Nourry interview 15:01 - Jul 25 with 11055 views | Gloucs_R | Has anyone listened fully to the interview on West London sport? I listen to about 25 minutes and got bored so if anyone else could summarise it that would be ace. Thanks

Nourry interview on 22:09 - Jul 28 by Burnleyhoop | Listened to the whole thing. Thought he responded well to most of the questions asked and was articulate and measured. My impression was that he accepts that he got the Ben Williams saga wrong from an optics perspective, but ultimately our physios didn’t perform and changes have subsequently been made. He also alluded to a lack of rotation, specifically in the 3 game weeks. Would be interested to hear how DM felt about the interview. As for his communication skills not meeting your C- Suite requirements and almost collapsing under the pressure….utter nonsense. |
I can only say you’re extremely pleased if that communication ability meets your approval. A softball interview of pre-approved questions and DM had him on the ropes like Ali by deviating barely from the script. If DM didn’t have to bend the knee to retain access it would’ve been a R1 KO.

Nourry interview on 10:31 - Jul 29 by 7374Ranger | Some fair points there, but I disagree that this has been a very good transfer window. Not much in the way of strikers coming or going other than Burrell for Kelman. Poku looks like a welcome signing, but it looks like a Saito replacement. We still seem to have a disinterested Celar, along with an injury prone Frey. Kolli is still around and Lloyd seems set for a loan out. Do overall I cannot see any real improvement on last season’s pathetic strike force. Mbengue looks ok, Adamson is a replacement for Ashby. Paal looks to have been replaced by Larkeche which to me looks like a downgrade. Edwards has returned to Southampton, JCS is still injured. Again no real improvement on last season’s defence. Colback has not re-signed or been replaced. And we don’t know what is going on with Varane. Is he really injured or just kept out of harm’s way in ongoing transfer speculation? For me it is a meh transfer window. As nearly always, it seems our signings will happen late and points will be dropped whilst the squad gels and QPR will be playing catch up as we endure another bottom third season. |
Totally agree with this post . To read someone say on Saturday lunch time that our squad is stronger this season than last blows my admittedly tiny mind. That’s an opinion anyone is entitled to of course . Perhaps if we didn’t have half a squad struggling with injuries again then it might be half an argument, but we have and that can’t be ignored. How many times do I have to read ‘when everyone is fit…blah blah blah? It’s not going to happen with this set of players . This squad will always have 3, 4 even 5 injured because that’s why they are here . Now by September 1st , it might well be and probably will be looking at the side that’s going to start the season. We’ll have no choice but to spend money one way or another because to me we look some way off with whose available right now .

Well if rumours are true that Ba is coming in and Celar out on loan and 1 more striker in, we have 3 new strikers and Frey, with Kolli in reserve. I’d say having new strikers is an improvement. Midfield is stronger with Poku, a fit Chair and Vale. Also Morgan, Varane into 2nd season. We need 1 more as cover for Field and Varane. In defence we need a left back but unfortunately I think they will stick with what they have.
Nourry interview on 12:37 - Jul 29 with 839 views | daveB | It was a good listen, I still find a lot of what he says frustrating but there was encouraging stuff as well I really like the coaching stuff with specialist coaches, Betsy and Bould and the role they do both very good moves and will hopefully have an impact long term On the transfers I do get that we needed to lower the age of the team but again with communication why not get that message out last summer rather than keep quiet. Lowering the age of the team is a good thing but they need to be good enough and not enough of them were. The contract stuff he is not gonna change that but Dave made a great point about clubs knowing release clause without them being public knowledge Kelman is a great example of it all being nonsense, They never announced to fans how long he had left on his deal but clubs clearly knew had a year left which is why they tried to buy him Fans knew as we pretty much put 2 and 2 together and it was also confirmed by several journalists online The reason fans are not going mad about Kelman being sold is because we know he is out of contract next summer so knowing these things can be a big benefit to the club Ben Williams - I found that all a bit ridiculous just hold your hands up and say you got it wrong, the lack of communication when he went it was all left up in the air. To say we were mid tabe for injuries ignores we had a small squad and the number of games we went into without a centre forward which us still going on in pre season and the number of games we had no centre halvesWas a ridiculous situation and to blame not managing the squad better in 3 game weeks is laughable when there was never any depth to allow for rotation On the Dev Squad it is all basically what les and Ramsey were saying, time will tell if he actually delivers on that. It all sounds great being more ruthless and releasing players at 20 but we had Aoraha and Talla off the bench on Saturday, in their 20's with very limited chance of making it at QPR but not released, it's all similar to Les saying one but the reality doesn't always add up Hearing him explain how he got the job was mad though, not really his fault but how did Hoos and co give him the keys to the castle to run everything based on being a sports journalists and then part of retexo for a few years. Whether he was 27 or 57 to get hat job based on his experience is insane Ultimately I really hope it works out and he learns from past mistakes and we have a successful few years, I have major doubts but I really hope to be proved wrong

