Manager situation 09:47 - Jun 8 with 87535 views | stainrods_elbow | MC has been on GL for nearly 6 weeks now - and not a whisper from the club, not even to clarify what they propose to do with him (or he with them)! It's pathetic and unacceptable. The club also, obviously, needs to be planning its pre-season and recruitment. We're supposed to be operating a professional entity, with buy-in from the fans. Pah! What will/should happen next? [Post edited 8 Jun 9:49]

And as I said on another post somewhere, its all very well doing it and feeling smug and clever until the team is on a giant losing streak, at the bottom of the table, and everyone is screaming blue murder on matchdays. Then you just look stupid. I see Donald Trump is having a birthday military parade soon, perhaps when its Christian's birthday we can have a parade past the Director's box of all the QPR playing squads, from senior men down to the kids?

Maybe because they cant understand why the analytics keep throwing up Cifuentes as he has the added championship experience to the requisites and now don`t know if they follow the data or not :-)

That’s unfair … what about us fans? Can I be right behind him in my new expensive new replica team shirt, QPR cap and scarf clapping at his every wave and comment. Love all that staged support stuff. “Make QPR Great Again” - MQPRGA!

Manager situation on 22:13 - Jun 10 by Beans | The production and design of kits is an outsourced function. Our kit provider Errea are a smaller firm. If they have delayed production in a way that costs us money then I suspect when their contact with us is up we will move to a more efficient company. So now I've responded to your questions how about you or Simmo respond on my points raised in my previous post in relation to the obviously bigger point about signings and contract renewal news. Also the considering ticket sales are at least 50 times more significant in terms of revenue lets see if we can get a smart answer out of you in the context of that point I suggest that by spreading out the contract and new signings news it drives more traffic to the clubs site over a longer period of time and a higher number of days. As opposed to doing all the news in late May or early June as you wish (when things like QPR Cash dates were driving additional incentives for ticket sales) By spreading out the news it decreases the chance the less committed, less engaged fans or on the fence about buying tickets fans miss the news. And it instead increases the chance they see the news on a day they have more money in their pocket or more time on their hands. Also they might see it this way on a day they are just in a better mood than normal. In the same way airports have fancy high end shops because when people have time on their hands and are in a good mood they are more likely to make impulsive spending decisions, like in this case buying tickets for football. Your focus on shirt sales I think will make minimal difference but I suspect you focused on that small point as you didn't have a rational point to dismiss my point on the topic of ticket sales which is 50x more significant at least [Post edited 10 Jun 22:14]

I've been away & I'm only now catching up on anything related to Queens Park Rangers. Or anything that didn't affect Kefalonia! I'm not in the camp that wants/expects the club to give full infomation regarding players signing contracts, but the idea that this gives Rangers a "competitive edge" raises a smile at the very least. All of this information is known to the club, the player, the players agent, the FA & the EFL. Possibly to the PFA as well & the chances of it being kept confidential is on the low side. I understand why this is an important issue to some, so I will leave my questions to other matters (including ticket sales). 1) Unless I'm mistaken, the club have not published a thank you to Ashby, Saito & Yang for their efforts as loanees. Is this important? No, but it is the norm at all clubs & extremely impolite to ignore these players. Does it affect ticket sales? No, but it possibly raises questions on how the club regard their staff. This is not the same as any announcement regarding players that are reaching the end of their contract as the loanees would have already left the club, rather than on the 30th June. On to ticket sales. 2) There will be some season ticket holders who will not be renewing. This happens every year, but the Cifuentes situation might increase the number this season. The explanation you give would sugest that the club have written off those sales & are doing little/nothing to keep their custom. Will the club publish if they sell more new season tickets than those not renewed? After all, this would be a test as to whether this part of their strategy has worked. "I suggest that by spreading out the contract and new signings news it drives more traffic to the clubs site over a longer period of time and a higher number of days. As opposed to doing all the news in late May or early June as you wish (when things like QPR Cash dates were driving additional incentives for ticket sales)" 3) I can fully understand that a deluge of information in late June, would be aimed at trying to market new ST sales & would commend the club on trying to drive these. Wouldn't these likely customers be waiting until July in any case before buying ST's as that will be when they can see all the seats that are available? 4) Why would spreading out transfer/new signing news "drive more traffic to the club site"? My reading of your post is that the club are deliberately witholding information & so the chances of anyone visiting the club site would surely decrease rather than increase. Again, it would be interesting if the club issued the number of site visitors per day & how that compares to the past. 5) Does QPR Cash dates greatly drive ST sales? I would sugest that supporters renewing fall into one of the following categories, none of which depend on QPR cash or release of information:- i) Automatic renewal, with the club still receiving the monthly payments. ii) Those that renew immediately. iii) Those, like me, that always wait until the last week of the discounted deadline. I do accept that what you are saying is the club policy & I'm delighted that there is a considerable growth in our number of young fans, but you ignore the more established followers at your risk. They are the people that provide the most revenue!

