With the football season coming to a close in a months time, some here will turn their attention to the smell of freshly mown grass and long days sat in the hot sunny weather watching the great game of cricket.

As a member of Kent Cricket Club, I got to enjoy my first match of the season against Somerset at Canterbury over the last few days. Unfortunately, as is always the way starting the season this early, the first day was lost to rain. In fact nearly all the games were affected by rain, some without a ball even being bowled.

But I did manage to get to see 2 centurions at Canterbury yesterday and a very enjoyable day of cricket (even if I did get sun burned head - Yes I know should have taken a cap).

Did anyone else get to see cricket over the last few days? I know we have several Middlesex supporters who no doubt enjoyed the 'runfest' at Lords (over 1300 runs I believe)

Thank goodness for that 9th wicket falling, I was starting to get worried.

I'm reminded of slow-drip water torture, with each drop hitting your forehead on a regular basis, becoming more annoying with every drop and there is nothing you can do about it.

I know what you mean.

I would add that Lords is really not a ‘home’ ground for today, as Edgbastard tends to be.

There’s been very little support for all the effort in the field and it’s been painful listening to each of the runs being celebrated, one by one. There’s even a celebration of shots that yield NO RUN.

I’m also surprised Stokes has been allowed to nearly kill himself to death.

Those possessed by devils, try and keep them under control a bit, can't you ?

Blimey England win by 22 runs. Really piled it on with the bowling today.

Never knowingly right.

I know why people like T20 and one day but Test cricket is something else when it's like this. It's been a superb series so far.

It's always noisiest at the shallow end

Good to see them all shake hands at the end. Play hard but respect when it’s all over. How top level sport should be.

Currently in Corfu, at 5.00 local time (2 hours ahead) I said to the mrs, “just going into the pool bar to see the last couple of wickets in the cricket, shouldn’t be too long”
2hours later and several pints of Mythos I returned to our room.

I was on holiday in Spain while Stoke won the Ashes test with his unbeaten century.I couldn’t move from beside the pool in case I lost the signal.
The family went out for lunch and came back and I was still engrossed in it.Today was very similar, but no pool to jump in to cool off this time.

Brilliant Test cricket going deep into a 3rd consecutive 5th day. Take note those who want to move to 4 days to pander to shorter version.

Great sportsmanship and respect from the Winners today too.

Absolutely loved my day at Lords yesterday- and this series has been utterly fantastic to watch.

At its best, test cricket is unparalleled in sport to me. There's just so much going on.

I almost jumped up mid-meeting when Archer skittled Pant. Had it on on the phone with my glasses off so the reflection wouldn't give me away.

West Indies bowl out Australia for 121, need 204 to win…14/6. Those Aussie bowlers are indestructible.

26/6 now. Starc 7-4-8-5.

What a great test match

Cant see what Numpty has said but I'll hazard a guess that its jettison Crawley, take him to the local village green and throw rotten tomatoes at him and bring back the messiah that is Sibley. I noticed an interesting point, that we won by 22 runs. One player scored exactly 22 runs in the 2nd innings - I'll leave that there

On a serious note though, I was very nervous when Bumrah and Siraj were at the crease and thought back to Stokes and Leach and prayed the tables wouldn't be turned. It was great to show Siraj what sportsmanship is all about and hopefully in the last 2 tests that will be appreciated. I cannot deny I really didn't think yesterday afternoon we stood a chance but this England side has a real resilience and shows that whether they need to chase a big score, or bowl out a side defending a low one they have the comradery to give it their all. To all of you that went over the last few days hope you've had a great time because test cricket like that does not come along very often.

I dont agree with rotation or changing a winning side but I understand the need for bowlers nowadays. However the rest of the team, why would you change a winning formula. To be 2-1 up in a series against one of the best test teams in the world is good enough for me

More of the same at Old Trafford now

I wish the Aussie bowlers would hurry up and get in transition! Spicy pitch and pink ball obviously in the Windies, but they are consistently so good. I am just not sure how we are going to get the runs. Having Archer hopefully back will make a huge difference, but their last hurrah in a home Ashes is going to very difficult to resist.

Ha same for me but we were in France - we'd been at the beach and got back to our place, Stokes and Leach were in, last wicket. Once I'd sat down I couldn't move till the game was over!

The only change will be Bashir, who’s broken his hand and finger apparently.

If they’d lost it might have been different but you don’t change a winning team under Stokes and Baz.

I heard that the Indians were asking Stokes what happened to Bazball in the middle whilst he was batting. I guess that chirp didn’t work for them either.

Much better drama than any of the current TV series….each day is a new episode to binge watch.

Those possessed by devils, try and keep them under control a bit, can't you ?