My main concern - other than the usual lack of depth - is that we're weaker in 3 key areas - FB, CM & CF. We only have 1 Championship full back in our team, imo, and neither LB option is good enough. CM we have Field, Varane, Morgan and maybe Vale. But if the latter doesn't work playing deeper, we are once again going into a season without a progressive midfielder to play through. CF looks like it's being addressed, but if we lose Celar and Lloyd along with Kelman, the worst strike force in the league shrinks. We cannot rely on Frey or Kolli, so that essentially leaves Burrell and whoever we sign, hoping that we don't see the same teething problems as last season. I'm also struggling with the keeper situation, but while we still have Nardi, I think we'll just revert to him as first choice and deal with it next summer. Overall I think we need 3-4 signings urgently - CF, LB, CM, CF (in that order) - and maybe 1-2 depth pieces at CB/RB and LW.

Nourry interview on 17:54 - Jul 28 by nick_hammersmith | I thought Dave Mc did a good job, and I'm glad he prefaced the interview to let us all know that some topics were off limits. CN spoke well as always, but I think he missed a chance to hold his hands up and say "we made a mistake with this, but we learn and move on" Not sure if this was youth or something else preventing him, but it would go a long way to Humanising his character, which is the main complaint about him. Otherwise he does talk a lot of sense and he is also walking the walk, with his actions in the DS and selling players who won't sign up for the future. Fans forum should be exciting |
He did say “We made some mistakes in the pure medical area, for sure."... just for a bit of balance. As a person, he doesn't strike me as being my cuppa tea - kinda like a politician - but I do believe that as our defacto boss, he will be short term pain for long term gain - I think his strategies and processes will pay off eventually. His age and experience seem to be a big factor for most of his detractors, but I wager that the majority of them were also moaning about Les who, whilst not having the DOF experience, was at least a football guy, former player etc. We wanted progress - a different, more modern approach to running a football club, well this is what that looks like, and i'll put up with it in the hope that he knows what he is doing. I definitely like the focus on development, with the view to selling in the future - that is what we should have been doing all along. That strikes me as a solid plan. I also think that just recently we have more communication, so long may that continue. I don't like the pre-approved questions though, that stinks.

On your last point, wasn’t that just on Marti saga only? Or did I misunderstand that part at the beginning | | | | Login to get fewer ads

A lot was mentioned about the Marti Q's, but I must admit I did take it to mean that all the Q's had been approved, maybe you're right.

We'd need Dave Mc to confirm I guess. I had assumed it was only the Marti Q's that were verboten But, it could be interpreted that any topic was pre-approved as well I think he could have done better explaining the Ben WIlliams thing. I've worked in places where someone has come in to change the ethos of a department, setup new protocols, systems and people and then step away. I think its pretty common in business, I didn't think that BW was out on the pitches at training anyway Lets hope that his return to full time means our light squad can stay fitter

Nourry interview on 09:48 - Jul 29 by wombat | I find the lack of rotation a shit£y stick to beat marti with , how can you rotate a squad when half of them were injured or at best carrying injuries , we played morgan till he was fit to drop , we had no fit strikers for the last third of the season, and no fit centre backs at one stage yet we didnt rotate as much as he thought we should , this is my biggest issue with nourry , what the feck does he know about squad rotation ? prob as much as he does about building a squad with some balance and that may actually compete , you cant learn about running a football club via football manager. we go into yet another season with a paper thin squad no strikers very little in midfield and no left back same as how many other seasons ? oh and we havent played a striker in the lst three friendlies due to fitness issues . cant wait for the forum tonight , couple of videos on who we have just signed bit of news on the stadium , usual fare |
I suspect he knows a lot more than you or I. We are mere armchair fans with nothing more substantial than opinions.

Nourry interview on 13:10 - Jul 26 by LongRanger | He certainly doesn't sound like any 27 year old I've ever met before! 😂 Really, have you never seen The Apprentice? There are loads. For those hoping he’d acknowledge the errors, he’s clearly a narcissist, every time he speaks publicly we see further evidence, and narcs don’t admit failure. He’s also not setting Stephan unrealistic targets because he’s his man, he got rid of Marti and his eggs are in this basket, so he needs him to do well. |
He explicitly acknowledged at the Fans Forum that he/the club would make mistakes, so the issue here is clearly your agenda/prejudice/hostility.
