Eze 09:08 - Apr 16 with 122656 viewssdm1508

I was just wondering what people's thoughts are on him since he moved to palace. Do you think he has improved as a player and if so what areas of his game have got better since he was with us or having better players around him helped? I mean having better players around him allows for more things to actually come off for him. He might have tried something with us and the players couldn't react etc

I was watching him in a game the other night and it just seems to be his consistency. His base level now seems to be a notch or two up. He doesn't have to do something amazing to effect the game

If they are going to sponsor the hand dryers in Ellerslie they will need to get that broken one repaired sharpish.

It's not broken it's a long term injury and will be sponsored by JCS.

Yes, it would be good to get Nico to explain what happens in this kind of situation. I wonder if our percentage is actually stalling the deal? Sounds like Eze is going to play tomorrow night. I bleeding hope he doesn’t get any kind of serious injury. He’s only got 2 years left on his deal so this is the transfer where us and Palace can make a few quid. They have Guehi out of contract next summer al he’ll have to be sold in this window again.

I can see why Nourry is tying a lot of players down to long contracts. Sounds like this is going to happen with Morrison soon. My one slight reservation is that if a player’s form drops and we can’t se them we are stuck with them with the likes of Taylor Richards etc.

This is what happened with Luongo and Gladwin when we signed them from Swindon. Swindon had to pay a percentage to Spurs so valued Gladwin more meaning they paid barely anything to Spurs for Luongo.

It would be so Rangers for this to happen us. They’ll value Richarlison as the same as Eze and we’ll get absolutely sweet fa.

I've thrown this into the mix previously: players need to be insured, so you're unlikely to insure a guy for £500k if he's worth £50m. Secondly, wages will invariably be paid in line with a player's value. Third, I'm sure we'll find VAT is due on transactions, and I'm equally sure HMRC would sniff a rodent with a large tail if they only got £500. Finally, Eze has a sell-on clause, purportedly £60m...ish, due to expire soon. Would look suss if suddenly CPFC said it was significantly lower the day after expiration.

I don't doubt the possibility of skulduggery, I'm just not overly worried we'll get royaly shafted.

Arsenal are apparently in talks with Palace according to the Athletic. That would help push the fee up if true.

Apparently Arsenal are still in the running after the news Havertz is out for a while. Personally would rather he goes there than Spurs. Bidding war…..

Poll: Preferred rumoured CB

I saw the Havertz injury and thought/hoped that would bring Arsenal back in the game. It's funny how the Eze transfer was quite quiet but all it took was 2 injuries, Maddison at Spurs and Havertz at Arsenal for clubs to want to buy him.

I like the sound of a bidding war.

I’ve seen Eze as an “Arsenal” player for a few years, I just wonder if their fans will be patient with him or not - they’re very hard to please

Completely agree. Madness when they have Martinelli, and complete reliance on Saka on the right, they weren't all in on him in the first place.

Still can't believe he isn't in demand at a host of other clubs. Great price, coming into his prime, yet Spurs wanted Gibbs White first, and Arsenal wanted Madueke. Mental.

Agree. Can cover Odergaard, rotate with Martinelli on left or cover Havertz while he's out. Plus, he might actually win the league. Levy's might have fcked this, which is always enjoyable.

Me too but it's likely Eze would get more game time at the Spuds.

Arsenal could have had him when he went to Palace but instead they chose Willian on a free

He is an Arsenal fan so that might sway him...that and it being a much better move!

Business to business VAT is irrelevant because it's a pass through - you pay it and then reclaim it.

So you do pay the 20% then.

If so, then as I mentioned, I assume the relevant authorities would want the correct amount paid.

I hope Eze gets a great contract as well. Probably double his wages at Palace.

So hopefully 9m coming our way.

Also if Armstrong is sold we might get two pound fifty!

If your business has full recoverability for VAT. Also timing on cash flow

I wouldn't use the money to get Saito though. If his club is asking for £5 million then that sort of money for him means you can't have him sitting on the bench. However, I think Dembele and Poku offer more pace on the flank. I would be using some of the money to get a defensive midfielder who can take the ball and develop the play and also good quality left back

I would hate to see Eze at spurs. I loathe them.

When I moved to oz for a while, I had to declare my criminal record, and write apologies for my sins.
Two related to them, it turned into a struggle session...the wife telling me to just write the bloody thing, me quite happy to jeopardise our future happiness......

Anyway, I wrote it and I'm still not happy, and neither is she.

Go figure.
