Been a harsh critic (deservedly so in my opinion) but credit where it’s due - good game today

Put himself about and won a few tackles but also some really intelligent passes and took up good positions when out of possession

Fair play

Close to MoM but that’s Saito for me

I’m off out for something to eat tonight

I hope there’s humble pie on the menu

First 25 minutes I thought he was best player on park.
Dropped off a bit but then second half worked really well

Fair play that man

He's now set a new benchmark for performances over the past few matches.

His partnership with Varane is turning into something special.

One of the first players on the team sheet for me right now..

Much improved. Long may it continue. I'd like to see a bit more creativity going forward and some goals but that's me being a bit greedy.

Made the most tackles today and seems to being trying to physically impose himself. For a guy who looked as though the effort wasn't there, especially defensively. He is working so well in a two. Just need Varane to be mire consistent. He'll do something really good, then immediately have a brain fart. They work well together though

He's been a completely different player this season, and looking far more like the player we all thought we were getting when we first signed him. I think he's shown just how hard it can be to adjust immediately to the Championship, and how important it is not to completely write players off. Very glad he's turned it around, and hope he continues to be a key player for us.

Wasn’t there today, but, fair play, it sounds like he played very well. Good on him. Keep it up for the season, please.

My MOTM.

He's going really well now.

And this is despite - and I swear I'm not knocking him, just pointing it out - despite him switching off for their goal.

One of our best players in the first half, relatively quiet second but did a fair job. Good part of a good win.

Madsen is playing better for sure but he was never as bad as many posters posted…….some of it was proper unkind and not justified and extremely disrespectful but hey ho, he is giving you the two fingers which is what I would do as well. Let’s hope it continues.

It was Madsen, and especially Cook imo, LongsufferingR.

Madsen slowed up and didn't track back. He could have put pressure on the initial cross if he had. And he definitely would've been back for the header when it was played back in from the left.

And Cook, well Cook just seemed to switch off altogether. NorrisGreen posted that it was incredibly windy up there, which is good info - maybe Cook just presumed that the initial cross was drifting wide for a goal-kick. But either way it was his man who headed home unchallenged with Cook lost and having no choice to but to hit the goal-line in the hope of heading off the line. I think he'll be very relieved we came back to win.

Totally agreexBrian he was my MOTM as well

Think the goal was a bit of a fluke....we were right behind that cross... and thatvwas either a top piece of skill or a fluke, to volley that back over perfectly... takes some doing

Everyone around us was stunned into silence by it... so I can imagine the defence were the same

Thought Madsen possibly had his best game to date. The number of interceptions and quick tackles he made (in the first half particularly) really impressed me - he was reading the game brilliantly. But it was his passing that was the big difference: quick, round-the-corner moves, receiving and releasing in tight areas, ridiculous.

Either he's getting it, or I'm starting to get him.

Think it was a collective switch off to be fair, Brian. I just watched it back a little while ago, it was a remarkable volley back into the box by the BC wide player. 9 times out of ten that would have skewed out for a goal kick, especially in that wind.

I think you're right, Myke.

But that's not the point.
You chase until the chase is dead.
You fight until the fight is over.
You play to the only one whistle in the world.

This is why we are weak for decades. We forgive this stuff. We allow this stuff. We really shouldn't.

Cook was poor on this one.
Madsen was poor on this one.

Both are in my top three today, by the way. Regardless.

Yeh theirs was a freak goal but we mostly defended quite well against a decent side. Madsen was consistent throughout and improving all the time.

Have to say its very impressive form from Madsen this season.

The Oxford game, field and hayden were solid but creativity wasn't a dish on the menu.

Basically when he receives the ball, he is instantly aware of a quick pass to make and often makes an incisive pass that creates space and the move can progress from there.

Other midfielders for ourselves have rarely possessed such a quality, so its refreshing to see.

He does seem to complement the different types of skills Varane can offer, also.

Really pleased for the lad! Shows how hard it is to move country and play in the championship. Doesn’t strike me as an uber confident kind of guy and this league will hit you hard. Love watching him get stuck in and win those those duals. We know he has the vision and now he’s earning the right to play. More please :)

I really liked his pre-season talk where he was hugely self critical of himself and said that he wanted to show what he could do. I like that determination and humbleness. We are now starting to see the player that the scouts saw and thought he could be. He's 25 and improving rapidly. He's got up to speed and everything that seemed to be holding him back is now clicking.

Never knowingly right.

Read the game like a old hand, knew where to be and when. I recall Andersen being impressive with his energy when he arrived but with Madsen you can see he is a very cultured player.

Getting him working with Field and Hayden is the next achievment to unlock.

Can’t underplay the change in coaching either, he is certainly playing deeper

Just back….. no humble pie.

To add:

He’s not a bastard hybrid of Patrick Viera and Xavi just yet. Doing well currently.
I’m yet to see him dominate a whole game, maybe he never will, and that’s fine.
What he is clearly doing now is using his 6ft 4 athleticism to impose himself, he wasn’t at all before. That is allowing him to do the bits he has in his locker that will make him stand out. He’s learning.
So I also need to give credit to the coaching staff. Props.

But today I saw something else as well.
Something down to attitude and approach.
He was barking and cajoling; he was encouraging and supporting; he was looking to dictate to his teammates and frustrated when they didn’t do what he felt they should.
Now THAT tells me far more than 45 yard pinpoint outside of the foot chipped passes.
Keep it up and we might, just might, be onto something here…….

I’m getting to the stage where I feel we should stop talking about him. He’s rubbish, not much to see here.

Did I ever mention that I was in Minder?
