Wouldn't surprise me if we arnt at least interviewing him. I think he'd be a good appointment personally. He seems to have a lot of knowledge about English Football so would be a sensible choice if we want someone who's young but has that experience of 3 game weeks.

Dave Mc made an interesting comment on his podcast saying they really want somebody who is used to managing and handling 3 games weeks - I can't imagine he's just made that up off the top of his head.

I picked up on that too Norf. Seems very unlikely that hasn't come in for the club. If that has been a criteria for previous managerial appointments then we've failed on another metric! Also highly unlikely to win a 3rd game in a week when you have 4 strikers who aren't very good and can't stay fit - a midfield you can only really confidently play 2 people in and no back up left back of note. A new Director of Football who can build a squad that can be used across a three game week effectively would be another take on that record.

I thought he set his Reading team up against us really well when they beat us in that pre-season friendly.

Same here. Felt a bit of a pointed jab that some in the club think he wasn’t handling 3 game weeks well. He also made a point to say that doesn’t mean it will be an English managerial merry go round manager (could be someone who has experience in a European conference league type compo). None of these names fill me with any joy, at least Cleverley knows what a true basket case is so might see our structure as comparatively mature.

Not convinced about him. Limited management experience had talented Watford squad who achieved nothing. were way better than them over both matches this season. Also most not all ex Man Utd players we have had in any capacity have been rubbish.

Yeah I thought that stood out on the podcast. Perhaps they blame Marti for some of the injuries and how he managed those 3 game weeks

I've always thought it's the players that can't pyhsically handle a 3 game week which is why we struggle for results, likes of JCS when he was alive, Cook, Colback, Frey usually have sit one of the 3 games out

Somebody posted the stats last season on how many teams win the third of the 3 game weeks and it’s bloody low . We had Plymouth on the weds and then Hull away on the sat so basically a week of being sat on a coach for the team , yeah good luck managing that esp with half. Squad who was injured or partly fit

Just seems an odd thing to base an appointment of an explicitly head coach and not club manager on. You'd think factors such as fitness, player mentality etc. would be involved, which sit outside of the coaching role and within the sports science and recruitment roles.
