Manager situation 09:47 - Jun 8 with 51293 viewsstainrods_elbow

MC has been on GL for nearly 6 weeks now - and not a whisper from the club, not even to clarify what they propose to do with him (or he with them)! It's pathetic and unacceptable.
The club also, obviously, needs to be planning its pre-season and recruitment. We're supposed to be operating a professional entity, with buy-in from the fans. Pah!

What will/should happen next?

I think a few of you on here have clearly been on the internet too much. Go watch Alex Jones YouTube channel if you are into conspiracy theories. That way you don’t need to create your own modern version of the witch trials, which you have set up to protect you from engaging in debate with opposing views. I’ve made 4 posts on this site and had9 posts in response with insults vs 0 challenges on any of the points raised (suspect because they were good points that challenged views held)

I genuinely have come on here and posted my own sincerely held opinions. I’ve had a season ticket since before Nourry was born. Third generation fan. I don’t go to as many away games as I used to because I’ve got young kids now. Will soon be forcing them into being the fourth generation. So in that context don’t you think it’s pretty sad that you and your posse of online trolls jump on and attack opposing opinions but don’t engage in debate. If a point was raised that you don’t like or disagree with then fine explain that or just ignore it. But to post insults and conspiracy theories… have a word with yourself

I sit in the same stand as you and I occasionally drink in the Crown. So next season I will introduce myself at some point and refer to this. That isn’t in any way at all intended as a veiled threat. I’m too old for that. More just that if you look at the responses on here in the context of me just being a fan sharing my opinion it’s not right

If you think it’s an absolute disaster that next season our first choice pair of centre backs is Clarke- Salter/ Morrison vs finishing this season with Edward’s/ Morrison and that the club absolutely must go out and find a replacement of the same standard as Edward’s (on what budget I’m not sure) then fine that’s your opinion. Or if you think adding a player who scored 27 goals last year playing for an unfancied Orient team is of no significance and instead want to focus on us potentially losing a winger who scored 3 goals then fine. Debate the point or ignore the post but just chucking out insults and conspiracy theories isn’t right

If you think it’s an absolute disaster that next season our first choice pair of centre backs is Clarke- Salter/ Morrison vs finishing this season with Edward’s/ Morrison....

I think it's very brave to try and rely on JCS given his career wide attendance record.

and that the club absolutely must go out and find a replacement of the same standard as Edward’s (on what budget I’m not sure) then fine that’s your opinion.

That's not my opinion, I've never said that, I've probably written the word "budget" and talked about how unrealistic a lot of people's expectations are because of it on here more than anybody else. I labour under no misapprehension at all that we could afford a player like Edwards.

Or if you think adding a player who scored 27 goals last year playing for an unfancied Orient team is of no significance and instead want to focus on us potentially losing a winger who scored 3 goals then fine.

Here's the Charlie Kelman write up. Does that sound like a person who thinks his return has no significance to you? https://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/queensparkrangers/news/64325/end-of-term-

Debate the point or ignore the post but just chucking out stuff I haven't said, haven't ever said, and don't believe isn't right either.

I do think you’re becoming a bit neurotic over this type of thing. Not everyone has the same hatred for Nourry as you. More and more people (and some new on here) are giving opinions on the manager situation because it’s the most important thing going on at the moment and one that needs sorting asap.

Difference being there aren't brand new accounts popping up almost every single week with the main or sole intention of criticising the club and / or Nourry for the clear wrongdoings. They are only popping up in the defence.

I see it as no coincidence that social media is being used to defend a guy that has written publicly about the importance of using social media to influence 'Gen Z'.

Call it neurotic or conspiracy theories if you like. They're opinions and you guys are entitled to them. My opinion is anyone that dismisses that out of hand is incredibly naive. Just a difference of opinion that's all and that's ok.

