With the football season coming to a close in a months time, some here will turn their attention to the smell of freshly mown grass and long days sat in the hot sunny weather watching the great game of cricket.
As a member of Kent Cricket Club, I got to enjoy my first match of the season against Somerset at Canterbury over the last few days. Unfortunately, as is always the way starting the season this early, the first day was lost to rain. In fact nearly all the games were affected by rain, some without a ball even being bowled.
But I did manage to get to see 2 centurions at Canterbury yesterday and a very enjoyable day of cricket (even if I did get sun burned head - Yes I know should have taken a cap).
Did anyone else get to see cricket over the last few days? I know we have several Middlesex supporters who no doubt enjoyed the 'runfest' at Lords (over 1300 runs I believe) [Post edited 4 Apr 13:14]

The awful Indian fielding has had a fair bit to do with it if England win. |
That is one heck of a negative take on what should be a brilliant win. Not our fault if they drop a catch or two - that is all part of the game?
Cheer up - it's a fantastic win and run chase and yet this thread is all about draws and poor shots and now Indian drops!

Whichever team had won today, that is why Test Cricket is the beautiful format and must be protected at all costs. 7 centuries, 35 wickets, pure ebb and flow throughout. Glorious stuff. And it seems England have developed a less wreckless version of Bazball. If only we could get a firing Wood and Archer fit, we could give the Aussies a proper go but without i think we may fall short on their home turf. Batting line up looks the most solid for about 15 years or so. |  |

Yes I was mad at Stokes for giving up his wicket unnecessarily, maybe It was a 'heat of the moment' thing, maybe I was expecting too much from Stokes hence my *He's a pratt* comment after he got himself out. I'd like to take back calling Stokes a pratt but I can't, It was wrong of me for saying It.
Brook 99 in his first Innings and frustratingly throwing away his wicket In his second innings hopefully he'll learn from It.

He has the ability and brain to score big and probably captain England Test team for many years to come. |
Agreed, but he was fortunate to get to 99 in the first innings (caught of the no-ball and dropped twice IIRC) and his shot to get out in the second was a bit braindead. No issue with him playing some of those big shots, but read the room - just lost a wicket, get set, shore things up, then play your game. Big fan though and his captaincy of the white ball team has got off to a great start.
As an aside, Tongue didn't look like doing much against the top order but his snaffling of the tail was invaluable in this win. Not to be overlooked, given how frequently we've come unstuck there in the past and allowed opposition bowlers to add on another 50+ runs. |  | | |

Brook clearly an amazing talent but I really don't think he's the sharpest tool in the box. I just knew he'd be out early yesterday (maybe not that early!)
Anyway great win and kudos to the England batsmen, arguably would have been a lot tighter if India could catch.
Looking forward to the Edgbaston Test, I'll be there on the Saturday in the Hollies stand along with the other finest analytical minds in cricket  |  |
