Two things:

“Fred Wested”.

Hair too long…trying too hard… I don’t know what to say to you Padula, given you’re namesake had the most amazing mane…do we know if Gino is still resplendent btw?

And yes I am folically challenged

Yes yes but the thing with Gino - no matter how much I loved him - I'd imagine without aforementioned glorious mane he'd have essentially been Christer Warren. He needed that barnet like we needed him as a cult hero. It was a proverbial match made in heaven.

Ronnie doesn't need it. He'd have the Roeder-esque striding out and turning defence into attack in an instant irrespective of the headband.

Do you think Ronnie would sell us his hair so we can stick it on Steve Cook as a wig and pretend?

Would Steve consider emulating Terry Mancini, and wear such a wig in the warm up before tomorrow's match?

Sneering aside it’s not a ghost rumour as WLS has reported that we’ve made a bid that was rejected. So there is something in it. Question is, can they do a deal.

Much as I like WLS it can be a bit "clickbaity" at times.

If David McIntyre puts his name to an article I tend to take it seriously.

He didn't put his name on this one

Good point KensalT. To use Mr Paddox's parlance, should I get my knob back out?

Christer Warren *shudders*

I tend to disagree on the Ronnie barnet, I’d love to see him gliding through midfield a la Roeder, mane swaying as he steps over, whipping oppo ACMs in the chops with his glorious hair

Marvellous, hhmmmm?

I knew Glenn well and after an iffy first few games I thought Edwards was about as Roeder-esque as we'd seen in a very long time. Certainly the difference in getting the ball forward from the back that we are crying out for. Let's see. Perhaps we miss out now but get him in the new year. You never know.

Never knowingly right.

He was an insanely good player, amazing he didn’t get more recognition…it was indeed a sight for my young eyes seeing him take off into midfield. i always imagined he would be saying “ah, fvck it get out of the way, I’m ‘avin this”

Argh no, Gino was a million times better than Christer Warren ever was, do not sully Gino's name in that fashion!

My earlist memories of the game are long sleeve shirts and mutton chops. We've come along way.

Now go buy Ronnie please.

Has anyone checked if he still has the hair?

There's no way we're signing him if the hair's gone.

On the bench again today. Ce on for the last two minutes. He can't be happy playing so little.

This…and Southampton fans don’t particularly like him, he was loved here, his family support us

Would be the final piece of the jigsaw for me, but we can’t afford him or can we

Sitting on the bench is going to do nothing for his international career aspirations. Surely he's got to be moving somewhere before the window 'slams shut.'

He was awesome last season, but if the fee is going to be north of £5m, we cannot afford him as that money is better spent elsewhere.

We are well stocked at CB...

Can we go out yet?

I think this is the point, isn't it? I mean, it's Edwards so you think that getting him can only be a good thing - but on a practical nature, we've got Morrison, Mbengue, JCS, Cook, Dunne...I am not sure how it can be justified when we need elsewhere?

Having said that, I though the same about Saito - and now I don't so much!

Been thinking about this too. I was pretty skeptical of the Saito signing because it seemed to be buying a player in a position where we had plenty of options, but sometimes I wonder if we can all over think it (or at least me)?

Perhaps we sometimes think too much about tactics and needs etc. when maybe we should just think "this lad is a good player who will make the team better, get him in"?

In Advanced Talks With Edwards on 08:54 - Aug 31 with 1526 viewsrottcodd

Edwards would clearly be an upgrade on Mbengue, but might not be required if JCS returns and Norrington Davies and Jimmy cover centre back if there are injuries.

Mbengue looks like one of those flawed but flamboyant players that are often beloved at Loftus Road.

If Mbengue is considered ahead of Cook, and we signed Ronnie, then Cook would struggle to make the match day squad.

In all of the post-game chat, no one seems to have mentioned that although Morrison and Mbengue were Ok on the ground, they got pretty much beasted in the air by Leaburn. A lot of our ‘midfield’ problems stemmed from the second ball from those knock-downs. I did wonder whether moving Dunne into the middle just to compete against him might have helped, but I can see teams targeting us if that’s our central pairing

Yeah 100%. Though even Jimmy didn’t win too many headers. But we definitely lost control because our centre backs couldn’t win their battles and so midfield was on back foot. Not sure Edward would change that, maybe JCS.
