Madsen 14:30 - Sep 20 with 4618 views | Lblock | Been a harsh critic (deservedly so in my opinion) but credit where it’s due - good game today Put himself about and won a few tackles but also some really intelligent passes and took up good positions when out of possession Fair play Close to MoM but that’s Saito for me

Madsen on 17:12 - Sep 20 with 1619 views | smudgehoop | Really got stuck in today. The defensive role suits his height and he has less running to do. But the big plus is that we can play out from the back with him. Remember last season when Morgan took Madsen's place in the starting XI. Well Madsen has deservedly taken it back!

Madsen on 17:16 - Sep 20 with 1576 views | ChrisNW6 | If Madsen does turn this round and continues to become the play he could be......we might need a recruitment under Nourry thread. The starting outfield players average age was 23yrs and they all looked like established Championship players.
Madsen on 17:31 - Sep 20 with 1477 views | nix | My favourite moment for him today, that shows the progress he's made was when he saw a header coming towards him in the centre of the pitch, looks over to the large Stoke player next to him, shoulder barges him out of the way and wins the header. The penny has started to drop. Pleased for him.
Madsen on 17:35 - Sep 20 with 1431 views | gazza1 | His one touch passing today was the highlight of his game........it gives the receiving player much needed time on the ball.

Madsen had his best game for us today. Excellent all round performance. Long may his improvement continue.

Madsen on 18:04 - Sep 20 with 1291 views | sexton | He was terrific today. I'm so pleased for him. The move that led to the keeper's top corner save from Vale included several quick passes from Madsen down in the left hand corner.
Madsen on 18:11 - Sep 20 with 1256 views | baz_qpr | I think the difference for me is that the way we play the ball is more often than not in front of him, What was impressive today was his reading of the game to step in and be in right place at the right time to win the tackle, header etc. What he is not being asked to do is press, where often the most criticism has come for him because he just did not have the speed or stamina to do it and we are now playing to his strengths. Starting to look a very good partnership with Varane | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Madsen on 18:25 - Sep 20 with 1200 views | Esox_Lucius | His reading of the game was very evident at a Stoke free kick in the 2nd half when the taker, instead of crossing into the 6yd box, fired it across the 18yd box and as soon as he struck it, Madsen was across to him in a flash. In the first half, he also chased back to put pressure on an opposition break after Jimmy had been dispossessed up the pitch.

The main thing with Madsen is that he’s tackling player and winning headers. His quality on the ball has always been there. Last few games he’s been really good and exactly what we’ve been missing for years.

Madsen on 17:11 - Sep 20 by Esox_Lucius | We'll know the tide has turned when ParkRoyalR says he was not bad. |
Did you know we'd be a place higher tonight if it hadn't been for Super Lyndon's last minute goal?

Madsen on 19:18 - Sep 20 with 997 views | Lanhoop | Maybe we don't need a Madsen thread after next weeks match? Unless ParkRoyalR catches Madsen in bed with his wife and daughter this week?
Madsen on 19:25 - Sep 20 with 955 views | PhilmyRs | I’ve stuck up for Madsen and really pleased with his efforts recently. While no issues with him on the ball today, it wasn’t too dissimilar to other performances. What was vastly different was what he did without the ball. Players bounced off him - been on the weights? - a sliding tackle second half that showed bottle and some important headers too. 6/10 with the ball, 8 out of 10 without it. Well played Sir.

We'd be above Coventry and in the playoffs if they didn't for some reason have a superior goal difference.... [Post edited 20 Sep 19:45]

Madsen on 20:18 - Sep 20 with 784 views | BrazilNutR | Also thought he looked very good today, some lovely passing, and some great pressing and winning the ball, those long legs cause the opposition problems.
Madsen on 20:50 - Sep 20 with 699 views | QPR_Jim | Looked like he had much more fight in him than I've seen before which makes the world of difference at this level. Made some good challenges and won the ball back, worked hard for the team as well as passing the ball well as well know he can. Very pleasing to see.

I think he’s been coached a lot better than last season and is really benefiting from JS’s faith in him. He’s adapting to the Championship and understands the need to compete harder. His ability to see the quick and simple pass was very clear today.

Madsen on 15:39 - Sep 20 by Northernr | Terrific today. Both sides of the ball. |
That was the main thing to me, we know he can pass the ball, we know he’s got a lovely first touch, but off the ball he was excellent, after being nonexistent last season. I counted three really key interceptions in the first 15mins. Really pleased for him, and us!
Madsen on 23:00 - Sep 20 with 353 views | HotCurrie | 3 or 4 really good defensive headers in the first 20 mins, some great interceptions and even a sliding tackle or two. He's so composed on the ball that I can't remember any Stoke players dispossessing him. Tried some quick through balls to Kone and Burrell that would have been goals if they'd come off. His body language is casual and he does tend to stroll around which was a virtue for many past players we loved but looks odd in the mega fit, all-action, run like a bastard 2025 Championship. I thought JS was going to sub him on 80 mins but instead he gave him an energy gel and a drink and he saw out the rest of the match comfortably. Hope he continues to grow in fitness and confidence.

And it is mainly interceptions, although there was one crucial tackle. Not a criticism though - he reads the game so well.

Madsen on 23:37 - Sep 20 with 226 views | Padulas_Shampoo | Thought he was fantastic today. Really, really encouraging performance. Won the ball a couple of times in their third, often looking to go forward and I found myself urging the defense to give him the ball as often as possible. Can't believe I'm about to type this but I think I agree with Ned K. It looks like Stephan is getting far more out of him than Marti ever managed too. Long may this continue. I'm beginning to get a bit gooey about this Rangers team. What is happening?
Madsen on 00:29 - Sep 21 with 124 views | VancouverHoop | I never bought into the idea that he was "hiding." We saw flashes of what he was capable of last season but only when he had the ball, which wasn't often, because he's essentially a one-touch player. He's clearly far more confident now, his team-mates recognise that and it shows.
Madsen on 00:55 - Sep 21 with 64 views | numptydumpty | I know he was a part of the Jummy Dunne coffee group posse last season and respected Jimmy. Perhaps with Jimmy now being captain has helped Madsen also. Ie his mate having a pop at him in the games so that he remains focused, he can respond to and I think Stephan comes across as more of "an arm around the shoulder" type of manager as opposed to Cifuentes, who was probably more combative as a person, has helped also.
