Anyone else going to Zurich tomorrow night? We are sat behind one of the goals in section B11,and although I’ll be wearing an England shirt rather than a QPR one,I’ll be waving my QPR flag, especially if Chloe comes on. Come on England.

I like womens football and watch it all the time. To me it is like watching a non-league team instead of Premier League. You can enjoy it just as much, it can be just as competitive and entertaining, and you can get just as spun up about it. What does it matter if they cant compete with Liverpool?

Habit is probably why I watch QPR and hope........
I enjoyed it last night too, massively entertaining is well OTT as far as I am concerned, but it was basically rubbish football and no comparison to QPR. I do, however, get fed up with all this 'bigging it up' and women getting involved in Men's football.
Getting on for half a century since the first woman PM.
It can't be that outlandish to imagine that women are quite capable of commentary, analysis, running the line, refereeing and indeed managing in the men's game.
Now that the women's game is being taken seriously - and not actively suppressed as it used to be - it will attract more and more players and standards will improve by leaps and bounds.

HAHAHA the irony of of a QPR fan criticising a game of football for its poor quality!

I thought the ref last night made a few pretty bad decisions that I would not have been too pleased with if they had gone against me or my team.......the womens game has got better for sure but it is still pretty average. Those two goals that we conceded last night highlighted the level(s) their game is at....this is top European football.

Don't all male refs get pelters for poor decisons in every game? Why should women be held to higher standards?

Why are you so hung up on the 'standard of football'?
We didn't play a great standard of attacking football vs Derby at Wembley - even before the red card - and the game was ultimately decided by two defensive errors and it was the singular best piece of sport I've ever witnessed.
If standard of football is so important to you I have no idea how you ended up a QPR fan.
Nobody's trying to take mens' football away you know. It'll still be there however popular or mainstream the women's game becomes. It's such a bizarre defensive attitude.

Can't believe the criticism the women are receiving, but then that little weasel Barton is one of those throwing insults so I shouldn't be surprised.
Men seem to miss a huge disparity that exists between the men's and womens games. The women today in their mid 20s would have started playing the game 20 years ago. I'm pretty sure there was very little professional coaching, academies or professional teams who took the women's game seriously back then. Key skills are learnt at very young ages, not teenage years.
In 10 years the women representing England will be the first to of experienced a full academy education and the standard will improve. Until then some need to give them a break. Or don't watch it.
A lot of the better women players would’ve played in mixed leagues until U16 or U18 level,so they would’ve got experience playing against and with stronger players, which has helped their development. The only downside to mixed leagues is that some don’t then play in girls football, which tends to not improve the girls matches as much. You can see the difference when those players have to return to women’s football at U17 or adult level. Hopefully the disparity will diminish as the girls/women’s game improves at all levels.

My daughter plays girls football at under 11s. She plays for a club with a really good set up. There's a head of girls football who oversees all the girls teams up until they reach the women's team. The standard is decent considering a lot of the girls have only been playing a year or two. We went to a tournament recently and the best teams there would have beaten a lot of boys teams of the same age. They were really good.
A couple of years ago when my son was under 11s, the Charlton under 12 girls played in his league. They were excellent. Played really good football and beat my son's team three times that year. First game the boys didn't really know what to do and thought it would be easy playing against the girls. Even the goalkeeper in the Charlton team was one of the best in their league.
From what I've seen the girls and women's game is improving at a very fast rate. Considering it was more or less totally amateur and with little to no audience 10 to 15 years ago, it has come a long way very quickly and will only keep on getting better.

It is mental how you can quite reasonably say "I think womens football is shite" and all of a sudden the pitchfork and torch wielders come out to insinuate you are a neanderthal, misogynistic, woman hating tw@t (with a small c0ck).
The two don't go hand in hand..... unless you're Jeremy Beadle.
There's been plenty of threads on here over the years entitled "England tonight" when the men have been playing and people have come on and, quite rightly, given the squad pelters for being one thing or another. I don't see the same moral outrage there.
If you absolutely love womens football for whatever reason then fair play. If you find it laughable, at even the highest level, as do I, then fair play. The reason most of us will compare it to the mens game is surely natural? It's what we've been watching most of our lives and from such exposure opinions and standards are formed.
Anyway.... as I said earlier, best of luck to the ladies, and it would be great if Chloe Kelly whacks in a winner in the final again.
Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

