Haha yeah The Sun has a rich history with fact checking and corroboration before releasing anything that might garner a few clicks or sell a few papers.
I’ve always liked the journo who wrote the article. Surprised he’s behind this.

I can’t say the settlement agreement as fact Brian as I wasn’t in the room with his agent at the time, however I’ve heard it from enough people unfortunately to believe it to be correct.
Not meaning to put Norf on the spot also, but his rolling laughter response to the notion of a good faith chat to get ready for next season would to me imply that he has also heard the same 😐
Thanks, Lassel, just checking.
"The opposite of love, after all, is not hate, but indifference."
I honestly have no idea what will happen if we actually pay money to such a popular manager to get him to leave. Money which could have been spent on signing a remotely capable striker or keeping Jimmy Dunne or Koki Saito.
There would be SO much pressure on Nourry to find a super manager as a replacement. He would have to hit the ground running, win points - lots of them and immediately - and endear himself to an entire fanbase who will be coloured extremely skeptical en masse.
I honestly don't think he has any idea what he's letting himself in for. He's already unpopular but if this goes badly there will be literal protests on his name.
we have been here way to many times before when a popualr manager leaves install a fans fav to take the pressure off the board
so thats
warburton gary oneil maybe long shot promote furlong from dev squad, hes also cheaper but loves the club obv
its how we always do things and it usually goes very very wrong and we are back to square one . crap start players who dont fit the style of football we are suppsoed to be playing and repeat .

I've said before Nourry strikes me as a nepo-baby who's in because Daddy knows someone. In fact I actually wonder how much of his stated background, if any, is true. I listened to a podcast from Tortoise earlier this week about a guy who's blagged himself a career in high level civil service and Silicon Valley companies by faking a background in private schools, high level universities, and military service in Afghanistan.
Obviously cannot say that is Nourry also because I have no evidence for it (before I get sued yadda yadda), but I'm a cynical person and he doesn't come across as trustworthy in the slightest to me. Remember one of the quotes we saw when he was first appointed claiming he was the "Lionel Messi of the football business"? Ha!
If he genuinely has been walking around the training ground in his own initialled tracksuit he would without a shadow of doubt in my mind have been a figure of ridicule amongst the players and coaches. A football executive has no business prowling training pitches in their own branded tracksuit. Les Ferdinand was different because he played and scored goals at the highest levels and players would respect that element - they will not respect some jumped up public school kid doing the same.
I knew three years ago we'd regret getting rid of Warburton and I was right with the disasters that followed (that Marti has had to rescue from the dumpster fire). If they do the same again they will absolutely regret it again.
Agree on Warburton. Football clubs often get greedy and misplace their standing chasing what they see as progress. Like when Tottenham fans were justifying sacking Pochettino for Mourinho because Poch didn't win Leicester's title or that Champions League final. Seriously? Tottenham in a Champions League final and you're ok with sacking him because he didn't win it? How's that gone for you lads?Similar vibes with Bristol City sacking Gary Johnson after losing that Playoff final to Hull... He had them 10th in the next two seasons, they got rid, they finished 15th, 20th and 24th in next three seasons.
It did feel like an element of hubris when Warburton went and that will be even worse if they essentially sack MC.

So with WLS reporting this...
Cifuentes said: “I need to sit with Christian and decide what is the plan. What does he want? And what is the idea? Obviously I have my thoughts and my ideas on how we can improve.”
... do we have to accept Marti is basically lying to us?

Why would Ian not run this story if he is confident it is accurate? Surely as the QPR fan he is, it makes sense to let us all know whilst there is still a chance to get our opinion across?

If there is any meeting happening, then this article kind of blows that out of the water in my view. If it was never happening in the first place, then we’ve been lied to again.

