Good stuff but the really exciting news is: Nourry makes a statement in normal English! CEO Nourry added: "We are very pleased that Joe has further committed his future to the football club today. "He continues to go from strength to strength in training sessions and put in a string of very strong performances when called upon in 2024/25. We are excited for him to develop even further.”

Can’t help but feel that this is terrific recompense for our goalkeeping staff who have so enthusiastically embraced the pathway philosophy that is now seeing some of our brightest Category One keepers continue to be highly valued at QPR. Just my own thoughts of course.

The QPR summer transfer rumours thread on 11:22 - Jun 13 by Wilkinswatercarrier | I think they know it is winding some up and are now just making them even more gibberish to read the reactions. The best way for them to stop is to ignore it, and then they'll get bored. |
So they've gone past contempt and are now actively antogonising the club's fans? Triffic. I think Nourry and maybe Hoos are all aboard the franchise soccer bandwagon that has been introduced to English football by largely American owners. 'Legacy fans' (as 'big six' Premier League clubs call them) are actively a hinderance as they're noisy and have an expectation of reasonable value. Clubs would make more money if they didn't have ST holders and could sell every seat to tourists and one off ticket buyers. Clearly QPR are a little way from having earned that right but I don't think it's a huge coincidence that we had Yang and Saito at the club last year, particularly Yang what with the meet and greets and the availability of Korean shirt printing. P&S rules not only enable this to happen but actively encourage it. Owners and Chief Execs are tapping into revenue streams that these rules allow and those revenue streams are fundamentally changing and killing our game. The Premier League has already irreparably changed and it's bled deep into the Championship now too. PL clubs have started introducing rules whereby if you don't use a certain percentage of ST seats they whip the right to buy a ST away from you. They've taken the games away from Saturdays, they've taken kick offs away from 15:00, they've taken away FA Cup replays, they've taken stadiums out of communities and put them on the periphery for mass and international access. Nourry has little other context by which to understand football in any other terms and as a results business he likely has few other options anyway; he's hamstrung by P&S rules that dictate where spending power is able to come from. I don't think it's necessarily surprising that he doesn't particularly care what the club's members think under that backdrop. He's just fast tracking what will become the status quo to our wonderful community that is ultimately being phased out by capitalist greed. I'll never respect, like or accept it... but I think it's what's happening.

That's a very insightful piece. Thanks for posting. I'm sad to say I can see things progressing just as you describe them. I'm sure we 'legacy fans' will dig our heels in as long as we can, but I don't expect we'd be able to hold out against the capitalist behemoth forever. Perhaps a 3rd world war, a catastrophic climate event or a devastating global pandemic might change things a bit though.

The QPR summer transfer rumours thread on 11:24 - Jun 13 by RBlock | I think Sheppard serves quite a niche role as someone who is exclusively a DS keeper with no real expectation of progressing to the first team. That's quite helpful, providing a bit of experience to the U21s while allowing the other younger keepers to get out on loan and get minutes. |
He was Brentford’s u21 captain and when he left them they wrote a glowing eulogy about what an amazing guy he is around the building and it’s the same at QPR. His role is to be the balls and bibs guy - warm up the match keepers, train hard with them and be a good influence in the dressing room. As you say, he can also drop down to train twice a day and work with the DS keepers when one/both are out on loan. Nice work of course if you can get it, but in reality I’d be amazed if he’s being paid much more than expenses and plenty of clubs now have third keepers they’ll never use around for ‘vibes’

That's actually one thing I noticed when at a few DS games this year, Shepperd was absolutely the vocal leader shouting instructions to everyone in the team. It's nice to see that leadership with the younger players. It also allowed Salamon to go out on loan. Hopefully they keep finding the value out of these kind of players

That doesn't say anything about a family connection. What makes you so sure they are father and son? Or are you just guessing because it's a fairly unusual surname in this country?

From the above link. "Awards and citations: "Led by the 'calm and practical' Alex Nourry, who gives 'robust, cerebral’ advice.": Legal 500 UK 2016: EU and Competition" I don't mind a bit of 'robust, cerebral' advice once in a while.
The QPR summer transfer rumours thread on 14:12 - Jun 13 with 2013 views | LazyFan | There is also the view that why have so many Keepers? Sure, one young kid as a 3rd choice and then two mainstays. You see, if we sold Nardi to pay off debts, Walsh gets injured, one can always bring in an emergency keeper who's quite good. As we know, a few seasons ago, we brought in 3 of them. So, really, is there a need to have so many keepers? .... unless ... unless ... Signing young keepers and locking down Walsh to a new contract means QPR probably expect Nardi to move on at some point and soon. Good work here, as I believe Walsh is impressive for his age (remember, Keepers don't really get going until 26 and don't hit their prime until 30). If we sold Nardi tomorrow for £2m (we did for Dieng, albeit he was much younger), then this would be great business and keep the wolves off our bigger assets like Chair/Varane/Kohli/Dembele/Morrison for another season.

Where are you getting that from? I'm not seeing it: https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/officers/CVqNROy2ysgz BTW - it's Clifford Chance, not Chase. Think "chancer", it might help you remember :-) And AI also doesn't make that connection: "The Retexo Group directors are Charles Gould, the Founder, and Camryn Dyke, the Chief Strategy & Growth Officer. Charles Gould also co-founded Rexana Ventures with Camryn Dyke. Additional figures mentioned in connection with Retexo include Martha and Greg Walker, Retexo co-founders, and Denise Anne Shoker, a director of Retexo Consulting Limited. "

That's fair comment. But it's Lassel who made the claim about Nourry's family. My point is that he hasn't been able to stand it up. Instead he deflects onto another spurious claim he also can't stand up. I'm very sceptical about most of what Lassel contributes. I think a lot of it is calculated guesswork rather than genuine knowledge. Which is why I challenged him on this claim about family connections. I'm not saying he's wrong because I don't know that he is wrong. But he hasn't convinced me he's right. But if that's taking things too far and stepping out of bounds then fair enough. I will leave it there.

Not aiming it any specific poster or content, but we're on page 18 and the last response relevant to transfer rumours is now on page 15. I understand Nourry is the flavour of the month just like Kelman and Eze before him, but it does get a bit exhausting in every thread. Just a personal gripe

Agreed, it's painful and boring to see. Most posts are the same as months ago and not even in a thread that's related to him. If it were in his own thread fine, I wouldn't read it. But when you log in and think 'oh there must be rumours' and sift through a whole load of rubbish it puts me off this forum.
