Morrison Goal Line Clearance Thread 04:01 - Sep 21 with 4039 views | FredManRave | That was a goal all the way until Morrison stuck his left boot out to stop that goal bound effort, which if he hadn't have done so would probably have resulted in us getting a, previous season, predictable draw. So a massive shout out to the guy for being in the right place in the right time and helping us keep the 3 points. May he continue to make good things happen...

Morrison has been quietly very effective, and only seems to be getting better. If he can stay fit then we have a very very good CB on our hands.

I’m gonna get grief and I’ll happily own it when he’s a £10 million centre back - but for now he’s no better than Grant Hall in my mind. Also think Mbengue is far too chaotic to make a proper centre back at this level. Get JCS and buy Edwards and we’d be a bona fidae playoffs team.

I couldn’t tell you the stats but I reckon Morrison and Mbengue win far more headers than Edwards. Suspect Edwards would look the better if we went up but horses for courses and all that.

I am part of the goalkeeping fraternity but actually Nardi did well as the cross took a big deflection off RND so the trajectory and loop completely changed after he had started committing himself to the cross.Agree about his confidence on crosses but that wasn’t the one. 1st half corner he just about got a punch to it to give a second corner was worse. It’s a,ways highlighted more when you see what’s at the other end, Swansea keeper was the best I saw at box domination last season at our place.

Totally agree about Mbengue. The sh.ts gonna hit the fan sooner or later. Proberly sooner. I think Morrison is a solid third choice atm, but kudos to him that hes filling the position well. I've not seen enough from him to say he's our next big sale. As you said, Edwards back and a fit (haha) JCS would promote this team into the top 6 imo.

Sorry I don’t agree with that at all , Morrison is streets ahead of JCS , he reads the game so well and goes about the place like he isn’t there , a real class act he is the partner Mbengue needs I also think Morrison could cut it in the premier league he is that good also the club should be looking to pay up JCS or look to come to an agreement imo as he is no good to us being injured all the time
| And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot
That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles

Not that it's worth anything, but IMO Morrison is the best defender at Rangers! He certainly isn't over quick, but his positioning makes up for that when forwards try to go past him & he wins a very large percentage of headers. Definitely more than Edwards & JCS do.
Morrison Goal Line Clearance Thread on 20:56 - Sep 21 with 2595 views | Malintabuk | Last week at Wrexham he was superb against Moore... May not have won everything.... but with Moore that is impossible .... What I also liked about last week, in the first few minutes he clatters into Moore, pretty much saying you are in for a tough afternoon... I love that in a cenre backs.. perhaps though not as much as Mbengue does Think Morrison is a very good player. Strong, great positioning, and organiser, fast becoming the legendary "first name on the team sheet" If JCS comes back it will be him and Morrison, not JCS and Mebengue.... imo [Post edited 21 Sep 20:57]

With all due respect, Paul, Morrison is not even close to the same level as a (fit) JCS. I was not a huge fan of Morrison last season, too many basic errors and lapses in concentration for my liking. He has improved significantly this year and is at the age when games and proper defensive coaching (Bould?) can push him on. He would improve still further if he had the more calming influence of Cook beside him rather than the current eccentric incumbent. His goal-line clearance today was top-drawer. How far he can go - we will have a better idea by Christmas.

I saw Morrison running out of his position and thought "he's getting pulled out of position", but then he pulls off that tackle - brilliant. There was one cock up from him in the game I seem to remember, but generally quietly brilliant. Strange game overall really. Great fun to watch, but could easily have been 4-3 or 5-4 if both sides could finish. It is what makes the Championship...

Well I appreciate the value of my opinion Brian and say the same to you. Morrison may just fall into my blind spot and taste in players but he’s just not gnarly and robost enough for me. I’ll concede I could be missing his positioning genius. Maybe he’s so quietly proficient it’s passing me by. But you could say Ryan Nelson was off that type and yet he stood out to me as amongst the best centre backs I’ve ever seen play football live. Two steps ahead of everyone and everything. With Morrison I don’t feel secure. I feel we’re gettable. I feel balls into the box are too weakly repelled. He just doesn’t stand out and lead in a way I want a CB of his profile to do. When Edwards plays there is huge reassuring commanding presence. Cook had it to an extent. Dare is say JCS has it when he plays. As for Mbengue. Lovely guy. Super rapid. Committed. But pretty shambolic and a potential disaster every time he plays. Unlike many I don’t like his attempts to step pit with the ball at all. Loose dribbling centre backs are not for me. I want sharp well weighted progressive passes to feet

His main skill is making clearances. He's well up there on that. That's down to his great positioning. He doesn't make many tackles but certainly can when he needs to. I think he has an instinct for the game which you can't really teach. He does tend to lose concentration and make one or two howlers, like when he just passed to one of the Stoke players on Saturday which led to a shot from them. Iron that out and he'd be a seriously decent if unfussy defender. My other sense and this is just speculative is that if he is playing with someone less experienced at RB or LCB he tries to cover for them which puts him off his own game a bit.

Morrison Goal Line Clearance Thread on 09:00 - Sep 22 with 1502 views | Ned_Kennedys | Amazed at the negativity about Morrison in this thread. Only 22 and a first team regular already, a few mistakes in him but generally very solid. Not blessed with pace but that’s a rare commodity for central defenders at our level. Of course he’s not the finished article yet at his age and behind JCS in terms of development but he’s fit enough to play most weeks. He’s been a great signing and will only improve.
Morrison Goal Line Clearance Thread on 09:18 - Sep 22 with 1462 views | bosh67 | He's also getting a lot more vocal which is no bad thing. At 22 he plays well beyond his years and has a very calm head. With JCS continuing to be out until who knows when we are very lucky to have him calmly running the CB positions.
