Just seen a song for him to be sung to the tune of Madness by Madness…
Madsen, Madsen they call him Madsen. Madsen, Madsen they call him Madsen. He’s the King of the beautiful pass and you can go and kiss his arse Madsen, Madsen they call him Madsen.
If someone on here had said this about Madsen last season, their sanity would have been questioned.
His improvement for me this season, has been extraordinary. His game is more about his abilities to see the forward pass, but adding bite to his game on top of developing his creativity, its quite incredible.
Very early days but if this form continues, he has a very decent season ahead of him.
If this form continues right through (he will have off games of course) to May , do you think he will push himself forward to be considered for a trip to the USA next summer ?
It’s not beyond the realms of possibility. They have to qualify too of course , but they should do , what with there being about 120 countries involved this time.
It’s a long way off and there is a lot that can happen . But to think that he could even be anywhere close to a Danish cap even 6 weeks ago was ludicrous.

Without really knowing anything about the Danish team, the few players I could name all play in midfield i think - Eriksen, Delaney, Norgaard... but then no idea if they are also having good seasons or what-not.
His game improved at the end of last season and he created chances for the team. He has clearly kicked on from then and is now getting stuck in to tackles. This has made him a much better midfielder and yes a bit more similar to the likes of Masson & Wilkins. He also reminds me of Mike Fillery, another midfielder who was lambasted in his early, but later on became a very useful player.
Well done to him, Julien, the coaches and possibly to his teammates for the help they have given to settle into this league.

I like.
To a lot of our singing fans Madness are like Glenn Miller.

Great shout regards Mike Fillery.
i saw him at QPR and was living in Portsmouth during his time playing for them and always looked like a strong centre mid and his creative side was very underrated.
He was definitely a player that went under the radar...

Good shout on Mike Fillery - good player, and I always remember that home game with Norwich (if you were there, you know) when he was booed literally every time he touched the ball and reminded of his previous connection with a certain SW London club. Felt sorry for him.

Feels like a rite of passage for any Chelscum player that comes our way (and there have been a few).
I'll be giving Vale a few "Cobham reject" shouts at the next game
I'm learning a bit about Fillery on here in the last few weeks. Been an education.
I only saw him from '85 to '87, and I was never impressed with him. Talented, definitely, had to be on that plastic pitch, all of our players in that era could play imo, but I just don't think he did enough, thought he looked out of shape and frequently lost his battle.
But if he got that amount of abuse in his first couple of years, then he was hardly primed for peak performance, I suppose.
Been reading about him this morning, and turns out he was Player of the Year in SW6 before joining us.

As a Danish R I would love to see Madsen in the Danish national team one day — but let’s be real, it’s totally unrealistic at the moment. Even the three players you mentioned are stuck on the bench. Even Eriksen doesn’t start anymore. Right now, Denmark’s midfield is stacked: Højbjerg (at -Spurs, now at Marseille) Hjulmand (captain at Sporting) Froholdt (the next big thing at Porto) Damsgaard (Brentford) O'Riley (formerly Celtic & Brighton, now at Marseille) There are two Championship players in the Danish squad though — Vestergaard (Leicester) and Roerslev (Southampton) — which shows it’s not impossible for Madsen to break through eventually. If he keeps raising his level, it could happen down the line. But right now, I would say there are at least 15-20 players ahead of him in the queue.

Yes, he apparently is half and half. Born in London, to a Danish mother and English father, Began his career with Fulham, where he spent 11 years having joined them at the age of eight. At international level he represented England at under-16, under-18 and under-21 level, before opting to play for Denmark at senior level and made his debut in November 2023.
I like David Mc and his enthusiasm-curbed, circumspect demeanour. James Paterson isn't always completely coherent, but he's urbane and articulate as well. Actually, DM began his pod by asking if humble pie should be eaten re Madsen. Both he and KG acknowledged he's improved a lot, while saying, basically, he now needed to keep on doing it consistently. DM was also honest enough to say Madsen's improvement had surprised him. All of which seems about right to me, as does their 6/7-10 grading.
