A strong and controlled performance against a confident side. We are a class fit, hard-working side at the moment, and teams should worry about us.
Really looking forward to the tests, better teams in this division. I'm in no doubt we will lose some, but as long as we give a good account of ourselves, challenging to be the best.
We didn't need Mani tonight, but felt an absence of seeing his hold play and presence. Levi was a handful for Solihull and played his part, and would have learnt a lot from this game. Hope he can learn from Mani's style.
Good times to be following Dale.

Little needs adding to the, rightly, complimentary observations above. Would never have guessed 12 months ago, or even 6 months ago, Jim could have turned out a side so fast, crisp, efficient and great to watch as he did last night. Not for the first time this season either. Also, eight wins out of the first nine in the league is just astonishing work. Well done to all concerned.

Virtually faultless that. Said same thing as ddb observed previously, was like watching us under Hilly in our pomp. It was also reminiscent of the way Barnet took teams apart and dominated them (including ourselves) last year.
Beckwith absolutely a contender for motm. His attacking forays a joy to watch, topped off with a thunderbastard (c) altcomms.
Never seen East in so much space. He received the ball on numerous occasions and the Moors defence parted like the red sea and he played puppet master playing forwards in over and over until Shan decided it might be an idea to try to mark him.
Another great shift from Whatmuff between the sticks including stopping them adding a second with a cracking save but in truth no one played badly last night.
Spotland starting to feel a bit more fortress-like by the game. Regardless of how the season ends, it has been, and should continue to be, a very entertaining one to follow.

3rd major difference.
1st team not decimated by injuries. Last season everybody but Beckwith had sizeable time out injured. So far we’re doing ok, with only Pritch and Tuts out.
We are missing through injury one first team player, one depth player and a player who has not played yet. Greater depth and big leads in some games has meant that the wide forwards and wing backs rarely play 90 minutes. Rodney is also usually substituted to keep him fresh. This should help to prevent fatigue injuries.
Not having a revolving door of players in goal is also helpfully. If key players can stay fit and hungry we should be challenging.

The 4th goal last night was brilliant from start to finish.
I was in the Main Stand for a change last night and Taylor from the dugout doesn't stop barking at the players, he really is a welcome addition to the management team.
The 1907 bar in The Main Stand is looking smart too and the ex players night organised by Keith Hicks was excellent too.

Robbie Savage is obviously buzzing with their start - and why wouldn't he. He is confident they are the best in this division - it will be an excellent contest on the 4th of October.

Its a BRILLIANT goal to cap a BRILLIANT start by Rochdale - Don Goodman 26/08/10
An excellent performance last night, we could have been five up at half time, with the chances we had. I felt we sat back when we went four up and allowed them to get into the game, which we cannot afford to do against Carlisle and Forest Green.
It was nice to see East brilliant get the deserve the MoM award, but you could say that no one had a bad game for the Dale last night, Gilmour deserves special credit not only for last night, but overall his performances this season as been excellent.

That game was won by tactically acumen within the first 20 minutes. Utilising East so far forwards and almost leaving Gilmour on his own in the centre of the park left Solihull chasing shadows and we really could have been 5 up by the time we got the third.
It might have come way to late to get anything from the game, but it forced their manager to change their formation before they kicked off again and it allowed them to at least sit in and absorb the pressure better. Thought they were quite effective on the counter at times too, they’ll get points against the top teams this season, as seen on Saturday.
A comprehensive, professional, ruthless win.
Only negative was the needless Gordon yellow for getting involved unnecessarily. He’s done that before and need to cut it out.
You’re right about the booking; it’s the second occasion recently and they’ve been identical- Moss becomes entangled with an opponent whilst trying to shepherd a long ball out of play and Gordon gets involved totally unnecessarily by pushing players. He’s one player that we would miss if he was suspended, not just defensively but also with the ball. His link up play down the right is awesome to watch. On the subject of yellow cards, was the one shown to East for the original foul or for dissent? A cardinal sin if the latter. Mind you, the ref did seem petty at times. PS isn’t it so much better to see a combination of white shorts and socks under the lights?

East kicked the ball away when Solihull had been given a free kick.
And it isn't better to see that combination of colours. Our home kit is all blue and was worn v Gateshead and Blackburn U21 under lights. Given Solihull turned up with blue shorts, they should have worn our white ones if it was so important.

