Manager situation 09:47 - Jun 8 with 85179 viewsstainrods_elbow

MC has been on GL for nearly 6 weeks now - and not a whisper from the club, not even to clarify what they propose to do with him (or he with them)! It's pathetic and unacceptable.
The club also, obviously, needs to be planning its pre-season and recruitment. We're supposed to be operating a professional entity, with buy-in from the fans. Pah!

What will/should happen next?

If we do get a big week, with loads of announcements, I am going to start a thread called 'Cooking with Nourry'.

I might start one about all the stories about him called Jack-a-Nourry.

I found myself singing:
“Onward Christian Nourry, marching as to war, with the Cross of Charing going on before”

As they should if he knew his boss and the Chairman wanted him gone (which he did). What else was he to do? Having a conversation with another club/employer happens all the time in football and in business. It’s not a sackable offence nor gross misconduct in any normal profession, and from speaking to those who have worked in the game, it’s not in football either. Happens all the time. We did it with Cifuentes’ agent to get him!

He could still have wanted to stay and also have his people protecting his future talking to other clubs too. They are mutually exclusive.

Regardless, it is done. We need a new manager and we’ll be paying for two coaches this coming season.

Wasn’t really saying it was right or wrong HH. If you really want something to happen you have to meet half way and maybe compromise. Though I’m not sure I know any managers ready to compromise over the option of a pay-off.
We’d all probably be doing the same if we felt our job was on the line tbf. He should have been smarter and waited for the pay-off. There’s always a place on the championship playground roundabout for a decent manager if he needs it.

I posted the link basically to suggest (especially given the timing of this event), that release/buy-out clauses were very likely included. CN and Co. may have ceased the opportunity and have either triggered that clause or are going through the required motions. Also, I would not be surprised if his #1 target is still under contract.

Expect to be told, A LOT, that Sunderland didn't appoint Regis Le Bris until June 22 last year.

The strategy of purposely filtering communication and hiding decisions is disrespectful at best and shouldn't be tolerated. Fúck this ego child and his apathy to supporters.

Or the club should have been smarter and waited for an approach. Wasn’t that the point of the buy-out clause?

Scott Parker was appointed manager of Burnley on 5th July and it didn't hurt them too much.

I think this is part of the issue .

If it was that we were just taking our time over a new head coach, with a decent and balanced squad set in place then yes, there’d be some impatience of course, but we would all be a bit more understanding.

But it’s the whole situation that’s angering a lot of fans at the moment .
There is so much wrong and so much to put right in such a short space of time.

Just repeating myself daily now.
Like we all are no matter your view.

As Simmo said, it’s just unacceptable to leave fans with not a crumb of a clue about anything .

Exactly.

Burnley had £90m worth of mitigation against stupid decisions. We don’t.

That's it in a nutshell really. Nourry seems to hold us in complete contempt. We aren't worthy of any information. No way to run a club.

To be clear, I think better due diligence is a good thing. Personality disorders have cost us dearly.

But we shouldn’t be looking for a new manager in the first place, and honestly, it could all be bullshit anyway.

My suspicion is it’s all agreed, or all but agreed, with somebody, Stephan possibly, but they don’t want to announce it without a Cifuentes settlement and vice versa so you’ll get it altogether, along with a couple of other goodies for the kids.

I'm not sure it will make much difference who it is. We"ll probably be looking for a another guy before the start of next season.
And if you think I'm being unduly pessimistic, note that of the 24 managers who started the 24/25 Championship, only 7 remain in post.

Given the escapades over the last two seasons from August to November, im quite comfortable if we remain manager less until mid winter.

Just call him Joao Silva :-)

Translates as John Silva, or Long John to his friends

This guy, Long John ‘less injured’ (than most) is also quite tall.

Can’t wait to see him play, although I’m fairly certain he’s going to be very, very one sided and somewhat wooden at times.

Maybe we can use the parrot as cover too.

Those possessed by devils, try and keep them under control a bit, can't you ?

I think it's unlikely to be driven by apathy of the management or an intention to disrespect you. Interesting you feel that because I believe it’s instead likely motivated by maximising revenues at the club. I find it unlikely that a young CEO early on in his career had already reached the point of being so jaded that he is “apathetic” towards the clubs fan base

The sort of fan who doesn't log on to a message board like this regularly or refresh twitter looking for updates is going to spend money at the club if they can so despite those fans craving the content the most, what benefits the club financially may not be to have a strategy that keeps those fans happiest.

So by spreading out the news, or having a flurry of positive news like at the end of this month around pay day as we approach the end of the loyalty renewal window. It prompts them into an increased likelihood of them buying a ticket. As it increases the number of days more fans think about the club, click the link and go on to the clubs website and for many reasons on any one of those extra days maybe they do find themself buying a match ticket. Which they might not have bought if the club had released all the news in late May or early June. When maybe a chunk of fans are on holiday, broke, at a wedding, busy with work etc

If spreading the news out maximises the revenue then that is the right approach for me
