Play the strongest team we possibly can or reward the players who have got the team this far? I know at this level it supposed to be all about the coaching and not the results but for a one off like this I am hoping it is the strongest team in an effort to win the cup, along the lines of...
1. Salamon
2. Putman
3. Esquerdinha
4. McDowell
5. Murphy
6. Bennie
7. Tuck
8. Morgan
9. Sutton
10. Kolli
11. Dillon

Subs. Clark, Talla, Manufor, Petrie, Vaughan and others. I am not as familiar as many on here as it is normally to far to travel for their games so I only have around 5-6 games to base my team on.
Please feel free to criticise/ replace/ tell me to never darken your door again etc.

Sad to have had to miss this last night, but what a pleasure to read about it - even moreso since it bodes well for the future.

We definitely needed this sort of good news.

Agree with those assessments Dave, perhaps only that I am more positive about Salomon than you, he really showed the value of coming for the ball when we are under late pressure from crosses. You really need that in the Championship and it is a common criticism of the otherwise excellent Nardi. His kicking was poor, hoping that was just an aberration. I think there is plenty of promise there.

certainly promise there, meant more he was miles off at the moment but keepers take longer to develop so wouldn't write him off

I thought Salmon had a slightly shaky start but came through it to be very good. Conversely, his kicking was impressive initially but went a bit haywire as the game progressed. He did get good length though even if they were into touch.

I'd been talking him up before the KO and my dad was laughing at me, until he did that double save when Brentford had their spell of pressure.

Good shot stopping, nice and brave, came off his line and good at crosses.
But, he does need to work on his distribution, you can def see the ethos through all the squads to play out from the back

I know Murphy hasn't really threatened the first team yet but we should try and get him a league 2 loan, see if he can do a Chair or Eze. A few goals like last night, would at least give him a chance with us or a modest transfer value.

I waited in vain for the cries of "stop pissballing about at the back, get it up the field" that I hear so often from my usual spot in MU. It is patently obvious that this is how all our teams play and, rightly or wrongly, they aren't going to be changing it anytime soon. Embrace it and you'll be happier.

Let's not underestimate (I'm sure we're not!) the significance of this.

36 teams started in this competition from all over the country. With a group stage, which we topped, then knock-outs so it's pretty much a season long tournament.

inc both stages, our stats read; P10 W7 D1 L2 (with 4 consecutive wins, of course, in the knock-outs)

We won it, bloody well won it. That's no mean feat.

35 other clubs didn't and I'm sure would have liked to.

Murphy was also the top goalscorer this year with 8 goals.

Attendance in the final showing as 9,000. Probably 8,000-to-8,500 QPR fans.
Compare that to 3,695 in total last year at Fulham v Spurs and 2,219 in total the year before, Brentford v Blackburn.
Even if you take into account last night was a local derby, we easily 'outsold' the home tickets that Fulham & Brentford did, more than the two combined total attendances of those two games.

So, when Brentford fans are going 'your cup final' (well, it was a cup final) or 'we have more important things going on', trying to make out it was about them, yadda, yadda, yadda.... it really does show the strength of support we have, the community spirit etc. Really do need to sort our schit out stadium wise, league wise etc. I'm not pineing for the PL unless we can actually make a decent fist of it, but just to to be a good competitive team, like we were during covid and we can have a club that's prominent again in a congested part of London for football.

Salomon spent a good few minutes of the warm-up practising long kicks out to the wing. He seems to be completely left footed. I think he has a lot of potential and agree that a L2 loan would be good for him.

"Remember to listen to me but look at her. Don't get it the wrong way round. That would be hideous."

That turn out is Feckin magnificent. There you go. Vast majority proper (you know what I mean) Rangers.
That’s the best and most enjoyable game I’ve been at in years.

Did I ever mention that I was in Minder?

As said, Brentford fans pretending a few days ago it didn’t bother them because they have a proper Derby to focus on at the weekend.

Tell me, how did that go?

Yes have tried embracing it but still find myself getting very nervous with the continuous
backwards and across the goal mouth passes. Can see how we can open teams up by creating space but when we are static without movement I find myself crossing my fingers we don’t make a bad ball and end up conceding…get the ball over the half way line and breathe!
