Season perspectives 08:07 - May 4 with 26962 views | charlieB | Great result yesterday against Sunderland. Credit to the players, the staff, and especially the 1000 or so amazing fans who made the trip – that kind of support, in a game with nothing riding on it, speaks volumes. I’ve been reflecting over my morning coffee and just wanted to share a few thoughts. I know not everyone will agree, but hopefully it comes across in the spirit it’s meant – as a long-time fan trying to see the full picture. Marti deserves credit for keeping us up last season – he did the job he was brought in to do. But this season, we saw many of the same problems. We started with tactics that didn’t suit the squad – too passive, too deep, no real cutting edge. The players looked unsure of their roles and lacking confidence. When we eventually changed approach, results picked up – but it took too long, and the early damage was done. From what I’ve heard, he wasn’t well-liked behind the scenes either. Stubborn, slow to adapt, quick to deflect when things went wrong – and very happy to take the praise when they didn’t. He’s clearly a good coach, but I don’t think he was ever truly the right fit for this club. I won’t miss the terrace songs. On the other hand, I think Christian Nourry deserves more credit than he gets. He’s only 28, but age doesn’t define ability. He inherited a tough job – tight FFP limits, a small budget, and a club that’s been firefighting for years. And yet, recruitment has clearly improved. Not every signing will be an instant success, but all have contributed, and a few could add real long-term value – which is crucial for us as a selling club. They’ll take time to adapt, but there’s a shift in thinking, and that’s progress. The Ben Williams situation clearly had an impact – he was offered a big opportunity abroad and took it, which is understandable. But the void it left in the football department was felt. That said, I’ve heard that’s now been addressed for next season, which is good news. Of course, there’s a lot to do this summer. We need a head coach who suits the group, a more consistent playing style, and a couple of clever additions. But I genuinely feel more hopeful than I have in a while. There’s a bit of stability creeping in, and for once, it feels like we’re not just lurching from one short-term fix to the next. One thing we do need to change though – the way we treat some of our players. Madsen’s taken stick all season, often when he’s done little wrong. Now it’s Dembele. It’s like we always need someone to have a go at. These lads are human. They need support, not abuse. Confidence matters. Anyway, that’s just my view – take it or leave it. I’m not pretending everything’s perfect, but I do think there are a few more reasons for quiet optimism than people give credit for. Thanks again to Clive – this board remains a brilliant space, even when we don’t all agree. Have a great summer everyone – and here’s to next season, hopefully with a new head coach who can take us forward on this mad old rollercoaster we all insist on riding. COYR’S

You're right. If you feed random nonsense into chat GBT you'll get random nonsense out. However, it is VERY good at writing articles if you know how to 'train' it accordingly This can be what style and format you want, what arguments you want to make, how to open and close the article as well as using a persuasive tone. You then revise / fine tune the 'drafts' that Chat GBT outputs using Chat GBT on its own drafts. Finally you give the article a 'human' edit and you're done. Compare the OP to the rest of CharlieB's posts and the difference becomes very clear imho.

Season perspectives on 17:28 - May 5 by stainrods_elbow | A paranoid post, for my money, as was the one that accused the OP of 'throwing a punch'! He wasn't. He was presenting a view some others obviously feel so threatened by they have to consign it the operation of some nefarious bot and/or make moral distinctions between legitimate posters and so-called trolls. Perhaps if more than one person is drawing attention to the tendency of message boards toward cultishness/conformity/group thinking/scapegoating/bullying (whatever their merits, and, as I've frequently said, the quality of writing by Clive and a number of others on LfW is frequently outstanding), you might want to consider there's a point to be made? As Jung wisely pointed out, everything and everyone casts a shadow (as soon as you turn a light on there's a shadow), and the bigger the entity, the longer the shadow. The dangerous people are those who are so attached to their image of themselves as nice and sensible and adult etc. etc. (I'll mention no names), they don't realise they have feet of clay too. Pointing this out should actually help everyone to me more self-aware, myself included, where these dynamics are concerned. It's telling, however, those it only makes angry and defensive. Season perspectives on 12:29 - May 5 by PeterHucker | The original post by Charlie was written in a very different style to all his subsequent posts. That's because the original post was generated by AI. The giveaways are that it is flawlessly punctuated and the frequent use of the "m dash" symbol — Charlie's subsequent posts have definite signs of being written by a real person. There is the occasional missing capital letter, an occasional space before an exclamation mark, that kind of thing. I'm not saying that makes the original post untrue or anything like that. I'm just commenting on the very different writing style between that and all the other posts by this user. Which makes me wonder why the thread was started with the AI generated text. Did Charlie generate it himself or did someone else generate it and give it to Charlie to post here? If Charlie denies that the first post was AI generated then he's definitely full of it because, as I've said, it's a totally different style of writing. [Post edited 5 May 12:29]

It's fine, healthy in fact, to have a debate where there are lots of differing opinions, but given what has happened since we were last relegated and the nerve-shredding season we have just had, with its bewildering and as yet unresolved final crisis, coming up with the statement below suggests to me that either the original poster has been paying very little attention, they don't care, or they have an agenda. "There’s a bit of stability creeping in, and for once, it feels like we’re not just lurching from one short-term fix to the next".

I was struggling to find the answer to an obscure query I had about Italian football. That was in spite of including a lot of very specific information in the search criteria. I had never previously tried an AI-driven search due to how much extra CO2 they generate (around 10 times more tgan a standard search), but thought I'd make an exception just this once. Well, the search came up with a convincing answer first time. However, when I checked the answer - the name of a football team - I discovered that the AI had been wrong. Interesting...
