I wasn't interested in fireworks 'til I reached the age of 66. Light the blue touchpaper and retire.

I dread this time of year. My dog is fortunately currently reasonably chill by his standards. I think the pills, Hemp oil and Classic FM blaring next to his ears may be doing the trick. Thank God.

I hear you

Why should I have to dope my two Labs up (natural though…. Thankfully the Kalming Kookies work), leave the lights on all night and have Magic Soul on until 2am?
My biggest concern is dickheads letting them off during the day —- spooking an off lead dog and causing it to bolt in London could be disastrous

I bloody hate ‘em!!!

Been nearly a week now .
6 days of non stop fireworks , from about 7pm until about 1am.
Don’t care what religious celebration it is , it shouldn’t be disturbing everyone else for a week or more .
I realise that’s a fairly un pc thing to say .
But as an atheist and a grumpy old sod , I’d be saying it if it was done a Christmas too .

It’s simply not fair

Trouble is, everyone in Britain turned the space under the stairs into another bog, when that's the space where your dog used to go and curl up in fear at this time of the year.

Fireworks are absolutely shit and should be banned outside of licenced displays.

It is Chav Christmas. They get to combine anti-social behaviour, noise and begging. The only upside is that a few of them will maim themselves with fireworks.

Agree. I'm all for diversity and celebrating whathever national or religious festivals you want to, but letting fireworks off beyond midnight is just antisocial and selfish. People have kids, pets etc and many struggle to sleep even on quiet nights.

Same goes for guy fawkes and all that nonsense. At least on NYE most people have the next day off work.

Fireworks commemorate an attempt to blow up Parliament which failed.
So nothing to celebrate there then.

Strong and stable my arse.

last night was ridiculous round my way, couldn't get my daughter to sleep for hours, they went on until about 2am. My garden is now full of debris from them.

The moaning online about the fireworks has definitely become a British tradition in itself. Cue local Facebook pages demanding to know who let one of at 11pm last night? The classic it scared my dog post. and why oh why wont someone please think of the children and ban it now.

Ohhhhhh bobby zamora

Don't live in an area where Diwali is a big thing so that's not an issue for me

On 5th Nov week, the local facebook lights up with the impact on dogs and HORSES!

They should be restricted to licenced displays only. Last night they were still going at well past 1am and woke me at 4:43 this morning. It's off the scale.

Remember when it used to be a box of "Standard Fireworks" for a few quid? Now they're industrial strength and clowns just letting them off all over, some of the stuff on social media beggars belief in the stupidity levels.

If I started doing that on the Uxbridge Road I'd be arrested and rightly so. Time to put a stop to it.

Saw some lunatic this morning in our local park who looked like he'd been out all night.

Loads of spent fireworks laying around.

I kid you not..... this fella had rockets what I can only describe as bazooka size strapped to the frame of his bike. If they'd been lit whilst he was on it I could see a Back To The Future moment happening.

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

It seems fireworks, like nonces, is something that those around in the 50s/60s/70s pretend didn't happen in their day.

As others have said, wouldn't miss them outside of organised displays though.

It's not un-pc it's logical. No one should be allowed to set off fireworks for weeks on end into the early hours of the morning.

I thought it was illegal to set off fireworks after midnight on Diwali night and 5 November. Are the local police deaf they can't hear them going off in the small hours to put a stop to it?