Crap, is what it is. Total crap, all of it. There are people who say it isn't crap, but they're wrong. It was crap before and it's crap now and it will continue to be crap. When things are going badly it's because they're crap and when things are going well they're still crap under the surface. There is no chance of them not being crap, none at all. Crap is just what we have to put up with. There was a time when it looked like it might not be crap, but that time is gone now, and to tell you the truth it was still crap even then. Other clubs were crap and did something about it and stopped being crap, but if you tried that at QPR you'd just be descending even further into the crap. There is no escaping the crap. It is equally crap in whichever direction you look. The parts of it individually are crap and the whole is more crap than the sum of the parts. It's probably even more crap than we realise. When people are going on the instatubes and telling you it's crap, you should believe them. Our mascot ought to be a talking pile of crap, that's how crap it is. Don't take the end of this comment as a sign that it's stopped being crap, because it hasn't, I've just run out of words to tell you how crap it is.

25 craps in 243 words.

That's a lot of crap.

There's a cure for that (not sure it will work on QPR!)

Alex Jones and conspiracy theories!

Mate as a long term fan you will know that the very thing you are mis-labelling as conspiracy theory happened before in the Paladini era. Lots of people had personal experience of it, including Clive himself.

It is also crystal clear that it is happening again now. Unfortunately your arrival and style of post put you in the crosshairs. I hope you have the intelligence, humility and good humour to understand why. To respond by then throwing out the 'conspiracy theory' attack is a bad look. There's a good reason why a lot of people are a bit wary and to just blindly accuse them of being Alex Jones affected conspiracy theorists is unpleasant gaslighting.

The two points you mention for 'debate' are, as Clive has pointed out, a bit odd. Pretty much all of us would be thrilled with a season of JCS and Morrison and similarly I think everyone is excited to see how Kelman gets on.

I say all this as someone who is already looking towards the new season, accepting that Marti has gone( and not particularly happy that he was looking to go after just 6 months) and accepting that Nourry has done some good (recruitment bar the big buys last summer) and some bad (communication methods, mates rates for Ben Williams, handling of Marti situation) things so far. It's too early to judge whether he will be a success or not and if we get the new manager right and can have another Summer getting in the likes of Nardi, Morrison, Varane and Dembele then I'd say things would be looking up. Big If.

There are clearly a few posters that have got a little locked in to personal battles, but that can happen in these situations. We all want what's best for the R's. Let's (all real fans) stick together.

I’m definitely in minority in my views on Nourry, so I can’t be accused of being biased in any way. But thought I’d look at your last paragraph.

Going in with JCS as 1st choice centre half is a huge risk. If you add in Cook too, I have serious concerns about centre backs next season. We need 1 more for sure.

Full backs - we need left back and right back. And maybe cover for both.

Midfield - we need at least 1 athletic ball playing midfielder and x2 if we lose Varane (not saying Varane is ball playing, but we need similar one to him)

We need to have 1 more physical and pacy winger.

Strikers - yes, agree on Kelman. But we still need 1 more striker. Or is Kelman, Frey, Celar and Kohli enough? I think it’s a huge risk.

We need a manager before pre season starts.

So whilst I’m not anti Nourry, I also think a lot needs to be done asap so that we can have a proper pre season as a squad with its new manager. Yes, there is still time but it’s running out.

I don’t get need for as many news updates as some but having some
Sort of update on manager would be useful.

Anybody?

Last season was (your opinion on your club's campaign) - A mixed bag!
The big talking point is - Who the manger will be
This season will be different because - We'll all be another year older
I won’t be happy unless - We have a Head of Performance who is based in London
Our key player will be (and why) - Chair because he creates most of our chances. Hopefully he'll be less injured this season.
underrated player is - Sam Field
Look out for (young player who could break through) - Emerson Sutton or Charlie Kelman
The opposition player I'd love here is - Ronnie Edwards (Miss him already)
The opposition player who grinds my gears is (and why) - Ben Pearson
The active player I'd love to have back is (former player of your club) - Eze
The pantomime villain will be (could be someone at your club, or another club) - Chansiri
Fans think our owner is - Well intentioned but lacks a clear strategy.
The thing my club really gets right is - Community work
The one change I'd make would be (something off the pitch at your club, ideally) - Clearer Communication and player recruitment that thinks about what makes a good team rather than just signing talented individuals based on good data.
A social media account to follow is (something related to your club, most likely not the official club account, maybe a fan or something fan related, apart from your own account)
The ground I'm most looking forward to visiting is - Charlton
I'm least looking forward to playing (which club) - Sheff Utd and watching Jimmy Dunne play against us.
The fans' opinion of the gaffer is (how popular is he with fans? Is he under pressure? What are his strengths/weaknesses?) - Must be getting great at gardening by now.
If he left, he should be replaced by - Someone with a lot of patience
We'll finish (which position in the table this season) - 18th

Fair enough. It’s just a shame it’s getting like this. And yes, that is partly down to Nourry and partly due to the current manager situation. But Isn’t it better just to argue the point rather than accuse of being ā€œNourry botā€?

