Cricket 2025 County/International Thread 13:39 - Apr 9 with 100777 views | Superhoops2808 | With the football season coming to a close in a months time, some here will turn their attention to the smell of freshly mown grass and long days sat in the hot sunny weather watching the great game of cricket. As a member of Kent Cricket Club, I got to enjoy my first match of the season against Somerset at Canterbury over the last few days. Unfortunately, as is always the way starting the season this early, the first day was lost to rain. In fact nearly all the games were affected by rain, some without a ball even being bowled. But I did manage to get to see 2 centurions at Canterbury yesterday and a very enjoyable day of cricket (even if I did get sun burned head - Yes I know should have taken a cap). Did anyone else get to see cricket over the last few days? I know we have several Middlesex supporters who no doubt enjoyed the 'runfest' at Lords (over 1300 runs I believe) [Post edited 4 Apr 13:14]

Whether it is tonight or tomorrow, having criticised the gung ho approach when it was in the bag, conversely now they've got to start having a go. We're only 3-4 boundaries away from winning. Smith has to go for it, poking about is not going to work. You think coming back tomorrow would favour us but I can see it being a majority Indian crowd so maybe not?

This. On way home now. Nerves slightly eased but worth every penny for 6-7 hours of that irrespective of who wins. Not sure I’ll be saying the same 5pm next Saturday…

Think the Indians have got to be favourite now. Night's rest for their seamers, new ball nearly due and our batsmen gone completely into their shell. The Indian fans will be right up for it. Smith tomorrow morning has to start playing a few shots to relieve the pressure that's for sure.

I know what you mean but I think we were stuffed if we hadn't gone off. Smith was surely about to nick one and don't trust Overton. At least now we can get Smith's head straight and literally a couple of good shots and it is all but done. Or....argh.
Cricket 2025 County/International Thread on 18:47 - Aug 3 with 881 views | JamesB1979 | Definitely good for England that day finished early. Looked very dark and the ball was moving around. Also, crowd and momentum was with them. If England get to within 20, then pressure goes back to India.

Agreed. We were under the cosh there, couldn't score and pressure was building. A proper reset and Smith comes out tomorrow morning to finish it off. I've got tickets for tomorrow, was sure we wouldn't see any cricket so a nice surprise. Been an incredible series, the eb and flow has been amazing. So many narratives and a lot of needle in there between the teams. Great spectacle. Gutted that's it until the Ashes now.

Atkinson and Overton can bat, but really down to Smith. Would be great finish if Woakes came out with less than 5 needed and England won it.

Cricket 2025 County/International Thread on 19:22 - Aug 3 with 752 views | numptydumpty | Until Brooks got over excited, we were absolutely cruising to victory... A nervous night but three possibly four wickets to lose, would be a hell of a victory for India, but a travesty of a defeat for ourselves... I am not one hundred percent confident but Jamie Smith is class and I feel a few boundaries from Overton and Atkinson and we should be OK. Such a shame for the fans today though, to be left in limbo land !!! [Post edited 3 Aug 19:25]

What a fitting end and tribute that would be - nice one, BC !

Cricket 2025 County/International Thread on 20:16 - Aug 3 with 654 views | Superhoops2808 | So I had time to reflect on the way home from work and here is where I am at: Smith will stay there with an overnight chat with Stokes/Root. Overton, If honest I have no faith. I do not believe there is not a better allrounder in the county game that could play but anyway, he's there and it is what it is - let me be proven wrong However, here is the big point. That new ball will be nice and shiny and hard (ooo err) and will fly to the boundary - 9 boundaries and game over. Keep our 4 wickets intact until the new ball and we will win I have raved on about Smith all series. Time for him to get us over the line with Atkinson as back up

Would love Overton to see the game through and prove a point - but most likely he'll be out for a duck.
