Well, I don’t want to get too excited, but fair play to our Danish Pirlo.

I kind of saw the point of him today

Someone remind me what it is about Madsen - 6ft 4in, doesn't kick with his left foot, has no pace, turns like an oil tanker, can't tackle, unable to accelerate, hates defending, just finally finding some confidence because he has been played as a central number 10 and has shown genuine vision and passing ability - that would make anyone think yep, he's my man for wide on the left this afternoon. A stinker of a decision from Marti.

Taking performances out of it, good or bad, fair play to him for making himself available.

Appreciate that's the minimum but he's taken some stick hasn't he.

He gets the credit when he does well, it’s just that he’s totally anonymous most of the time.

Can we please consign ‘luxury player’ to the LFW glossary!!!

Very very far from our worst player today. Yang, Kolli, Fox, Morrison, Anderson….all very average. Edwards in midfield not ideal either.

His assist showed quite clearly where he should have been playing all day. Mystifying. (As was upsetting the Morrison-Edwards partnership).

Yeah completely agree. Madsen had to start central. I get we’ve got injuries and the Varane one clearly disrupts so late but why not try to limit changes to the side. Madsen in middle, bring Morgan in for Varane, keep Edwards at the back.

Quite. It's a team game. Looking for scapegoats is for mugs. We lost because we played s**t as a team for about three quarters of the match! Madsen was no better, nor worse, than anyone else. In fact he provided the pass leading to the goal that raised our hopes.

Does he have more assists than Smyth now?

Agree with all the comments on here re: team selection today. It was truly odd as even Mark Hughes could see you can't play Andersen and Madsen together as Norf says.

I reckon Madsen is going to be a big player for us next season. I have been known to be very wrong.

1 - Madsen did OK again today even though the overall team performance was not good.
2 - MC played Colback & Edwards defensive midfield 2 with Madsen, Anderson & Yang ahead of them with Kolli up front.

Madsen did fine today playing out of position, but his passing vision is better suited when he plays centrally, which he showed soon after he was moved there, playing Dembele in for his well taken goal. I guess Marti played Andersen central as he's been badly done for pace recently when playing wide, but it didn't work today. We need more pace out wide.

"We need more pace out wide. "

Badly missed Smyth and Saito today

Madsen was going quick enough to do his “hammy” Syrange as he seemed to do it after we scored and before the kick off was taken

We did, but Yang did OK I thought and Dembele when he came on.

We had no outball, defence was way too deep, Kolli isolated and no one running in behind. Only once Dembele and Sutton were on were we able to stretch them and it was a peach of a through ball from Madsen.

Too many Strollers & not enough Do-ers,

Wise words and why the balance of a Championship team is so important,

Not enough legs or aggression in Midfield,

Not enough courage to show for the ball or desire to win it from the 10s,

Second best all day.

Swansea were better than us basically especially upto around 70 minutes.....played the ball around well.

I thought Kolli, Anderson & Yang were not good......got better when we brought on Paal, Frey & Demebele.

I knew it would be difficult when I saw the Team line up.

Odd comments for me. One of the poorest team performances (well at least in the top 5) in terms of quality on the ball for first 70 mins . From the defence you had Fox and Morrison not having the bravery to bring the ball down and play out, the keeper taking the ‘go long option’ too much for my liking, he could have been braver, as the modern keeper does these days. I don’t look at that Madsen performance and think he was a problem. Didn’t play great or anything but far more issues than him.

Too many fans for my liking let players get away with taking the easy header rather than bringing a ball down and play, too many fans ok if someone does a sh*t touch and overruns it as long as they’re showing commitment. Genuine, basic football skills were on limited show today but people jump on the back of one of the few that wants to play on the deck and actually was the one with vision to open the opposition up, I think we can definitely get more from Madsen, but it’s the lack of basic quality from others which is really concerning me. Not Nico Madsen.

Yeah, I wasn't very optimistic when I saw the team sheet. And all this having different players starting in different positions all the time hardly helps our, already poor, patterns of play. (I appreciate the part injuries play in this but still).

Swansea looked like a team who knew where someone was going to be to receive a ball and where they might move to. We just look so lost too often.

Why wasn't Dembele starting? I was baffled from the off. Needs minutes, clear quality and what about using now to see if he can develop some understanding with Kolli, Madsen and others who will be here this year.

You can't have Andersen and Madsen in the same team. Neither can you include Dembele if you need to defend. Today showed how important Smyth and Saito were as defensive cover in front of the full backs.

I'm inclined to agree regarding Madsen/Andersen being on the pitch together is concerned. They're not exactly similar, but they work the same spaces. They should probably be subbing each other.

Madsen was going quick enough to do his “hammy” Syrange as he seemed to do it after we scored and before the kick off was taken

Madsen pulled up about 90 seconds before we scored pressing their goalkeeper . Limped about holding his hamstring waiting for the ball to go out of play then all of a sudden found the ball at his feet with Dembele running through on goal . MC was screaming at him to go down before Swansea kicked off so they could substitute him.

He’ll be missing for the last 2 games which I think is a bit of a shame personally.

More for Ben Williams to peruse over before he hi tails it back to the safety of Dubai

According Marti in his post-match presser, Madsen was able to walk off his hamstring tightness by the end the of the match.

I don't want to beat up on anyone here, or the player, but it is classic QPR that our two biggest signings by price last summer were Madsen and Clear, the season is almost done, and we still have no clear evidence either way whether they are any good or a waste of money.

One of whom has been available all year and lost his place to an 18 year old Development Squad signing,

Today was one for the Twitterati who think an occasional good pass is enough to cut it in the Championship, it's not.

Today was men against boys and Field & Varane were big misses as we had 3 ballers & Kolli up top and we all saw how that turned out.

The other thing, I've mentioned this in the match report and Nadera brought it up last week...

It's all well and good doing it now. The sun's out. the season's over, we're safe, the pressure is off, we're playing some poor sides. Where was this when we needed it? It's not much use playing well now.

That's not just singling out Madsen either. Ashby on Saturday was charging about, chucking himself into sliding tackles, throwing himself about, whirling his arms around. Great to see, but we're four games out from the end of the year, playing a crap Preston side in a dead rubber. Where was this before? He's been fcking drek for months, now the pressure is off he's going all Mark Dennis.

As Nadera and a few others have said, it's about mentality at this club. Very self satisfied and self congratulatory when it's going well, run and hide the very second it's not.

I saw this in your report Clive and meant to comment on it then, but got sidetracked. I know some players have underperformed for most of the season with Madsen obviously being one of them. However, as a team I don't think they can be accused of bottling it in the depths of winter and only playing well 'when the sun comes out'. Quite the opposite in fact, we were shite in August/September/October and March, yet thrived in the depths of Winter
