Eze 09:08 - Apr 16 with 154181 viewssdm1508

I was just wondering what people's thoughts are on him since he moved to palace. Do you think he has improved as a player and if so what areas of his game have got better since he was with us or having better players around him helped? I mean having better players around him allows for more things to actually come off for him. He might have tried something with us and the players couldn't react etc

I was watching him in a game the other night and it just seems to be his consistency. His base level now seems to be a notch or two up. He doesn't have to do something amazing to effect the game

Using it for the PA or the ground on general, would be a waste of the FFP allowance.
15 million or whatever our cut might be, if the sale goes through, spent wisely, should substantially improve our first team squad and our prospects of a push for a season of really big money, which would help to dig us out of '16th' place malaise that we are currently stuck it.

If it is 15% of the profit, as far more likely, and Palace seem to be weakening on the price, our cut more likely to be around 5m - and that in instalments. Nice to have but not a game changer.

Well unless Hoos has been leading Clive on, it's 20% of the sale price. So £60 million brings in £12m, £68m would bring in £13.6m.
The lower figure increases our FFP allowable by £4m a year for three years.
It's a bit more than nice to have!

Maybe a move is close... would explain why Palace are briefing that the sell-on is relatively low, to keep their support onside. No-one is likely to find out for years by which time most people will have forgotten.

This maybe the reason no one has bought him yet.

Says the £60 million release clause is not relevant as from midnight today ie end of Friday 1st August.

Says all personal terms agreed with Arsenal but they likely to pay £55 million maximum.

If this is true, would suggest if Ebere, himself, wants to go somewhere else, he could. He has two years left on his contract apparently.

Was it ever spelt out in that degree of detail, or was it more vague eg “we get 20% from a sale”? A percentage of the uplift would make more logical sense, and would be surprised if Palace would have agreed to 20%! of the whole, but obvs I hope you are right.

I remember the general understanding/chatter at the time was that WBA (I think) had offered more money upfront but that as Eze had his heart set on joining Palace as a South Londoner we accepted their lower bid in return for the sell on being increased to 20%.

It has definitely been reconfirmed as 20% in the years since he left these shores. It feels like this is the summer or never for us getting a huge amount of money for him - and that only strengthens our hand with future transfers on such as Varane, Poku, Dembele and the various CBs if all goes to plan with their development.

IIRC it was Newcastle. They offered 20m but Palace only offered 16m. As Eze wanted to go to Palace the 20% sell-on was agreed to mitigate the lower fee.

Arsenal penny pinching... they have to know the later this goes into the window, the less inclined Palace will be to sell and the more expensive the fee will get. You just spent 50m on Madueke ffs

I’m astounded he hasn’t gone. Established international, cup winning goal . Good haul of goals and assists, great attitude and a born entertainer. Baffling that others go for more money .

I would argue he's not too different to Luis Diaz that just went to Bayern in terms of output. He went for similar money to what Palace want but he's 18 months older than Eze.

I think Bayern paid £90m for Kane, who was at least 30-odd years of age and slowing appreciably.

Admittedly, they didn't want to pay that much, but Levy just kept squeezing their testicles until they had no choice. So £68.5m for a 'kin Rolls Royce of a player isn't so much a bargain but highway robbery carried out in broad daylight!

FFS, would someone just sign the overpriced, hopeless at defending, ageing ex-QPR prick so we can all get on with our lives!!!!