There is nothing in the article that suggests a meeting is not happening, it would be pretty standard practice to discuss things at the end of the season but if the relationship has broken down it won't be a long meeting

the concern would be the players, I can't see many of the out of contract players wanting to stay if Marti goes, well not the ones we want to keep. Chair speaking out about how good the manager is as well this week, you could very easily end up with an unhappy squad similar to what Neil Critchley walked into

I get your point, but surely in this day and age no employer is impressed just because of an old school tie?
I went to St Paul's, admittedly 25 years before Nourry, and I can assure you that going there does not mean you are intelligent. It means your parents can afford the fees.
From my experience, It can also make it quite likely that you turn out to be a complete and utter c***.
Nourry Out.

I think Connell would agree

Haha agreed. We have a guy here who claimed when joining he had enough experience working in football to date back to pre-GCSE age and here some people are calling MC a liar for mentioning a meeting with his boss that may or may not happen.

Super point Dave.
Could we even draw a line between the strange Jimmy Dunne contract dots and suggest he's not signing knowing there's a decent chance MC won't be here?

A lot of people trying to play detective here. Article is from a good journo who knows his QPR stuff. Marti thinks certain aspects of the club need improving, CN doesn't. They are arguing about it. They'll have a meeting to see if they can reconcile their differences.
It would be an absolute bollock dropping by the club if they let him go. He's loved by the fans (and seemingly the players). Nobody would begrudge him moving to a bigger club if the opportunity arises, but to toss it all in over seemingly small fries is such a shame.
It's probably a salvageable situation if Marti and CN want to salvage it

The concern for me is that the board/owners when given a one or the other choice tend to back the wrong horse.
They did it going back to using Agent Kia or keeping Warnock, Listening to the DOF or giving the job to Holloway and later Steve McClaren, Believing Les or Warbuton on the state of youth prospects and then later ignore les and appointing Ainsworth
I think when it comes to it they will back Nourry becasue they have fully bought into his bullshit same as they did with Mick Beale

Fans can make a difference. Hopefully we sing his name on Saturday nice and loud. We kept him in a job after the Stoke game.
I think it's often forgotten that the crowd had turned on Warnock when he was sacked (MK Dons away in the cup was pretty ugly)

Like any other fickle fan, I'd be very sad if Marti left - for many reasons - but if we found a suitable replacement who turned out to be an improvement, all this would be forgotten. But that's a very large IF. The potential for this to go tits up is huge.
We love to say "only at QPR" - where of course many other clubs are run like circuses - but nevertheless, what a facking shit show. Rumours flying, good will draining away, little to no communication from the club....ugh. Why oh why do we have to keep going through this self-immolating cycle?

Or a good leader would get them both sat down and see what differences are and how we can move forward. It doesn’t have to be one or the other. Let’s just move forward and make playoffs next season!

Well yes, I did the Hoops & Dreams preview show last night ( avaliable now on you tube) and James made that point, the owners or chairman should be finding a way to get them to work together and really should have stepped in months ago but that seems beyond them

Unfortunately they’ve left Lee Hoos in charge. Who hired Nourry, who reports into him. Both are in lockstep. Neither with an ounce of football strategy or operations experience between them. If you thought Hoos had an oversized, unchecked ego, you ain’t seen nothing yet.
There’s several of us been hinting at the elephant in the room for some time. It was always going to come to this. And will be the same for the next coach. And the next one.
Bit harsh to say Hoos has no football strategy or ops experience, I mean he was Burnley CEO before he came to us.
Nourry of course far less experience.
But in terms of which horse Hoos is likely to back, Nourry is his man in the end.
Without Marti we’d be sitting in L1. His overall impact on the club has been enormous from transforming a squad of players that weren’t performing last season and getting us through this recent injury debacle to stay in the Championship. The Board, particularly Ruben are not stupid. I’d like to think our esteemed and arrogant CEO is getting some heavy feedback on his handling of Marti. Who knows but maybe Nourry is feeling some real heat from the owners on this. We’ve literally been selling the place out week after week despite the ongoing behind the scenes shambles. I can’t believe Ruben would jeopardise that enormous goodwill and financial backing.
