I remember a couple of years back when we were first linked to Cifuentes - It was either when we appointed Critchley or Ainsworth - a friend of mine who works in the fancy data driven world of the Belk and Nourry player and manager recruitment for an EFL team (he attends a LOT of games, but that doesn't fit the data narrative really) told me that Cifuentes would be a massive coup. Ignore that we've never heard of him, we'd have ourselves a gem. Last week he told me the only name on the list he'd have any confidence saying was at that level was Thorup. Ignore what happened at Norwich. With a year down the line of experience and some very modern methods, we might have ourselves another gem.

That is just someone's opinion though, but someone who knows what he is talking about and the first positive thing I've heard about him. So I'd be open minded if that is case

Managed Beerschot apparently. Great name, great badge, it's a yes from me.

So that's where they got it from!

Agree about a manager not being a silver bullet, but not sure I agree about the club not being supportive.

Marti has fallen out with Nourry, but we don't know the details and probably won't until it is leaked in a year or two. I'm slowly coming around to how the club is setting itself up and I think that it is in the whole positive.

Whoever we get they have to fit into what the club wants namely a Head Coach.

We do know the details don’t we?

Set piece coach and signings and PR management.

Downvote if you like putting vegetables in your arse.

I wonder if Daren Anderton went into management…

Ol’ Sick-note would know exactly what to do with most of the signings and I reckon his data would be ‘sick’ too.

Those possessed by devils, try and keep them under control a bit, can't you ?

Still now 8/1 and 3rd favourite. Pretty quick rise. He wasn´t at the top 10 in the morning. But i believe his going to Southampton anyways

In my personal experience, when egos and personalities clash at management levels there is rarely reconciliation. I'd be delighted if he stayed but also astonished. He's gone for good.

Yes agree you would hope that if this was on the cards for some time our head honcho at LR would have researched more than one suitable replacement. Also this garden leave scenario needs sorting asap.

I still don't understand how we can employ a new manager when our current one is still at the club!

Be an interesting call. No Borja Sainz or Josh Sargent types hanging round our squad.

Here's an analytical piece on how he did things at FC Nordsjælland in Denmark, where he did quite well.

I think the attitude of the squad in the Home game was poor considering how little football they tried to play despite having greater resources than us. Also the way he dealt with the retrospective red card as if they were the victims. Doesn't fill me with much hope but that's just a small sample of him as a manager so hopefully Aston _hoops friend is correct if he does end up being the manager.

Its in the sports media in Denmark via Mr. Ballache, these guys are reliable apparently but I know we have a few Danes on here who can confirm or deny otherwise

Not really an issue - many managers who get ‘sacked’ in reality stay on the payroll until they find a new role or their contract expires.

In Cifuentes’ case he’s still getting paid so he’s not going to cause any trouble and object to the club hiring someone new.

I don't understand this, getting rid of Cifuentes and replace him with someone who has relatively done far worse in the Championship, given the comparative squads?

If this goes through, it had better go well, quickly or Nourry is going to look an absolute tool.

In fact Marti must make himself available to the club to ensue a steady handover. Won't happen though

This. My message to Mr Nourry is quite simple: Go On Then. Effortlessly deliver Queens Park Rangers victories right from the get-go in 25/26. To confirm, that means 8 Aug not Nov/Dec.

We win 7 of the first 10 games from Aug-Oct (or 10 /11 out of the first 15) and I'll be the first to say 'Very Well Done, CEO/DOF- Marti Who?'

But none of this, 'its a new Head Coach - will take time to bed in - short-term pain for long-term gain - change takes time, there'll be ups and downs' garbage if (by chance) we only win 1 or 2 of our first 10 games. All of that goes out the window with the 'bold' call on Marti imho.

Win (straight away) or bust for our CEO/DOF now whoever we appoint, assuming it was his call.
