With the football season coming to a close in a months time, some here will turn their attention to the smell of freshly mown grass and long days sat in the hot sunny weather watching the great game of cricket.

As a member of Kent Cricket Club, I got to enjoy my first match of the season against Somerset at Canterbury over the last few days. Unfortunately, as is always the way starting the season this early, the first day was lost to rain. In fact nearly all the games were affected by rain, some without a ball even being bowled.

But I did manage to get to see 2 centurions at Canterbury yesterday and a very enjoyable day of cricket (even if I did get sun burned head - Yes I know should have taken a cap).

Did anyone else get to see cricket over the last few days? I know we have several Middlesex supporters who no doubt enjoyed the 'runfest' at Lords (over 1300 runs I believe)

Whilst I agree we carry too many of this team, the rest of them are more than capable of beating India.

Those possessed by devils, try and keep them under control a bit, can't you ?

They've batted like it's a humid, overcast day with the ball swinging round corners. 30+ degrees, perfect conditions, they should have been making the Indians chase the ball to all parts.

Disagree. I was there today, it was mega challenging batting today for both sides. Although Crawley looked like a dead man walking from the start. And i still don't rate Pope at 3.

I’d like to see Bethel in for Pope now.

Wood for Woakes - if he’s ever fit again.

Crawley is harder to fix and I suspect they will stick with him, all the way through the Ashes.

As for a spinner that can bat - we need a new Wheelie Bin.

Pressure on all the players told by the sounds of it, but this match is far from over and will be a great first session tomorrow but India do bat deep

On a side note...

Was there a QPR supporter on here wearing a QPR bucket hat, who was at the St Lawrence ground to watch Kent hammer Middlesex today, I did say hello

Crawley should be at 3, drop/demote Pope & play Crawley in his proper batting position. They won’t break the Crawley-Duckett partnership though.

I was there yesterday. Sat top of the Compton Upper in full sun all day. Bit melty!

Was a great day's cricket. Fair to say England batted terribly, I appreciate it's a tricky pitch and India bowled well but as ever the mindset was all wrong. They only needed to bat another hour and add 50 more runs or so to make it really interesting for India. Great comeback with the ball but you still expect India to win today especially if Pant tees off.

I thought Pope got a decent delivery, whereas Duckett Crawley Brook all gifted their wickets (Brook is so frustrating - great talent but if only he had a brain to go with it). But I'm not expecting major changes for the 4th Test, it's not what they do.

Pope reminds me so much of Ian bell. I think a spell out will do him good. I hope we don't go to Oz with Crawley opening. No idea who takes his place?

Both Pant and now Rahul gone. England surely must be in with a good chance of winning it now.

82-7…..

Sundar just gone after having claimed India would win just after lunch.

Great caught and bowled by Jofra.

Spent the whole series so far bemoaning our attack but talking up our batting line up (Crawley and Pope aside), for them to let us down and get completely bailed out by the bowlers. Funny old sport. What a morning.

Different gravy this morning - he was bang average in the last session and pulled for Carse.

Just great to see him back and smiling, loving it again.

As for Stokes, he’s as riled up as I’ve seen him for a while and vocal with it.

The Indian team and Shubbers in particular made a big mistake the other evening.

Washington Sundar coming out and saying that India will definitely win it just after lunch was foolish. They were in a strong position, they needed a few calm heads to take the sting out of it this morning. Throwing petrol on the fire was not advisable.

Stokes is truly back as bowler...great stuff. And what a captain, all over the team with encouragement and pumping up this morning. One of the greats.

I'm reminded of slow-drip water torture, with each drop hitting your forehead on a regular basis, becoming more annoying with every drop and there is nothing you can do about it.
