Would love to see the running stats suspect they are not much different as in the current role he does not have to press in the way he had to when as the 10 or in a midfield 3.
I also wonder whether what we have seen in the defensive side is the first Steve Bould impact
Doubt it's Steve Bould, I'd assume that having Alou Diarra as coach is having more impact on the midfield.
If the crowd have a Madsen song, that would really help him.
Madsen, Madsen, they call him Madsen Some people don't get him But he's really not bad-sen. It's plain to see That he's helping us up the league Madsen, Madsen, they call him Madsen
'What do we want? We don't know! When do we want it? Now!'
All I can say is, he was excellent in Denmark, and also for Herenveen in Holland. My Dutch best friend (Herenveen fan) raved about him. So I've been quietly waiting and expecting him to come good after he'd acclimatised to the championship. Crossing fingers we will see the best of him.
His one touch passing today was the highlight of his game........it gives the receiving player much needed time on the ball.
Saw this too. One in particular in the second half, more on the left hand side. Might have been to Saito. Simple first time pass, no more than 10 yards but took about 4 players out the game and gave us the momentum

In addition to this , Saito is very good and making himself available for such a pass .
I truly think a big part of it is simply that he now has a quick, mobile set of players around him, which enables his biggest strength – his range of passing – into play.
Obviously, he's more confident, but he was also not the right player to be paired with last year's forward line.
Much cooler than my proposed effort, although I literally did sequence yours as the theme tune to Flipper. Maybe the Prince Buster estate have a claim?
Mine was something on the lines of:
"All around him he's sees familiar faces, they're lack of paces, trying to make space'eee'ss
All our fans find find him funny.... find him kind of sad, But when he sends them balls forward, he's the best we've ever had.
Reading through this thread , I can’t help but smile at the praise he is now getting . It’s genuinely heart warming and pleasing for the lad.
I do think his improvement is down to many things . He has acclimatised and adjusted to the physicality and pace of the championship . The coaching staff and head coach are certainly using him better and have coached him very well. That doesn’t have to be a criticism of Cifuentes either. Marti had a lot of plates to spin ( JS does also of course ) and maybe his priorities laid elsewhere ? It reminds me of Gravenberch at Liverpool . His first season under Klopp was not great at all . Yet under Slott he has been a different player. Some players just suit different coaches and styles.
Whatever the reason, he is starting to show us that he is a very good player .
We have to credit the individual the most for turning it around , so good on him.
Confidence I think is a big factor. I think he was almost scared to make a mistake last season.
Maybe we don't need a Madsen thread after next weeks match? Unless ParkRoyalR catches Madsen in bed with his wife and daughter this week?
Classy post, best leave the funnies to Disco & Boston heh,
Lets put it another way, if I was Ruben handing out the pay packets every month for the last 12 months and I'm giving this bloke £30k a month, I want to give him the feedback that Jimmy Dunne did the other week,
I get we're all euphoric after a great home win,
I get Northern scored him a 7 in his Match Report,
Likely his highest match day rating after his first consistent contribution over 90 minutes,
But given his free role and our minimal expectations of him when we are out of possession, that level of performance is the minimum I would expect week in week out of a player we paid that money for.
Vale & Saito have set the standards in goals & assists for the 10's and lets hope Madsen can consistently do that too, starting @ Hillsborough, a big pitch that takes some covering.

But Saito and Vale aren't playing 10 and neither is Madsen.

Article on Madsen with some stats thrown in if you like that kind of stuff…
"So far this season, Madsen sits in the top 4% for chances created compared to rival Championship midfielders (9). His defensive contributions have been impressive too, winning 66.7% of duels and 11 aerial duels. He ranks in the top 7% and 4% for those respective metrics"
Fair play those are impressive stats, especially the ranking for duels and aerial duels, given the reputation he had last season.
From my point of view the main change in Madsen is the players around him now, dare I say that we look like a proper football team from top to bottom. We have strength in depth as well, I don't like to get too carried away but, I like what I'm seeing now from all the players. Just keep it up.
