Mbengue was not good at left back.

Cook has lost some pace and with that some confidence. A couple times he overcommitted early because, I guess, he didn't think he'd be able to recover.

Unlike last week, Field played deep and Madsen further forward.

Even so, Sammy arrived on two good chances...and put them both wide. A theme.

Madsen effete, as so often.

Burrell promising and physical.

Some games Dembele just gets bullied by the big boys. Needs to learn how to con fouls from Smyth the master.

Ref was annoying and a bit of a homer, but of course we've known worse and it didn't affect the result.

We looked pretty good for the 20 minutes we had a balanced 11 (i.e., once Esquerdinha and Varane came on, and before Celar came one).

What a hit from Kieran.

Chair worked really hard. Would love to see his heat map.

We'll be ok if we can get anything like our first 11 playing regularly.

Agree about Mbengue. I imagine Cook is seen as cover these days.

Unfortunately. I thought Morrison might deserve some blame for both goals, although not just his fault. I thought he was good last week.

I'm not sure we can play 2 creatives (Chair + Madsen) together. We need Sam and Varane in there with Chair the main creator.

Kolli added something in the second half, but that might be because Smyth wasn't 100%. I was disappointed in Burrell, but far too early to form an opinion.

The main issue for me was how weak and slow we were especially in the first half. Watford seemed to win every challenge with their greater physicality. Stephan may still be getting used to the physicality of the Championship and how he needs to prepare and select the team.

Playing with Madsen is playing with 10 men.

Just watching him not move into space and not show for the ball time & again is excruciating.

Chair had 84 touches, more than any other QPR player, mainly on the left but was running around everywhere. He often came deep for the ball but that meant Burrell was a bit isolated at times. Nonetheless, Chair put in a big shift today.

The Mbengue at LB and Smyth ahead of him thing was done to counter Baah, who Watford then didn’t start. We were in trouble from that moment on.

Watford had three or four African players who were absolute beasts, proper units.

Dembele looked like he was a kid playing with his uncles

Ah the double bluff.

Kolli and Esquerdinha on the left looked great. Varane was a huge improvement in the centre. Hate the phrase 'game of two halves' but we looked so much better after the break.

I thought all of our subs (bar Celar who was an injury replacement rather than tactical) improved the side.

'What do we want? We don't know! When do we want it? Now!'

We really could do with a beast or two in ours. Too much emphasis on small ball players and luxury players leaves us open to be physically bullied, as was the case again today.

We should focus on trying to sign Hayden, forget about Saito. Pay Hayden a decent wedge not worry about sell on fee. We need steel in that central midfield, signing another midget ain't gonna do it.

Left side of Mbengue and Smyth was horrible. Why didn't Stephan switch it so Dembele and Smyth were on their strong sides and could go down the line? He could've been more aggressive with the subs at HT as well, Morgan's goal shouldn't have masked an awful first 45.

Poll: And it's hi ho

I think we need Varane and Hayden in the squad. And then play 1 of them in that holding midfielder role.

Well, they should arm themselves.

So much for the competitive advantage of releasing your team news at 1:45. That’ll be changed next week.

‘Don’t tell ‘em your formation - ‘4-2-3-1!!’ ‘

‘Name, Rank and Squad number only.’

(In-game changes of personnel and tactics also available in all good footballclubs, and some rubbish ones as well.)

(T’s and Cs apply)

Those possessed by devils, try and keep them under control a bit, can't you ?

Crap 1st half decent 2nd half , decent decent we get a point

I’ll add to this.

First half was shambolic.

Second half was encouraging.

The difference between Varane and Madsen is a concern. The balance of the whole side is a huge concern.

What do you mean by difference? They’re very different players no? Varane has to play that holding role going forward now he’s fit.

Very, very good save after about two minutes. A few others more routine. Kicking better I thought. Some say he was at fault for the second goal but not sure I agree and didn’t feel that way at the time. Let down by those around him.

The commentator on my feed said that it felt like we had 10 men. We were dominated in the middle and Madsen doesn't seem to impact the game in attack or defense. He has had plenty of opportunities to show what he can do. He is quite expressionless and appears lazy. Obviously he must have talent to get to this level but I am yet to see anything that makes me think he will step up I the Championship. Fringe player at best for me.

We have been screaming for strikers for what feels like decades . And rightly so.

We have a couple of decent (not proven though so let’s not get carried away) ones at the club now .
Along with Frey and Celar and Kolli too .

But until we tweak this f*cking club methodology and way of playing , tweak it , not ditch it , and start creating chances for our strikers , in areas that will hurt the opposition, then Kone and Burrell might as well be Hale and Pace …it doesn’t matter , they will all look the same .

Chasing around a lot , some more than others but ultimately not really affecting the game .

It’s no coincidence.
It’s the way we play and it means we don’t create enough .

It really doesn’t matter who is up front at the moment.
Drives me nuts

I mean the straight swap massively changed the game. Forget roles and profiles for a second. We took off a bloke ostensibly playing in the middle of the pitch and replaced him with another bloke who played in the same area of the pitch.

The difference it made was huge. Every Watford fan I spoke to commented on it. Every fan in the away end knew it. Change happened, huge improvement.

Sometimes football is complicated. Sometimes it is not.

Madsen had a nightmare. Bench him. Watch us beat Cov…

Ah, ok. Yes agree 100%. Varane performing is key to us this season.

Some excellent thoughts.

1. Walsh wasn’t at fault for the second goal. Two players were converging on him and he had to hit it as hard as possible. They recycled it…2-0.
2. Madsen was poor and has been poor 70% of his QPR career.
3. Chair - for me - was our top player. Having said that, Chair is also responsible for a huge amount of corners that are predictably bad - and infuriating.
4. The red was a red. Glad our player didn’t sustain a big injury for that.
5. The ref tried to let the game flow, which managed to annoy us - particularly as we were down 2-0 and 2-1.
6. Attacking Celar is pointless. He did nothing because he didn’t have the time to.
7. Is Burrell another Armstrong??
8. Morrison and Mbengue should be the middle two at the back. Sorry, Steve.
9. Did Nourry not think of using his superpowers to try and get a bigger centre-mid?

And we also need a back up for him and another LB at least. Ideally a RB as well.

I will just comment on that first half as that’s where the game was lost ! Left hand side was a fcking shambles for 45mins and my 79 year old mother who knows fcuk all about football would be no worse than madsen in midfield!
How the fcking bjusus Julian let that play out for 45 minutes without reacting or changing something while we all watched that car crash in slow motion is very worrying .
