Cifuentes has no incentive at all to move now, or accept a lower pay off, and the situation will put other clubs off him and trying to extricate him from it.
They were so desperate to pull the trigger they took that West Brom thing and did this, which has now put us in this position, where even Ned thinks it's dragging a bit!

The problem is do you really want a head coach who has made it clear he wants to leave stinking the place out for the summer and into next season? If Cifuentes really was in demand by other clubs but the compensation pre-gardening leave was a problem then surely he would’ve been picked up by now as QPR would accept nothing to be rid of the fecker. I think both QPR and Cifuentes have over estimated just how desirable his services are.

Well apologies for liking a QPR manager that in my eyes did an excellent job with a terrible squad. "The worst QPR squad ever" - is I believe what Dave Mc called it.
Look - if Nourry has picked right and Stephan leads us to top half at Christmas I will come on here and say - you were right, Marti wasn't all that.
But if we are deep in the mire by then...perhaps the MC love-in was actually well founded?

Once again Ned, even if Cifuentes was on the shortlist for any of the jobs, why would he give up a substantial payoff now that the toxic relationship has turned nuclear?…
And as you’ve already ignored, I’m quite sure Stephan didn’t grow up with QPR duvet covers, so if he gets us a comfortable mid table finish this season his agent will be working the phones like crazy to get him a move just like Cifuentes’ did last summer, so by your criteria the only managers worth appointing are those washed up enough to have QPR as the height of their ambitions

So your mate Cifuentes would rather sit twiddling his thumbs for 6 months rather than take the numerous highly paid jobs you think he could have got so far this summer? Instead you believe he’s going to prioritise jobs in the autumn once the transfer window has closed and he will inherit somebody else’s underperforming squad and the previous manager has been sacked.
Absolute nonsense from you. As usual.

Just a question - if Cifuentes gets a pay-off wouldn't part of that be conditional on him being out of work, and therefore not payable if Cifuentes took a job soon afterwards?

I will say again, i can clearly recall at half time in the stoke game, Marti having a heated, on touchline debate with someone on the phone. I didn't imagine it, it happened. For some reason, it reminds me of:

Well if that’s the conclusion they’ve reached then fine, I can understand that. I’ve laid your three options out. We were so desperate to be rid we got itchy trigger finger.
I mean the French guy is obviously signed, sealed and delivered. Already got the piece written and podcast recorded.

No, you’ve invented a scenario I never suggested that fits with what you wish were the case, as you regularly do.
As I’ve said countless times since he left, he was never on the shortlist for any jobs that might interest him and so he will *have* to take the summer off, get a chunky payoff and reassess next season now. He could have taken several jobs outside England this summer but he wants to manage in the championship (and ultimately the PL) and didn’t want to leave lots of money on the table for a role outside England. If he isn’t in a role by winter he will have to be realistic and get back in where he can.
The idea that he wouldn’t want to join mid season and manage someone else’s squad is a daft one even from yourself as his career to date has been as a ‘head coach’ with no input on signings and majority of roles taken mid season.
As you keep ignoring for obvious reasons, we can revisit in either 6 months when Stephan has been sacked already, or 12 months when he’s trying to force his way out already and you will, I’m sure, be calling him a cnt for doing so..

No. They’re going to pay him up in full with a clean break as the club quite rightly doesn’t want him lingering in the background still on the payroll if/when Stephan has a run of a couple of bad results and the twitterati turn on him.

Would you know the length of Marti's contract? It was described as a 'multi year' contract in September last year so presumably to 2026 at least?

Given your regular complaints about people who proclaim themselves as ITK, can you tell us how you know that QPR would accept nothing for the "fecker"?

So why haven't they done that already? And you now know what Nourry's bargaining position is going to be?
My question was a general one for the board about contract pay-outs in general, and not really for you as I don't believe half of what you say at the best of times.

So your inside knowledge now extends to other clubs both here and abroad to know that no English clubs were seriously interested in him but other foreign clubs offered him jobs that he’s turned down 😂 When Cifuentes is finally off the payroll does that mean that you will go too? You only appeared on here the day he was appointed and since then have been claiming to be the font of knowledge on all things QPR. Most have got you sussed though 👍
