Match Thread - Not on my Manor (anymore) - its the Kassam 22:27 - Apr 8 with 67422 viewsdavman

Stands on three sides, no strikers, no hope.

Going to be a hard sludge through the poop tomorrow with a packed away end. Got tickets with the boy, but about 5 rows apart, so may have to stoop to the "we sit where we want" types.

Dreading it.

Feels like a routine 2-0 home win with little more than a whimper from our decimated team with an utterly offensive offence.

Can we go out yet?

Whatever it was, it seemed less than friendly.

Just gutted he lost to Rangers reserves

It's being so happy that keeps me going.

Good team performance tonight, everyone played their part. Hard to pick a MOTM.....Thought Varane in the first half and maybe Colback in the second?

On the way home .

Special moments going mental with my son when the goals went in which makes it all worthwhile

I thought Field , Varane or Edwards was MOTM

More injuries is a worry but surely we're safe now

Marti enjoyed it at the end

Yeah, tough call on MOM. I have Varane, Field, Jimmy, Colback & Ronnie all in the frame. Varane I think.., lovely dilemma mind.

Hated & enjoyed that game in equal measures. I hope the Marti celebrations at the end were not part of the long goodbye, I've not seen him that emotionally charged before.

such a relief you could tell what that meant to Marti, he was going mad at the end

If we'd shown that effort and determination in the last 6 away games we'd be cruising now but at least we turned up tonight and got the job done

Such a weird year. Would have ripped your arm off for the idea that we would be (almost) safe with 5 games to go if you had asked in November. But at the same time feels ridiculous that we weren't safe weeks ago.

I think that might be enough. Looking at the teams below us, they have to play each other and a few have Sheff Utd and Leeds to play.

Stoke have to play both Leeds and Sheffield United so conceding that goal in stoppage time to Luton last night could be costly. I see Coventry got another 94th minute winner.

Anyway glad the team made a mockery of my 3-0 Oxford to win prediction. Never expected us to score three tonight albeit one was an OG. Adding 11 minutes stoppage time never happens when we are a goal down.

So what was rowett saying to Marti at the end?

It was probably a performance for the cameras in an effort to deflect away from the result

I know I don't think they do it on purpose, it feels frustrating but we do seem to drop the basic levels when we think we've cracked it, need to build on tonight and finish the season well

A cherry on cake …Yang’s late goal moved us up a place and above Preston on goal difference 👍

Even tonight there was a 10 min period in the first half where we stopped doing what got us one up and started pissing about with flicks from Madsen and an awful back pass from Varane

Just seen the 3rd goal again and love it that Marti & Xavi were celebrating with the squad

Well, this club never ceases to amaze me .
That team was a dogs dinner. Yet somehow we scored 3!!! I didn’t think we’d get 3 by the end of the season.
Let’s not forget that Oxford were utterly shocking especially in that first half .

But we dug in tonight . Everybody dug in and scrapped and fought . It was like the medical room backstage at the Somme by the end so god knows who will play Saturday , Field will definitely miss Bristol City and Paal thought he needed another away day sit down as soon as they put on a 6 foot right winger . Up to their goal I thought he did ok. Smyth limped off and even Yang limped off at full time .

But i was impressed with Edwards and Morrison . Starting to think that they could steal the player of the season award by the end . Morrison for his record and Edwards simply because he has been class. Both were great .
Colback and Varane battled and hustled and broke up so much .
Felt for Bennie. Just no match for enormous centre backs but was a nuisance and I think he already has a good football brain. Yang looked like Warwick Davis up there in comparison but it’s a smart finish which caused amazing celebrations. To see Marti and Xavi running down to the corner flag to celebrate with their players was quite special I thought .
Word is he will walk away in the summer before they can push him. If that’s the case then I hope he goes somewhere and smashes it. He’s made quite a few mistakes recently and he ain’t nothing like a perfect coach , but to get us to safety (fingers crossed ) from where we were in November , with that squad is a pretty remarkable achievement.
The injuries have been nothing short of shocking and they continue to fall around him, but Marti was given ..an utterly lopsided, slow, weak, unphysical squad . He sent a message tonight .
But for once it was a great to see us ‘doing a job’ on someone else.

Just to end . A little word for Madsen.
He did nothing special . Still drove me mad a couple of times . But he engaged, got stuck in. Played a few nice touches and passes and most importantly contributed to a victory I thought we deserved.
The bar is so low it’s beyond belief .
But good for him. I still think there is a player in there somewhere .

Bigger worries to come but I feel chuffed to get that win tonight

Back four were superb!!!!
We are gonna miss Dunne next year

He had one or more goal saving blocks and like always gave everything he had for the jersey.
Fair play to Nardi as well a few critical saves at 2-1 which saved our bacon tonight.
What in God's name did he get booked for that was a bit strange but it does not matter now.
Some serious tired players (and the injured of course) after that battle but congrats to all a golden 3 points

An interesting little stat from Jack Supple. Perhaps that much vaunted pathway we've been supposedly building for the youngsters is really there.

#QPR have scored 8 goals via teenagers this season (all competitions), which is as many as they’d scored between the 2009-10 and 2023-24 seasons combined (8).

Funny old game for sure. Before it started I was convinced that there was no way we were going to be able to get a win with no strikers and the players we had available. And then they produce a performance like that, taking the game to Oxford from the start and somehow finding a way to be two nil up at half time. And then going on to secure the win that I am pretty sure will mean that we will still be playing in the second tier next season.
So all credit to Marti and the players for digging out the kind of committed and gutsy performance to get us over the line against a team which may not look impressive but have been in outstanding form since Rowett took over. What an unpredictable and surprising team we are.
