I need to know what the plan is if the methodology isn’t going well in the first 20 minutes. What is our Plan B methodology? How many of the players can spell methodology?
It's early days and of course I hope he is successful but Stephan just doesn't have the air of a QPR manager - think Critchley and you'll know what I mean.
That's a brilliant example.
I remember thinking at the time it wasn't just QPR thing but a London thing... Southern even.
He always strikes me as a northern northerner type not really one fir "that London ".
I could be totally wrong but nothing since suggests otherwise.
But - The game model - The set piece strategy - The methodology - The defensive strategy are very important to how we play but they are all owned by other coaches, coaches who don't even report to Julien.
How easy can it be for Julien to make the necessary in-game changes when he has to take into account whether they are aligned with the prescribed frameworks?
If you are comfortable with this and don't think it makes Julien's job harder, fine, but to me, that structure looks like an impediment and it worries me, a lot.
In some respects, if QPR set tgeir stall out and said: this is how we work, this is why and this is what we want you to do to deliver above the line project goals, then if JS accepts the job, then that's it.
The questions for me are: if he thinks Nardi presents the best chance today, will/can he pick him? And if he thought, 4-4-2 would work better against CAFC, can he/would he do it? If yes, then on him. If not, then yes, he's a puppeteer and good luck holding CN's toes to the fire.

I think we’ll see a few changes in both personnel and approach today, and this will be Stephan’s team/approach, more so than anything that has gone before.
What that results in, I have no idea!
I think today is straightforward, play out from the back and I think we’ll get beaten comfortably. Go more direct and play from their half, with Kone up top and Burrell off the bench, and I think we can get a result.
If Charlton get the better of us today, is it just Orient and Barnet as a worse London club than us in the football league? Sobering…

Yes but Warnock went everywhere and lives down in Cornwall
Not really like how Critchley comes across.
It doesn't mean every northerner... Ainsworth is a northerner too, but some do come across in a certain way, I'll be surprised if Critchley heads further south than northern Midlands job wise again, stand to be corrected but it would surprise me

Great credit to Julien today: team selection and subs both worked out and the team’s attitude and application seemed a lot better. Let’s hope he can build on it.
Didn’t like the staring line up Didn’t understand most of the subs We won 3 - 1
Take a bow Julien
Not sure any manager worth his salt would have done a lot differently today. Fairly basic stuff. Still it's a tough gig we know that and he doesn't seem to be getting any help from those around him. Hope he enjoys that well earned drink after his first win 👍
Absolutely key, and very obvious, how we did not play out from our goal kicks. Did it only twice by my count, one Morrison lumped long immediately, and the other almost resulted in a goal for Charlton when Walsh smothered at Kelman’s feet.
Kudos to Stephan for changing that. Players looked far more comfortable taking those “traditionally” to either Dunne on the right or Kone. Meant the game was played higher up the pitch, and Charlton simply didn’t have the class to cause too much danger from there.
Kone made that possible, mind. Absolute animal, and great movement off the the ball.

For those with better memories than myself - At what point in last season did we first change tack and stop knocking it endlessly across the back four and go more direct onto Jimmy’s head further up the pitch?

November. Late November, I think. Might have been the home against Stoke on the 23rd which ended in a draw, but felt like a shift.
By far the most relaxed he's looked, understandably.
Mentions this was the first time he felt he had options to change things from the bench
Let's see how things look after an international break with the players, but there could a good manager here yet.
Undefeated at Loftus Road!

Fair play to him today. Got most things right today after last week's disaster. Subs at the right time etc. Class to mention Andy Sinton in the first sentence.
Really good post match comments, talked all about the team, the staff, and credit them, for the win
I don’t think we can doubt his pedigree but every coach needs to learn and adapt to a new league especially the English Championship and if you are foreign, maybe a bit longer. He’s still finding his feet, we need to allow him time to learn and grow with the team.
Two big points I took away from the post match were his mention about positive mindset and emotional stability
- positivity - no mention of the 7-1 defeat when they regrouped but all about what they wanted to do, the team tactics and how they were going to play
- emotional stability - explained why he controlled his emotions after the 7-1 trashing and even after the Charlton win it was not about “I told you so” but more let’s enjoy the win and take it cool it is only one win, get ready for the next game vibe
Really want him and QPR to be successful this season and beyond 🤞🏼
It's taken Stephan until the end of August to change the game model, whereas Cifuentes took months. I wonder what the next meeting of Nourry's heads of football depts will be discussing?
Again, I like him. Calm, stable and all about the players and the staff.
Hope it works out for him.

I like the talk of adaptation - with a squad with our limitations, we will need to be able to play in different styles at different moments, going direct when it works or playing through when it isn't.
I also liked the subs today, and thought they came on at basically the perfect moments (though I might have brought Hayden on for our tiring midfield a touch earlier). I was a huge fan of Cifuentes and absolutely seething when *all that* went down at the end of last season, but one weakness I felt he had was to be a little slow to bring on subs: Stephan is much more ready to bring on subs and much earlier.
Overall I think he did what he had to today after the abysmal performance last week.
