He’s a bit of a bell but 92 points and dominating a play off final until the 70 minute is probably a better bet than losing your first five games of the season under a new boss.

Charlton as per last week, very combative. Kelman starting but just not getting the service and it's starting to look an odd signing for them.

All 3 early games finished level.

You can guarantee they will have changed their manager and will be moving up the table by the time we meet. Still we soon have Wednesday who have been poor too but will we play like the last two games or gift them their first win of the season rediscovering our charitable status?

Let's start with (apparently), stupid owners. Still a long way to go though.

National League to The Championship means nothing after 3 or 4 defeats. Then again I thought they looked less than the sum of their parts today. Plenty of good Championship players out there

I think Leicester are fortunate to be 4th in the league. They were lucky to beat Charlton and couldn’t beat Oxford! Maybe it’s the manager ;) | | | | Login to get fewer ads

They were down to ten men half way through the first half.

Yeah, very strange league. Lots of interesting sub plots. Lampard doing well at Cov, but Robins is doing even better at Stoke! Doubt many had them second after 5 games. Fascinated to see what they are like next weekend. Hoping it’s somewhat of a fluke and they’re due a defeat. Liam Manning also left City for bigger and better things and finds City above him in the table in 3rd. Sheffield as a city is having a nightmare. Was Selles the whole problem there? Neither Ipswich nor Leicester look wholly convincing. Southampton too. Boro outperforming expectations. Preston massively so. Not plain sailing at all for Brum and Wrexham. And a whole host of sides who look a bit odd. At first glance you’d say the league looks very even.

Hopefully a bit tasty and on ITV which is a nice novelty. Dozzell starting (and Manning, meh). Should really be a comfortable home win but hopefully Pompey rough them up a bit and have a go.

Like going back to the 80’s, coaches running from Fratton (and Winchester park and ride) the only way to get there as a Pompey fan! Ronnie only on the bench, real shame we couldn’t finalise the deal as they obviously don’t rate him (management and fans!). [Post edited 14 Sep 12:37]

Never heard either of those nicknames but for our purposes here, there can only ever be one team referred to as the Scummers and they’re not from the south coast.

Scummers (Saints) as apparently their dock workers broke a strike and went to work at Pompey docks (not true) and Skates due to the navy link and the skate (fish) apparently resembling lady parts that the sailors apparently had a fancy for (again not true!).

I was told that it originates from Southampton Company Union Man. They allegedly broke the dock strike Portsmouth and the name stuck but that’s also been labelled an urban myth by others. The skate nickname is somewhat dodgier and relates to a sailor's sexual preferences with fish. Probably sits in the same category but many a local has been referred to as Skate Bait. Just seen your reply before mine Hantsi - I guess both are ‘Island’ legends that will remain in place regardless :-) [Post edited 14 Sep 14:42]

He's 22. Needs to be at a club where he's playing regularly or he runs the risk of his career fizzling out before it's fully started. I reckon he'll be aware of this and will be keen to move on whether that's with us or with someone else who will appreciate him.

No problems. Glad it was a draw, I work in Eastleigh and we’ve both sets of fans here so next all round as it can still be a bit tasty!

Could actually be good news for us. I think he already wants to come here from what I've heard, and if they're going to fck him about for the next six months that will a) increase that desire and b) lower his value.
