Edwards that timing fits, though could have picked him up from Barnet when Peterborough did.

Rudoni it doesn't. We were spending more money on worse players at the point he went from Wimbledon to Huddersfield.

And when they did get some money to spend last summer, they spent it on Madsen and Celar.

If Eze is sold and we receive, say, £15m, are we obliged to spend it within the same year in which it is received? Otherwise the sale will roll out of the three year period before anything spent in the following years. Kind of forces us into a shopping spree when the purse is being held by the people that brought us Madsen and Celar.

There's a bit of me that would be happy if Eze isn't sold this summer or until we have a grown up at the helm.

If we get say £20mill I'd imagine only £5mill of that would go to player purchases with the rest being nabbed for other things.
I personally wouldn't trust anyone in the current seats of power to spend even £50k wisely on players.

The same people that signed Varane, Nardi and Morrison and loaned in Saito and Edwards.

Net spend there might be, what £3mill, in fees?

Compare the spend on Celar and Madsen and the hidden cost of how they are allowing the fitness and medical side to be "run".

It's a no from me but best of luck in the future............

Sure, but I was talking about spending and (i think) the bulk of the spending was on Madsen and Celar.
Anyway, maybe I worded my post badly because my main point was supposed to be a question of whether the FFP rules force us to spend the money as soon as we receive it.
If they do, (and Eze does move), I guess we’ll have a full on tilt at promotion.
We may differ on whether recent dealings make us confident about the likely outcome of this.

Those signings were good but whenever we have money to spend this recruitment team tend to get it wrong. We spent big on Celar and Madsen, not convinced by either of those. When we had money before it was usually wasted

The long standing critique that we missed out on local players who have gone on to successful professional careers is perfectly valid.
However, it's worth noting that the DS recruited Wilkie and O'brien this season. If either OR both work out, will we be praising the recruitment process that got them?
And if neither work out, it will be QPR getting it wrong, again?

Weirdly, the deals that seem to be done on tighter budgets seem to be sharper than when the money is bigger, at which point we act like someone at an all you eat buffet who loads up their first plate with too much bread.

So we're in the paradoxical space where if a player is brought in for free I have higher expectations than if we dropped £3m on one

I am not ware of and can't see any logical reason that commits us to spending income in one season. Any sell on fee received would be added to our FFP income column, which is good for the three year cycle.

Cross Will Still off our wish list, joining Saints as their new boss

So Danny Rohl up for Norwich or WBA?

Would he fit in with us though, you need 11 super fit lads to play his style of play and Callum Patterson

captains fantastic

He'll be going back to Germany, has a massive buy out clause

Could simply resign.

Depends on notice period and restriction clause they have with him I suppose.

Am I alone in having never heard of Will Still?
If you told me he is an up and coming act on the stand up circuit I'd believe you.

Rohl's stock is certainly way higher than us.

Nourry seems to have really dropped a bollock here doesn't he?
If I was Reuben I'd be asking why I'm effectively having to pay good money out each month to a few people who we have no intention of using in any way, shape or form.

Tough to appoint anyone until that feck up is resolved.

In a really weak position!!!!

I may not be right but it seems to me that if the revenue moves out of the rolling three year period while the years of spending it remains in the three period, because it was spent in the years after it was received, we’d be stuffed, unless we’d gained promotion.

Trying to recall a recruitment team that got it right! I think the club historically has always recruited better when on a budget.

The Madsen and Celar signings relatively speaking were small outlays that were unlikely to have immediate impact. Just a shame those small outlays were the majority the budget.

Not going to join in with the bedwetters here with regards to Nourry, the jury is still out for me.

We signed a lot of very good (and quite a few not so good) players between 1987 and summer of 1990! Club was a mess, but mixture of Jim Smith, Don Howe and very briefly but effectively Bobby Gould could spot a player.

Agree! I think that continued into the early 90's, probably until we got the Ferdinand money which was then spent poorly.

But my god! That was a while ago now :)

The recruitment from 2001-2005 had an amazing hit rate.

Some big, notable, often quite laughable misses, but also Day, Shittu, Palmer, Ben Askar, Gallen, Furlong, Bircham, Rowlands, Gino, McLeod, Cook, Thomas, Thorpe, Ainsworth, Camp... And we were in admin for a chunk of that period as well. Extraordinary really.

Some good players there for sure.

But the first three seasons of that period were spent in the third tier. The two seasons after promotion we finished 11th and 21st. And I'm sure you can figure out what the average of 11 and 21 is.

Poll: QPR to finish 7th or Brentford to drop out of the top 6?

I think we had the advantage of being able to take players from clubs in the same division back then given we were seen as a bigger comparably. I bet even with the admin we were still paying more than many, (probably a large reason for the admin)

I'm almost sure that the income will be in the period when the add on reached qualification, as it wouldn't have appeared in the club accounts.

Hence, only the basic transfer fees are accounted for as there may be no additional figure.

(Sorry down voted you, accidentally)

What I meant was that if the revenue from Eze’s sale came in 2025 but we didn’t spend it until 2026, then in 2028 the three year rolling FFP period (covering 2028, 2027 and 2026) would include the expenditure but not the revenue. Potentially, leaving us with a hole to fill.
So, would the club feel pressure to spend it all in 2025? (A worrying scenario, given the current managerial situation)

Happy to be educated and definitely not an expert in football finances.