Last season was (your opinion on your club's campaign)
A mixed bag, lots of optimism but we started slowly and by November looked a mess and were heading for relegation.
Cifuentes went more pragmatic in how we played and results quickly improved to get us t the brink of the playoffs in February then we fell apart again and needed wins at Oxford and Preston to avoid getting dragged into the relegation battle
Overall we stayed up and gave some promising youngsters a years experience in the league but it felt like another missed opportunity

The big talking point is
The manager being put on gardening leave with no real explanation as to why.
The fans are left in the dark about what happened so fanbase is full of anger, rumours and despair which is not a good starting place for whatever the next manager is

This season will be different because
On the positive side you'd hope the likes of Varane, Morgan, Kolli, Morrison and Demeble will continue to improve and we have a couple of promising kids in the development squad, in reality it probably won't be hugely different to the last 3/4 years in that we'll flirt with the bottom 6 and top 6 at different staged and end up around 18th

I won’t be happy unless
Adel Taarabt returns and nutmegs someone

Our key player will be (and why)
Jonathan Varane, he got better as the season wore on and feels like if he builds on that we'll do OK

Our most underrated player is
Paul Smyth

Look out for (young player who could break through)
The Brazilian left back whose name I can't spell

The opposition player I'd love here is
Jason Knight

The opposition player who grinds my gears is (and why)
Ben Pearson

The active player I'd love to have back is (former player of your club)
Ronnie Edwards

The pantomime villain will be (could be someone at your club, or another club)
Ben Williams or Nourry

Fans think our owner is
A nice guy but a bit clueless

The thing my club really gets right is

Last season was (your opinion on your club's campaign) - Better than expected given injuries to Chair and JCS
The big talking point is - sort out injury situation
This season will be different because - last seasons new players have 1 season under their belt in tough league
I won’t be happy unless - We take both cup competitions seriously.
Our key player will be (and why) - Varane. Good age, physical and technically strong, 1 more season and pre season under belt
underrated player is - Varane
Look out for (young player who could break through) - esquerdinha
The opposition player I'd love here is - Lewis O’Brien
The opposition player who grinds my gears is (and why) - Jack Robinson. I know there is no loyalty in football for player and club……but I felt we supported him and then he screwed us.
The active player I'd love to have back is (former player of your club) - Adel
The pantomime villain will be (could be someone at your club, or another club) - Nourry
Fans think our owner is - benevolent but disinterested
The thing my club really gets right is - Investment in signing youth players now
The one change I'd make would be (something off the pitch at your club, ideally) - more access to the manager. Otherwise it breeds what we are seeing on this thread and many others.
A social media account to follow is (something related to your club, most likely not the official club account, maybe a fan or something fan related, apart from your own account) - so going for podcasts rather than websites / forums. love the w12 podcast and Hoopsa

I would agree with most of that.

Only quibble might be over the young player.

Sutton is probably too young and Kelman at 23 maybe a bit long in the tooth for that label.

Rayan Kolli will be looking for a breakout year with the World Cup on the horizon - assuming we don't sell him to the Saudis.

Last season was schizophrenic
The big talking point is how the club is not talking at all
This season will be different because it's opposite day and 'different' means 'the same'
I won’t be happy unless we sort out the mess our club is in, yet again.

Our most underrated player is Field

The thing my club really gets right is Community outreach

You can't keep ignoring it.

I've got it.

We should have MC as 'Head Coach Consultant', then when it all goes to shyte, as we dont appoint a new coach, he can step straight back in.

But, the club won't tell us MC is a consultant, just leave him on gardening leave.......until the big reveal!