Great post, Terry - makes total sense on all points! I've been following this thread religiously over the last few weeks but never had the time/energy to come up with anything worth adding - feel like everything's been covered several times over, by lots of regular posters whose thoughts I really value, expressing things far better than I could. For context, I am: a long-standing and regular match-going fan, member for two decades but never had a season ticket, for a range of personal reasons; embarrassed by the way the managerial situation has been handled; sick of the selective communication, which seems to make really fertile ground for rumours, counter-rumours, ;apprehensive about how any new manager will do when, Paal apart, we don't have much/any confirmation of official ins and outs of senior players so close to pre-season; really concerned that Nourry is not improving in terms of communications, and seemingly content for the older/"legacy" fans to feel increasingly alienated from the club; looking forward to going to my next game, when the fixtures are announced, because I always do! Favourite cheese (as I don't think I've ever shared this on my few posts before): manchego | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Yeah well firstly that all sounded like nonsense. But also that was about transfer news and kits (?). Surely it be idiotic to delay announcement of new manager unless there’s some legal reason.

Manager situation on 09:32 - Jun 12 by QPR_Jim | Yeah, it doesn't make a lot of sense. Even if you were focusing on one demographic of fan, you could and should also keep other fans happy, they're not mutually exclusive. You could have someone at the ground every day filming content for tiktok to keep the younger fans happy and then also provide news via the website for "legacy to" fans. The implication that because they're always going to turn up you can treat them like dirt is horrible and perplexing that someone claiming to be part of that group would accept it. At the end of the day, if a group is going to have the power to make his position untenable, it's the "legacy" fans who actually turn up and could easily protest. So perhaps their strategy should treat them with more respect. |
Right, but you can't announce the same news twice. Is the controversy around the definition of "constant" as it relates to content? To us, constant means we find out 10 minutes after the club finds out, whereas to a TikTok kid, constant means a predictable flow of non-information, plus major announcements timed to occur just as you're getting bored. Every football fan since 1860 has wished that their club would treat them with more respect, but here we are. I don't "accept" it. It's crap. But how else do you explain the facts that are in front of you - is Nourry getting up in the morning and thinking "how can I piss off the legacy fans today so they go and watch Hayes & Yeading instead?"

I don't think Nourry intends to piss us off. I don't think he thinks much about us at all. I don't blame him for being that way, he was brought in to extract cash not mother us. That's a modern football problem of which he is the symptom not the cause. [Post edited 12 Jun 12:13]

Manager situation on 12:33 - Jun 12 with 3298 views | Wilkinswatercarrier | I think three things have happened regarding how clubs treat clubs. Firstly is pretty obvious, the influx of money. Secondly, is how people now obtain information and communicate. Thirdly, we have all gotten older. Ask any 20 something and they are fine with club communication as it is all on Twitter and Instagram, official or leaked.

Manager situation on 09:45 - Jun 12 by LongRanger | For what its worth, I don't think Beans is a Nourry PR mole (I think CharlieB was), but the way Beans writes tries to imply they're very smart, however the grammar they use suggests otherwise. I think its someone already on this forum creating a new profile to throw a grenade and enjoy some limelight, which if so is embarrassing and sad in equal measure. Also an interesting flow of posts along the 12 pages, to suggest both profiles could be involved in it. I might be totally wrong, just an opinion. |