Yes, i'd written him off also. He's now playing better than at anytime in his Dale career, he's dropped a bit of weight and looks much fitter. He's been one of the standout players this season. He'll be tested on Saturday, keeping Linney quiet will be key to the game, let's utilise Mani and keep the ball in their half of the field. Attack is the best form of defence and Carlisle are vulnerable at the back.

If we were 4 up at any stage of the game against Carlisle or FRG I’d be delighted cos with the spirit in the team we would see it out for a victory. I believe we are the side most team’s fear in this league. No other team has only dropped points in one game. This league demonstrates time and again to expect the unexpected when it comes to results. Look at Solihull last Saturday. You can only judge a team on the opposition they face and 8 times out of 9 we have had the answer (one could argue mitigation for the loss). Sam Beckwith said after the game that we fear nobody. Music to my ears. Great time to be a Dale fan. UTD

Very satisfying performance. We more or less had the game won in 20 minutes, and the Beckwith goal just after half time sealed it. Solihull not the worst team we've faced and you can see why they have improved recently, but they couldn't cope with our first half high press and movement.
Everyone played their part, but a special mention for EEL, who has definitely improved leaps and bounds from last season following his long injury.
Loved us playing in white shorts and socks which, although forced, looks so much better than black.
Onto Saturday which promises to be a really stern test. They'll be itching to put last nights drubbing behind them, and hopefully, we can replicate our recent good form.
Up the Dale.

Are we not entertained? That first 20 minutes was exceptional. Let's push on in the second half.
Yes, really entertaining — top quality. It was always going to calm down after such an explosive start — job done. Best to contain and preserve the energy; after all, it’s a marathon, not a sprint.

That performance left a warm glow. The press was great and Solihull literally struggled to get out. I would have had my mortgage on Rodney to score in the first minute and thought we might regret that chance, but we were always in control. Amantchi passed the test very well and led the line far better than Mitchell ever could, without being Mani D. A reassuring position of not being fearful if Mani is unable to start, scoring 4 without him is a strong statement. Not easy to nominate a man of the match, but Beckwith just nudged out East for me. Although the team as a whole were the real winners. Could it be that McNulty knows more about this management business than we thought? Or at least is learning fast. Strange this league, these beat York on Saturday who in turn hammered Carlisle tonight. UTD
I know I am wrong here... but my 1st half MoM was Rodney. The power, pace and class when he is on his game lifts the whole team. I though when we win big its because Rodney is on fire.

No body can be wrong for suggesting any outfield player was motm last night, there were loads of candidates.

Great show all round from our lads....to a man, they were all good. Personally, I would have loved Levi to score and many times he did just that.....excellent performance.
Just listening to Sparky and he means business on Saturday. He might be in for a shock if we show up like we did tonight?

It was an impressive evening, I dont think we have moved the ball as quickly as that for a long time, it speaks to a confidence and belief that has been building as the season progresses, McBride was part of the secret sauce, he finds space than many miss and his passes are being capitalised upon.... Amantchi looked a little ring rusty but occupied defenders and made room for East and Rodney to finish...
White shorts and socks for night matches seems like a good idea even if they were the result of a colour clash rather than a choice, especially when the team is pinging the ball around like pinball wizards..if Jim is still looking for his 1 percent advantages its something to consider, at least under floodlights.
So, no reason to fear saturdays encounter, taking points away from top- end clubs and beating everyone else is a decent recipe for success thats hard to beat.. 2+ goals a game and 2.6+ points per game average sets a standard that only a very, very good team will beat.....

We won 4-0 under lights against Gateshead wearing what is our official all-blue home strip, when we produced arguably a better performance than last night.
We will have plenty of Saturday games that will finish under lights from November to January. Should we change to white shorts and socks at half-time?
The league won't allow us to keep changing willy-nilly, as we registered an all blue kit with them, for games played with and without floodlights.

Fast starts in home games are key i think. Don't give the away team time to settle and organise themselves. When we move the ball around at a quick tempo most teams struggle to contain us.

That's the way that Oldham won the playoffs, go out and kill the game you have your tails up. I keep saying we need to get to 100 asap, I'm thinking that you could finish on 100 points and still finish second.
