Manager situation 09:47 - Jun 8 with 87044 viewsstainrods_elbow

MC has been on GL for nearly 6 weeks now - and not a whisper from the club, not even to clarify what they propose to do with him (or he with them)! It's pathetic and unacceptable.
The club also, obviously, needs to be planning its pre-season and recruitment. We're supposed to be operating a professional entity, with buy-in from the fans. Pah!

What will/should happen next?

April 29th we placed Marti on gardening leave.
April 29th,

Just announce Stephen and crack on. We all know he’s coming in now.
And if it’s legalities to do with MC then that just shows what an absolute balls up this has been.

Apologies , just having my weekly moment of despair with the people running this circus .

I have strong a feeling that the Super Summer Announcement-Spunkerama is only a mere series of moments away.

Maybe the club wont get compensation if they appoint a replacement first. If that is the case, then yes, it has been a balls up.

I'm not sure how some feel we'll still get any compensation for MC, he was a sellable asset until we put him on gardening leave without a confirmed club, he immediately flipped from financial asset to liability, or at best neutral if they agree to tear up the contract.

Its a mess, and we have a data led player recruitment model that appears to include discussing a new contract with Fox, Anderson & Colback.

A long way to go until the season starts, but Nourry needs to start pulling a few rabbits out of a few hats.

What a way to treat a manager that has done a decent job.

Appalling man management. Really sells the club to prospective future players and managers - NOT !!

Considering most managers would have been sacked after the start we had last season he hasn’t done too bad.

But they would have had to pay him till the end of his contract, so what difference would that have made?

Apart from we MIGHT have appointed & dismissed another manager by the time gardening leave started!

Cifuentes earnt his stripes the season before and likewise showed promise again last season.

Hence how he survived the poor start to the season.

But then we reverted to type. Promising manager at this level, we decided to humiliate and at the same time shoot ourselves in the foot.

Please explain in words of one syllable how on earth is that joined up thinking in anyways.

Suggest you on here just to plays devil's advocate as there are no genuine reasons that you keep a reasonably successful manager for our football club on the naughty step for so long that it not only disadvantages him in the long run but also ourselves.

If I was working for a business that operated in this way, I would be looking for a new workplace with a lot more stability and rationality of decision making.

Excuse me if I say that decisions currently being made are that 2 plus 2 equals 2.01.

Ridiculously poor IMHO.

That last point is what I keep thinking about and I feel it’s underplayed.

Park whether you liked Cifuentes, whether you think Nourry is a charlatan or doing good things…football is a people business. People talk. They talk about how they were made to feel and were treated. It’s very cut throat; players, coaches, managers all look at how CEOs and Chairman have treated their colleagues. Like you and me, they’ll call someone up who used to work there (or still does) and ask what it is like, what so and so is like.

That is what worries me most about Nourry and this approach to Cifuentes is how he and it might be seen by others in football we might want to attract at some point.

He wasn't paid to start the season well he was paid to have a good overall season which most would argue he did.

The fact that we stood by him after that rocky start is the one thing the club did well all year regarding Marti.

It's OK I am sure Nourry's PR company will be spreading the good word across the whole football world.

I remain appalled by the owners committing to Nourry over Marti. I blame them the most. Get involved, for lord's sake. Get to the club during the season on non match days, see what is happening. Do something. Do anything apart from tweeting once every three months when we win. Talk to us. Give us a plan. Do an interview. Hello? Hello?

I see Plymouth are getting taken over by some consortium. It can be done, and whatever our cash flow disasters surely we are just as attractive as them.

I think you have to look to how North Korea handle these things.

It starts off with thanking so-and-so for their service, and how they played a role in saving the motherland from imperial aggressors.

Then, with time, this changes to informing that so-and-so has left their role, and nothing congratulatory is said and the suspicion hangs that they haven't so much as been stepped down, but 'replaced' because they lacked the required devotion to the dear leader.

A brief third phase of announcing with a lot of vitriol, that so-and-so 'was' an enemy of the state/spy and they have been removed are are rarely seen again. If at all.

The fourth and final phase: so-and-so disappears without trace and no mention is made about it or them. The people are left to read between the lines: if we have not seen so-and-so for a while, then they have been eliminated.

I think we know where the comms strategy is currently.
