With the football season coming to a close in a months time, some here will turn their attention to the smell of freshly mown grass and long days sat in the hot sunny weather watching the great game of cricket.

As a member of Kent Cricket Club, I got to enjoy my first match of the season against Somerset at Canterbury over the last few days. Unfortunately, as is always the way starting the season this early, the first day was lost to rain. In fact nearly all the games were affected by rain, some without a ball even being bowled.

But I did manage to get to see 2 centurions at Canterbury yesterday and a very enjoyable day of cricket (even if I did get sun burned head - Yes I know should have taken a cap).

Did anyone else get to see cricket over the last few days? I know we have several Middlesex supporters who no doubt enjoyed the 'runfest' at Lords (over 1300 runs I believe)

Well its lunch and I will make a bold statement. We are gonna win this test - Solid morning session, with the Indians wound up - they will self destruct

First session negotiated successfully. Twelve overs an hour though from India is absolutely shocking and really short changing spectators.

My point exactly, they know we can do it and are worried. Then the cheek to dig out Duckett and Crawley at the break when it was Indian supporters walking behind the bowlers arm - As Athers said the irony of them when they have tried delaying tactics several times during this match

We're still perfectly capable of a traditional English collapso.

We've got this one. I thought India had a better stock of bowlers to compliment Bumrah.

The other bowlers have been a bit better than Bumrah today but their stamina seems to be lacking so it’s in relatively short bursts.

Must be farkin hard yakka bowling at Duckett mind you. I wouldn’t know where to start with setting a field to him.

Game changing

Hat trick ball.

Stokes to the rescue.

Still think our tail is likely to save us but could do with a nice quick thirty or forty on the board.

Feel as ever Mr Root is now the key...

Bums starting to squeak. Why is Stokes reverse sweeping his third ball?

Their batters from 6-11 got 60 runs total over 2 innings…..mental given some of players they have

The thing that has really shocked me has been the Indian fielding? My park team would be embarrassed by some of it

Awful shot decision by Stokes. Get them right back in it why don't you?

Agreed. If he loses his wicket in the near future it'll become an uphill task for England to win this.

On this occasion Ted, you're spot on

But he does have a lot of credit in the bank with the England support to be fair

Or alternatively, the best England captain since Brearley.

A one-man cricketing colossus.

Never change, England cricket fans. Stokes reverse sweeps Lyon for six in Headingley win = total genius. Stokes reverse sweeps and gets caught against Jadeja = moron.

There's no difference. You can't all bat like Joe Root.

I know what you mean, I just think he is the most selfless leader. He's virtually sacrificed his own batting stats in order to persuade the England team that poking about for 2 an over isn't the way to go.

He's a great leader, and if we win this Test it is another example of how good he is. All the naysayers and old washed up ex captains and experts saying how astonished they were at winning the toss and bowling. Where are they now?

The awful Indian fielding has had a fair bit to do with it if England win.
