Season perspectives 08:07 - May 4 with 35851 views | charlieB | Great result yesterday against Sunderland. Credit to the players, the staff, and especially the 1000 or so amazing fans who made the trip – that kind of support, in a game with nothing riding on it, speaks volumes. I’ve been reflecting over my morning coffee and just wanted to share a few thoughts. I know not everyone will agree, but hopefully it comes across in the spirit it’s meant – as a long-time fan trying to see the full picture. Marti deserves credit for keeping us up last season – he did the job he was brought in to do. But this season, we saw many of the same problems. We started with tactics that didn’t suit the squad – too passive, too deep, no real cutting edge. The players looked unsure of their roles and lacking confidence. When we eventually changed approach, results picked up – but it took too long, and the early damage was done. From what I’ve heard, he wasn’t well-liked behind the scenes either. Stubborn, slow to adapt, quick to deflect when things went wrong – and very happy to take the praise when they didn’t. He’s clearly a good coach, but I don’t think he was ever truly the right fit for this club. I won’t miss the terrace songs. On the other hand, I think Christian Nourry deserves more credit than he gets. He’s only 28, but age doesn’t define ability. He inherited a tough job – tight FFP limits, a small budget, and a club that’s been firefighting for years. And yet, recruitment has clearly improved. Not every signing will be an instant success, but all have contributed, and a few could add real long-term value – which is crucial for us as a selling club. They’ll take time to adapt, but there’s a shift in thinking, and that’s progress. The Ben Williams situation clearly had an impact – he was offered a big opportunity abroad and took it, which is understandable. But the void it left in the football department was felt. That said, I’ve heard that’s now been addressed for next season, which is good news. Of course, there’s a lot to do this summer. We need a head coach who suits the group, a more consistent playing style, and a couple of clever additions. But I genuinely feel more hopeful than I have in a while. There’s a bit of stability creeping in, and for once, it feels like we’re not just lurching from one short-term fix to the next. One thing we do need to change though – the way we treat some of our players. Madsen’s taken stick all season, often when he’s done little wrong. Now it’s Dembele. It’s like we always need someone to have a go at. These lads are human. They need support, not abuse. Confidence matters. Anyway, that’s just my view – take it or leave it. I’m not pretending everything’s perfect, but I do think there are a few more reasons for quiet optimism than people give credit for. Thanks again to Clive – this board remains a brilliant space, even when we don’t all agree. Have a great summer everyone – and here’s to next season, hopefully with a new head coach who can take us forward on this mad old rollercoaster we all insist on riding. COYR’S

Season perspectives on 07:40 - May 5 by QPR_Jim | "When we eventually changed approach, results picked up – but it took too long, and the early damage was done." Aren't we supposed to be playing to a game model that is replicated at every level so that we are producing players suitable to our system. Sounds like a good idea and something CN was keen to get across as part of his changes at the club. So it's a massive failure on his part that MC had to change how we play to get enough results to keep us up? How do we know that it wasn't a joint decision to keep the tactics the same up until the point we changed them. If anything your point highlights how poor the recruitment was. Short in some areas and incapable of playing the system we're trying to use throughout the club. You could say that CN can't turn it around that quickly and he needs more windows, which would be fair but if he'd have said that maybe we'd cut him some slack. But he's too busy talking about game models and trying to pretend everything is fine. He could have taken the pressure off Marti and made it clear that we're at the early stage of a rebuild and tried to work with the manager rather than against him. |

Season perspectives on 08:37 - May 5 by charlieB | Here we go again. Just saying I am a PR. Well done. Just because I take a pro stance I get accused of being on the payroll. This is very sad. Maybe just accept we have a different viewpoint rather than come to any wild conclusions. Time will tell if I am right or wrong but I am entitled to a view point. Like you guys are too. |
So why are you still refusing to answer legitimate questions over your claims? There are a lot of regular posters and match goers in here who all remember the Tommy Nintendo stalking campaign, the Paladini subversion of social media sites and you wonder why posters have their hackles up. You have made provocative statements and fobbed it off as common knowledge, it isn't! I could tell you why George Goddard was better than Brian Bedford but it would all be bollocks I found on a search engine. Finding out why Mavis was preferred to Olly, or which was the better of QPR's Budgies might not be so easy. Terry Cinzano may be able to help you with that one.c

