England women’s team 21:58 - Jul 4 with 32392 views | stowmarketrange | Anyone else going to Zurich tomorrow night? We are sat behind one of the goals in section B11,and although I’ll be wearing an England shirt rather than a QPR one,I’ll be waving my QPR flag, especially if Chloe comes on. Come on England.

England women’s team on 09:29 - Jul 24 by PlanetHonneywood | Yeah, we did look very tired and leggy. One hopes after the high octane finishes in our last two games, there's enough in the tank come Sunday. We might be without James and Williamson looked wobbly. Who replaces the latter with will be crucial, as I fear Carter will get destroyed by the Spanish speed. Walsh, great player, also looked out on her feet against Italia. Don't take this the wrong way, but I know Sarina felt your presence at the final jinxed us. I assume you're not flying in for the final in which case, our chances will significantly improve. Just sayin'..... |
Happy to report I'll still be in Sydney which is just about as far away as its possible to be. Good to see Spain going to extra time and a day later than us.

Was the other way around in the WC final so hopefully will help us this time. I know there's talk of Kelly and Agyemang deserving to start (and I'm not against that train of thought) but this is a tournament and there is a clear plan in place and so far it's worked. Start mucking around with that because of public pressure and it may backfire. So I say stick with it and bring those two on (earlier than before iMO) as the Spanish legs tire. I know they'll have subs too but I think they'd want to try and get an early goal or two and shut up shop so we need to weather that storm first then get the players on the pitch that can get us goals.

Agreed. The old cliché, but the first goal is crucial.

Good old public pressure. The best example I can think of was the 1991 rugby world cup final v Australia. England abandoned the tactics that got them to the final to try and adopt a more open style and lost. Kelly especially is a bench player for me. That's where she's made most impact. Definitely has a great mentality Agyemang a bit more unknown and still young. The likes of Hemp, Russo and Mead haven't done too much in recent games but are proven performers. Hopefully now is their time.

We hit the bar early doors in the world cup final (I can see myself head in hands behind he goal in the highlights) and I always wondered what might have been if that went in.

England women’s team on 21:39 - Jul 25 with 252 views | Toast_R | I always harp back to France 98 and Hoddle doing the same thing Wiegman is doing, and having Michael Owen on the bench until he needed to get out of the shit. The stupidity put England on the terrible side of the knockout stage, This feels exactly the same. It's going to be unforgivable if England lose the final with Agyemang and Kelly sat on there arses for 90% of the match where they could have been on the pitch doing damage from the off. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Possibly start with Agyemang to start, but maybe not Chloe,as she runs at tired defences more than she does from the start. That decision is Sarina’s to make, but it would be a disaster if we lose and only give them 10-15 minutes to make an impact.
England women’s team on 21:51 - Jul 25 with 229 views | aston_hoop | The thing with Agyemang is that she has actually played so little senior football at this point, if her best impact is off the bench then why change things now, use her for 20 minutes against knackered Spanish defenders. Alessia Russo is fine leading the line as things are. Kelly might well start anyway as things are with James injured and thats fine.

It may well be, but England have scored the first goal in only two of five games and are in the final.

I don't see that losing v France (making Game 2 a Must Win), and the starting line-up being on the verge of elimination in both the QF and Semi-Final (0-2 at 79 minutes and 0-1 at 90 minutes) before the game is swung by subs qualifies as "a clear plan" that has worked. I'd say it's evidence of strong team spirit and a good bench (and, fair play, of making the right subs.) It doesn't follow that those subs should start, but the starting XI has not done the job against the stronger sides.
