Season perspectives 08:07 - May 4 with 46016 views | charlieB | Great result yesterday against Sunderland. Credit to the players, the staff, and especially the 1000 or so amazing fans who made the trip – that kind of support, in a game with nothing riding on it, speaks volumes. I’ve been reflecting over my morning coffee and just wanted to share a few thoughts. I know not everyone will agree, but hopefully it comes across in the spirit it’s meant – as a long-time fan trying to see the full picture. Marti deserves credit for keeping us up last season – he did the job he was brought in to do. But this season, we saw many of the same problems. We started with tactics that didn’t suit the squad – too passive, too deep, no real cutting edge. The players looked unsure of their roles and lacking confidence. When we eventually changed approach, results picked up – but it took too long, and the early damage was done. From what I’ve heard, he wasn’t well-liked behind the scenes either. Stubborn, slow to adapt, quick to deflect when things went wrong – and very happy to take the praise when they didn’t. He’s clearly a good coach, but I don’t think he was ever truly the right fit for this club. I won’t miss the terrace songs. On the other hand, I think Christian Nourry deserves more credit than he gets. He’s only 28, but age doesn’t define ability. He inherited a tough job – tight FFP limits, a small budget, and a club that’s been firefighting for years. And yet, recruitment has clearly improved. Not every signing will be an instant success, but all have contributed, and a few could add real long-term value – which is crucial for us as a selling club. They’ll take time to adapt, but there’s a shift in thinking, and that’s progress. The Ben Williams situation clearly had an impact – he was offered a big opportunity abroad and took it, which is understandable. But the void it left in the football department was felt. That said, I’ve heard that’s now been addressed for next season, which is good news. Of course, there’s a lot to do this summer. We need a head coach who suits the group, a more consistent playing style, and a couple of clever additions. But I genuinely feel more hopeful than I have in a while. There’s a bit of stability creeping in, and for once, it feels like we’re not just lurching from one short-term fix to the next. One thing we do need to change though – the way we treat some of our players. Madsen’s taken stick all season, often when he’s done little wrong. Now it’s Dembele. It’s like we always need someone to have a go at. These lads are human. They need support, not abuse. Confidence matters. Anyway, that’s just my view – take it or leave it. I’m not pretending everything’s perfect, but I do think there are a few more reasons for quiet optimism than people give credit for. Thanks again to Clive – this board remains a brilliant space, even when we don’t all agree. Have a great summer everyone – and here’s to next season, hopefully with a new head coach who can take us forward on this mad old rollercoaster we all insist on riding. COYR’S

Players who we have brought in general have all improved the squad. Thin because we have small budgets and it will take may more windows to get to where we want it to be. |
Ok, Christian. | | | |

Season perspectives on 16:57 - May 4 by nadera78 | CharlieB, a word to the wise - every time I see this sort of transparent BS posted on this forum or social media it make me dislike Nourry a little bit more. Everything about it makes him look even more unfit for the role he somehow blagged his way into. |
Maybe THIS is the point? Because its obvious 99% of posters on here don't fall for this kind of thing otherwise!

Really? Where have I accepted what he’s said as fact? Just pointing out the hypocrisy on this thread.

I get Orwellian vibes when I read Nourry’s press releases. It’s like they’re written in “Newspeak.”

You’ve spent a whole day telling us the club is finally stable, no one at the club really liked Marti, and our recruitment has been excellent since Nourry came in. And you now want to appeal to Orwellian tropes? You’d probably do well to read it. “The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears”.

Mate, you've been completely and utterly found out. Point blank ignoring the oft repeated key question of how you had such specific insider knowledge, whilst presenting yourself as a regular fan with no connection to the club. You've obeyed PR rule No 1 and just completely ignored the question, pretend it was never asked whilst continuing to make other empty, often abrasive, posts. I can assure you without a shadow of a doubt that your remit to provide good PR for your boss has completely backfired and he will be less trusted by some fans as a result of your amateur efforts. Christian, you should be demanding your money back, you've hired a complete dud. [Post edited 4 May 18:29]

Season perspectives on 18:18 - May 4 with 1801 views | Wilkinswatercarrier | Anyway, back on track. Overall really disappointed. Thought top 10 was a achievable goal, but injuries killed us. MC also disappointed, just some weird selections and setups in a few games. Shake hands and move on. Top positive - the youngsters - Morgan, Morrison, Kolli, Sutton, Lloyd, Bennie. The future, with more coming through.

Improved the squad in which positions? Full-backs? Strikers? We knew we were in the shìt on both positions last summer and last January. And we signed another winger to add to the 7 already on the books. Who is accountable for this?

By not questioning where the information has come from as you normally do, indicates to me that you've accepted it as fact. By not challenging Isn't that hypocrisy on your part? Of course, perception is often very different to the receiver than was intended by the originator & I do accept that it might not have been your intention.

A number of people have raised the question and he’s not answered. Do we all need to ask the same question to him on this thread to post on it? I don’t believe he has any inside knowledge just as I don’t believe the likes of lassel when he posts his intimate knowledge of all things Marti Cifuentes.