Last season was interesting. Seeing our club growing into its galactico skin is almost better than sex. People think we’re in chaos but it’s all a subtle diversion (perversion?) that keeps the underlying drive to perfection just ever slightly hidden.

The big talking point is how great everything is right now.

This season will be different because we have a new manager coming in. He’s great and is going to love the training ground. He’ll have a close relationship with our DoF but he’ll get over it. All fine.
I won’t be happy unless

Our key player will be in our youth development system. We’re keeping it a little quiet at the moment but it’s going to be a revelation. Come back at the end of the season and tell me it wasn’t so.

Our most underrated player is in our youth development system. We’re keeping it a little quiet at the moment but it’s going to be a revelation. Come back at the end of the season and tell me it wasn’t so.

Look out for our secret weapon in the development squad. It’s still developing, so I can’t let too much out about her. Going to be a media frenzy though.

The opposition player I'd love here is George Best. Really sociable guy. Incredible talent and will always guarantee you goals and entertainment.

The opposition player who grinds my gears is a Chelsea player. All of them.

The active player I'd love to have back has to be Jimmy Dunne. Dedicated player, gives his all and loved the club. Eze is the easy choice but he deserves better to be fair … like Real Madrid for a Ā£100m. Nice!

The pantomime villain will be Ronnie Edwards - Prince Charming. Too good looking. His beauty intimidates almost all of our team, development squads, coaches, executive staff, admin staff and fans. He lives within his own aura. You have to love and hate him equally.

Fans think our owners are fabulous at keeping the club alive for the amazing fans. Their continued injection of funds and ability to spot amazing young talent in players, coaches and executives is hard to compare with many other clubs in the championship. It is this faith that has all us fans looking forward to next season - as the record season ticket take-up shows.

The thing my club really gets right is its continued steps in developing its youth and bringing them through to the first team, with the total support of the coaches. A completely forward-thinking DoF has transformed this side of the club hence our DS success and the push of our youngsters through to the first team squad where they are injecting a newfound expression of the clubs attacking style that completely confounds other managers, coaches and teams.

The one change I'd make would be to make Christian Nourry our Head of Team Performance and Fitness. Our injuries last season were horrific and his knowledge, enthusiasm and experience would definitely change things around.

A social media account to follow would probably be the incredible social media, communication and marketing accounts that the club creates to promote our incredible successes, on and off the pitch. A real learning curve for all fans and businesses alike. Places I always go when I’m in need of some inspiration and insight.

The ground I'm most looking forward to visiting has to be Wrexhams Racecourse; the opportunity to rub shoulders with Hollywoods elite and be on Sky Sports at 12:00 on a Saturday couldn’t be more appealing after a stupidly early journey and seeing all these stars. I might even watch the match to be honest.

I'm least looking forward to playing has to be Massive Leeds. Sorry, what! They’re in the PL? Blimey, didn’t notice that - of course they should be there then, they are massive after all. Will have to be Cardiff then. What now! They’ve been relegated! Geez, this is tough (especially for lil ā€˜ol Chrissy). Norwich then. Good? OK Norwich it is.

The fans' opinion of the gaffer is amazing, whoever he is. As long as he’s dedicated and let’s us know he’s full of loyalty and integrity, isn’t always looking for the next job and isn’t losing too many games on the run then we’re always happy to give him his own song.

If he left, he should be replaced by the best possible candidate. Alternatively, we’re happy to wait for the stragglers - they will do fine with this bunch of lads. Run ā€˜em around to get fit, chuck them out in your lottery formation and it’s generally points in the bag to be honest. It’s a great watch.

We'll finish. Yeh we’ll definitely finish. Oh, a position. Good question. We always expect a top six finish. Who wouldn’t. Has to be nailed on doesn’t it?

Cheers, thanks for the chat. Anytime you need some advice just drop me a line at Loft for Words. All smiles and happy faces there. We can also let you know the best movies, top shows and top football tips for running a club too. And the toilets always smell of roses. We love it.

The thing young Christian is going to learn to his cost very soon is that whilst social media can be used to influence people in the political world and the rights/wrongs/results etc are always subjective and open to intepretation, there is no hiding in football when ultimately all that matters is the result on a Saturday afternoon and when the form table reads "LLLLLLL" there is no hiding place and Gen Z, or any other Gen for that matter, will be on your back very, very quickly, regardless of how much social media buttering you try.