Season perspectives on 08:52 - May 5 by Blue_Castello | Exactly you posed the question on page 8 and it was conveniently avoided, the OP has stated he has nothing to do with the club on page 1 , so bearing in mind the total blackout of news coming from the club obviously at CNs directive how can he know this information. We all have to make guesses about what's going on all the time but my guess is Nourry does read this site, is perturbed by the overwhelming negativity towards him and obviously wants to change that perception. He was too frightened to let Clive have his regular interview with Marti, he knows the sort of questions that would have been posed and was afraid of the potential answers. So now we have a campaign to try and change the views of the regular contributors to LFW, not sure why but probably the insecurity that comes with being such an inexperienced CEO, therein lies most of the problem. This screams of the Paladini years which were horrendous for his total mismanagement, getting stooges like Qblockpete and Scott Jones to continually post contrary views to try and generate some positivity. I am genuinely wishing for the day that Marti gets another job and can then do an interview giving his side of the story, I'm sure he can't say a word if he still wants to get paid, bit like a gagging order. As for the OP saying he has Dyslexia how the hell did he manage to post such a precise post in the first place, we've seen before genuine people with dyslexia on this board..... The amount of detailed inside info posted, including - running down marti and his style of mgmt - alluding to a change coming with Ben Williams - fees given as 800k for Varane, but conveniently not drawing attention to the dud transfers of Madsen and Celar fees of 3.5m and 2.5m - full transfer analysis provided, including Harvey Vale, which itself is quite revealing - and perhaps the big reveal of all - the extreme defensive nature of the post, with repeated posts, strongly point to one personality at the club in particular.

Season perspectives on 08:07 - May 5 by Phildo | Joking aside this thread is useful. We now know the owners picked a wrongun and the seeds of destruction have been sown. If you a a billionaire do you really want this sort of behaviour associated with you? Amit Ruben Richard you know in your heart where this ends. |
This goes to the heart of it all. We've all been around long enough to have seen this before; an inexperienced CEO, out of his depth, worried about himself more than the club, causing division and argument amongst the fanbase in an attempt to shore up his position and diminish potential threats to him and his reputation. We've also seen it be done by better, more skilful manipulators than CN. And we all also know how it plays out. At some point - a week, month, year from now CN will be gone and we will be left picking up the pieces. The only question is how much damage this arrogant young man is allowed to inflict in the meantime. The longer he stays the worse this will all get. The big question is this; have the owners learnt any lessons over their time at the club or will they continue to be fleeced by people like this? | | | | Login to get fewer ads

This is all getting rather tedious now for most I suspect. I haven't changed my opinion and what I've seen here so far but charlieb, you could put a lot of this to rest if you would shed light on where your info comes from. You made some pretty firm statements based on information 'you have heard' - why won't you enlighten us as to where you heard it? There are a lot of longstanding supporters on here - it's odd that none of them seem to have 'heard' the same info as you have

Season perspectives on 10:26 - May 5 by ed_83 | It does always tickle me when people (by no means exclusive to here) look at people reacting negatively to them, and decide that it’s because they’re a horrible mob addicted to groupthink and mercilessly bullying them for their fearless truth-speaking, rather than because their opinions are bad and their manner is offputting, |
Well put. 'I am not surprised that with 15600 impressions on this thread only a handful are brave enough to stand up and agree. Thats because they will get hounded out by the pack.' A quite extraordinary remark which has no bearing on reality whatsoever.

Are you a journalist/blogger? Like many on here I generally sit up and take note when Clive gives his opinion and insights on the club and matters behind the scenes. The reason I say that is he is generally bang-on the money and he is a respected journalist. So, stop hiding behind your keyboard and share your credentials, so we can judge whether you are a Nourry bot or a genuine fan with some solid insight. It’s that simple.

By a similar token...if we ask a question about the (new) claims in your op, can't we expect an answer, instead of deflection? The likes of Clive, Dave Thomas, the WLS guys etc have got track records, journalistic nous, experience...they've earned trust & respect, they can show their receipts. Tbh all new posters giving it the ITK schtick get questioned in a pretty full on manner. How they respond quickly determines whether it gets more full on or not- - eg lassel got a fair bit of stick initially, but when, after a while, he did hint at a reliable source, was cut a lot more slack. You present your op as just some out loud musings, then drop your ITK bombshells, and think you'll just get an, 'ok mate, carry on...'
