Rest of the Championship thread 25/26 on 21:10 - Sep 14 by Northernr | Could actually be good news for us. I think he already wants to come here from what I've heard, and if they're going to fck him about for the next six months that will a) increase that desire and b) lower his value. |
My thoughts too. | |

We're in a reasonable position in that our current two centre backs are doing pretty well. Akindelini is a bright prospect for the future. Cook can chip in if needed and JCS we know is class if he can stay fit. Also Field can do a job at LCB especially if he's not getting as many minutes at CM. We don't have to go begging to Edwards but I think he'll see us as a great place to come and kick on in his career. And he'll know that he'll be loved by the fans.

Is the “if JCS can stay fit” one in the glossary? If not then it should be.

I was thinking the same. He could be the defensive ball-progressor we're looking for.. Can he also play at RB? If so, that's 3 positions he play in.

I would love to see Ronnie here as an attacking midfielder, in my opinion he can do that job.

Getting Gorgeous in during the next window would make perfect sense. Cook departs next June and I'd be surprised if we continued with JCS, as good as he is when the poor lad can play. As mentioned above, if Varane atrracts interest, Edwards can slot in there.

He divides opinion, but should never have been sacked in the first place. Especially being replaced by a coach whose "achievement" last season was to retain Hull's league status by virtue of a negative goal difference being better than Luton's. [Post edited 15 Sep 13:06]

He’s a very promising player as a centre back and could conceivably adapt to defensive midfield but I can’t see him as an attacking midfielder (and can’t see a need for him to play there when he’s got into the England U21 squad as a defender)

This massive man crush Wilder is supposed to have on Dunne is a misapprehension. They wanted Dunne because they thought they could get him on the cheap as a promotion run-in back up. When they were rebuffed the interest cooled. Why would they pay a lot more now?

It would depend if a recall clause was part of the deal but any recall could only be done during a transfer window so he's here until January at the very least.

Loans in the EFL can only be ended in January if that’s in the contract or at the end of the season so he can’t go anywhere yet.

I'd be surprised given he got booed by some of their fans recently. Doubt if he's keen to return .

Wilder unlucky to be sacked. An excellent season that just fell away at the end. That's a very negative view of Seles. His record at Reading and Hull, both basket cases, was pretty decent and he deserved a shot at a bigger club. Just speculating but maybe something wrong with the players attitude and five games is ridiculously short. We gave Gareth a fair bit longer to try and sort our mess out. Sheffield board guilty of fans level of expectancy.

Feels like there is always a Mick Beale type undermining you from behind and enough fickle owners to fall for it. Not helped that it's probably more profitable to be sacked than stay at a club long term.
Rest of the Championship thread 25/26 on 13:00 - Sep 17 with 3577 views | DavieQPR | Wilder's power there is going to increase so much that he will be running the place on his own. Will he be able to hold his arrogance in check? As for Edwards I seem to remember he was pretty poor as a DM in his first game for us and that is the only time he has ever played there.

He was poor at right back against Millwall early on. The only time he played DM for us was Leeds H and he was pretty decent I thought.

Er yeah not his usual position obviously but he slotted in very well in that Leeds game - arguably was MOTM for us!

I know this Nypan lad is a Manchester City player, but he has no business being in the Championship at the moment. Neither does Hayden Hackney while I'm on it, couple of Premier League level midfielders. Oh to find one of them in our U21s [Post edited 19 Sep 21:26]

Agreed, IMO the game was definitely won in the midfield, Boro look pretty strong without breaking too much of a sweat. Interesting to see how far forward their back four play - joining the midfield, picking up the scraps at every opportunity and feeding the playmakers. I felt that both sides lacked out and out goalscorers, which makes our front two look even more amazing acquisitions.
