We aren't going in to the season with the same strikers as last season (as things stand) because we also have League One's top scorer in addition.
Bringing in young players to develop seems a decent strategy to me. The problem last season was the first choices also had to bed in.
The majority of the first team will probably be the same as last season so the players coming should have a bit of time to acclimatise.
I think left back is the only real concern from a starting 11 point of view. |

We never have a fully fleshed out squad by this point of pre-season -- it's literally a fitness tour. I agree I looked at that squad list and grumbled, and wasn't massively surprised when it got annihliated on Saturday. But even then it was full of youth players (some out of position - i.e. Bennie at right back) and really poor individual mistakes. I think to suggest that we're certainly going down is pretty harsh though.
That said I really don't want to sit through another pasting on Friday, so I'd rather we started playing a more recogniseable 1st team instead of 2 teams for 45 each, but then thats just me |
I agree with the last paragraph. QPR need to select a strong starting line up against Toulouse to try and gauge a better idea of how this squad is likely to do in the Championship.
Last season’s pre season games showed that the squad lacked goals and so it proved in the league. A lack of goals today and next week’s friendlies will hopefully influence Stephan and the Board to buy a striker to add to Frey, Kelman and Kolli ( I don’t rate Celar and Lloyd looks L1 level at best). | | | |