Rather shocked at the comments re the girls playing the boys, etc, etc.
The season just past my grandson, who plays Junior Premier League football at U13?? level, on Saturdays. It is very decent standard indeed. They played the Arsenal U14's girl's team a year older than the boys, home and away. Arsenal had about 6 coaches/physio's, 100 of football's, bibs, all the bottles of drink, warmed up with 3 or 4 coaches, goalkeeping coach, the lot basically,- what it was costing Arsenal I would not like to estimate but it was as near professional as you could see for that level. They had girls playing that were representing their counties, somebody said that a couple were England U 14 players(??), training 2/3 times a week, been away to other countries in tournments apparently, everything basically........the home score was 6-0 and extremely easy, I did not go to the away match but it was very comfortable as well. What I would say, is that technically some of them were only just behind the boys but physically in all aspects apart from one of two of them they could not live with the boys.
Now I am not knoocking the girls at all, I found it very interesting indeed, just sharing some detail about girl's professional clubs football.....shocked how much money must be being 'pumped' into girl's fottball considering this is just one team in the Arsenal set up for girls.....probably 6 or seven more age groups.

I think the physical advantage probably kicks in around 13/14. At 10/11 the girls are often bigger than the boys. When my son's team (admittedly not JPL standard) played Charlton under 12s, the girls were easily a physical match for them. With regards to the number of coaches etc I guess Arsenal see value in investing in the women's game. All the women's games are at the Emirates this season and they tend to get 30,000+ in attendance so I'd imagine they do alright off the gate receipts and sponsorship deals.

My grandson was at the Ipswich academy a couple of years ago and they played an away friendly against Brentford U14.We made our way down to Gunnersbury park and Ipswich team had to borrow a ball from the Brentford team in order to warm up before the match. Both of the Ipswich coaches just sat there for the whole game talking to each other rather than trying to sort out their team or tactics with the boys. He left their academy a short time after and is now with Needham Market’s academy.

If you posted a Frankie Knuckles track on the (fantastic) Frankie Knuckles thread and said ‘raved to this at Brixton last night and had a great time’ and then five or six people bowled on there and said ‘Frankie Knuckles is shite’ you’d rightly have something to say.
Frankie Knuckles is great by the way, just making a point about reading the room but if you need to be offended or the victim go for it.

Bollox.
I’d respect their opinion musically IF they’re followers of the overall music genre but, for some mad reason in my opinion, Knuckles didn’t do it for them. Yes I’d disagree but would I belittle their opinion? Hand on heart no I wouldn’t.
The problem with some people is this moral high ground position or outraged on everything approach is slowly losing weight and being seen for what it is :- shutting down a different opinion. What you are in effect saying is “don’t come on here (ie this thread) and give us a view that doesn’t fit with our narrative” and you’re then spinning some sort of reverse victimisation position. You seem to think that I have a complex for some reason; honestly don’t worry…. I won’t be up all night feeling wronged, offended or concerned about my unbelievably small manhood.
Some of us are quite happy with our viewpoints in life and can crack on quite easily knowing there’s people who will be totally the opposite. It doesn’t bother me. Laters and all that.

It isn't natural though because you don't see people doing this about any other sport that women play.

Women obviously have less strength and power than men. Although could make an exception for Lauren James.
The talent is there and its often an entertaining watch.
Many many times the men's game will massively disappoint.
We watched Sothgates England achieve, however quality and talent was often missing
Just part of any sport
Comparisons between men and women's games is an irrelevance.
We were awful for 80 minutes but found a way.
The penalties were poor, but again high level sport is unpredictable
I probably enjoyed the England game more than I would for tbe men's game as I was less invested in the outcome.
But the women's game is here to stay. Its successful in terms of fans now also. And obviously appeals as a spectator sport to a different crowd base also.

I like watching England women’s team and will watch their games. But, I watch female athletes, tennis players, the rugby side, gymnasts and I’m a bit in awe of way they perform and levels they reach. For example the power the tennis shots are hit and the accuracy, any of the gymnast routines and the hits in the rugby…….I don’t quite get so impressed with women’s football. That’s not comparing it to men’s, it’s just when I compare to other women’s sports. The goal keeping is still very poor and I don’t understand why as an example. Players like Bronze and James are some exceptions, with power and skill they have. But it’s a minority for me.