Lot of debate here with interesting opinions on both sides. For what it's worth:

* I am concerned about our current situation regarding the squad and manager. For the number of players we need, we might struggle getting people to join if they don't know who they'll be working with.
* It is not a good look for us at the moment: I would have hoped a management appointment would have been announced before now but, in reality, this doesn't surprise me. It felt, at the time, like this was a decision made in haste. Not basing that on anything, just the turn around from 'Marti's our man' to 'See you never'. Surely, if this was the plan, we'd have seen someone in post by now. For example, the club had already identified Marti by the time Critchley got the boot.
* None of this seems to have affected the way the Dev Squad is seen outside the club where recent signings have universally identified the 'pathway' as a factor that positively influenced their decision. The club is getting good write ups here and it points to a longer-term strategy that has been absent for several years.
* I am concerned that there is still a lot to do to get people through the door, either as fans or staff. Pre-season is imminent and no-one seems any the wiser. I cannot believe anyone at the club would deliberately allow this situation to impact the start of the next season. It's self-defeating - it simply doesn't work commercially or on the field of play.
* If this is a representative sample, the QPR fanbase is currently divided: whoever walks into this will need to address it quickly because, if things don't go right instantly, half the fanbase is already angry and it feels like it wouldn't take much for the rest to jump in. Critchley got, what, 12 games into a 3 year contract? Another appointment like that would be horrendous.

I have no answers. I don't know any more than anyone else. I've read the same things you have. I am just worried that we, seemingly, haven't moved on from Marti being asked to stay home.

Like many others in this thread, it’s a very good post .
On both sides of the debate for the most part .

What’s happening with the DS squad is a huge positive and is very welcome to everybody .
As said, it was long overdue and is the shining light right now .
But that light will dim significantly if we are a league 1 club next summer.

We have to have players ready to announce , even if it’s players signing new contracts who had let them run down. As if those players don’t know by now if they will be here or not next season ?
If not then we must be close to signing 1 or 2? That’s just basics .
We can’t all applaud the club and rightly so for bringing Edwards in on Jan 1st and then turn a blind eye when we are 6 or 7 weeks down the line and nothing but tumbleweed . The players are back in 3 weeks !!!!!

It would be a dereliction of duty to just be sitting on your hands at this point and even I don’t think that . We just can’t be .

However , the initial reason for the radio silence 18 months or so ago was ā€˜to gain an advantage’.
We now know that’s false . Advantage over who that Morgan Fox has left or signed a year extension?
There are pre season friendlies arranged ..at LR . So why the ongoing silence ?
It must be to make some huge announcement where there is some sort of announcement jamboree ..no?
Im genuinely asking myself if there contempt for the fans now? I don’t think that .
But I’m starting to wonder .
We don’t need to know and shouldn’t know all about the inner workings of our or any football club.
But this is madness now.

"Look out for (young player who could break through)
The Brazilian left back whose name I can't spell"

Just call him Joao Silva :-)

Translates as John Silva, or Long John to his friends

Hardly anyone could get get Andersen or Kolli right but at least they had a stab at it!

Poll: QPR to finish 7th or Brentford to drop out of the top 6?

As said higher up I think what's going to happen is we're going to have a BIG WEEK where literally everything comes out. Manager, signings, contract renewals, friendlies, kit launches. Announcement or two every day, drip fed out over a week or two. Twitter will go absolutely crazy for it. It'll play really well there. We'll be "cooking".

However, at the fan sites meeting in January, Nourry refuted our suggestion he'd saved up announcements for the fan forum to use as Easter Eggs. Said it was "unfair and inaccurate". When we pushed back he did then admit that they had indeed held the Dembele announcement because "we thought it would be a nice thing to do".

So I'd be interested if that is going to happen again. I totally get potential legals around a new manager (albeit that's a situation we've caused for ourselves), but there's no legals around new signings, and there's certainly no legals around telling us who your pre-season friendlies are. Those kit launch dates are clearly structured around the 'high profile' friendlies they've got.
