The main positive for us of him not playing, is that other clubs are less likely to want him also, and of course Saints less fussed about keeping him.
When I looked at one of their forums a while ago, they did think they had better Centrebacks, but also I think they were playing a formation they didn't think suited him - the last bit is more hazy though. |  |

Agreed. However, I find it very weird that if he's not going to make the team or the bench (I am guessing perhaps he has an injury?) that they didn't actually offload him to us? Just feels self defeating and certainly no good for the player. He must have had a hunch he wasn't in favour and perhaps the thing of him angling for the move has put him down the list. You can see why because Southampton are doing so well in 19th at the moment without him. |  |

Last I heard (on these very pages) Saints fans didn’t rate him early season with some screenshots actively coating him off.
Be nice to nab him in January to help towards the play off push

Agree. Handsome Ronnie would be a sound replacement for Cookie who I’m sure won’t be here after this season. Half season loan with commitment to buy could make sense. He would provide good competition at the back and flexibility across the back line.
Only issue I could see in Jan would be injuries elsewhere that demand a replacement for a strong season finish. |  | | |
