The QPR summer transfer rumours thread on 01:13 - Jul 23 by HAYESBOY | The problem with Kelman is that he is in the last year of his contract. We have to sell if an offer comes in near 5m. We need to learn lessons from the past. |
No evidence yet that he can do it in the championship. If that kind of money is really on the table then those at the club should have a good idea on whether its worth taking rather than risk him not performing and any value disappearing as his contract runs down.

The QPR summer transfer rumours thread on 23:22 - Jul 22 by numptydumpty | If we sell Kelman, for me, even if the offer is £5 million, its is idiotic and would be yet another ridiculously poor decision made by a QPR hierarchy. He would need replacing and for £5million or less, you get a player who could work and maybe could not, a bit like with the man we have in front of us. Am slightly concerned about two potential decisions currently it seems our new man at the helm is making. In that Celar is higher up the chain than Kelman, and Walsh is higher up the chain than Nardi. Both, i personally disagree with completely Very happy to be proved wrong but really I think to potentially get rid of Nardi and Kelman even if we do get a bit of dosh for both, what is the point exactly. So my bet of us coming 16th comes off. |
I highly doubt £5m is the fee, expect less. Also, if he only has 12 months left and won't sign then he gets sold, that's not idiotic it's the complete opposite. Good luck to him, wherever he ends up, and hopefully we have a big % sell on clause, just incase.

The QPR summer transfer rumours thread on 07:51 - Jul 23 with 4051 views | daveB | a real shame, we've done the right thing with him, got him some good loans which have really helped kick him on and then gone before he makes any sort of impact in our first team
The QPR summer transfer rumours thread on 09:26 - Jul 23 with 3733 views | dm97 | If he is not going to sign a new deal this window he has to be sold. Not sure how many more BOS, Manning, Willock situations people need to go through to see where this ends. We can’t afford to be losing the fees these sorts of players get. We’ve relied on another Eze-style sale since 2020 (or even just another Eze sale for the sell on) and it’s got us nowhere. We have to be generating money every summer and it’s him or Varane at this point. For me that’s not really a debate [Post edited 23 Jul 9:26]

The QPR summer transfer rumours thread on 09:29 - Jul 23 with 3692 views | BAWHoops | Interesting that the bids have come from Luton and Charlotte FC. Not exactly the high end Champ clubs some thought. I'd love to keep him. He's done the hard yards on loan and it seems a shame to lose him as he starts to come good. However if he isn't signing a deal you need to take the money you can for him. He is unproven at this level

Why go back down a level? Surely playing in the championship gives him better shot at making the US World Cup team than playing in L2 with Luton | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Asked a few people I know who watch a lot of league 2 about Tovide, apparently he is excellent. Pace, power, direct running, constantly causing defenders problems. One of the standout players in the division when fit...and here is the QPR bit....when fit. Lots of injury problems already. Feels worth a punt out of contract though

The QPR summer transfer rumours thread on 23:19 - Jul 22 by CamberleyR | Getting relegated twice in succession, they don't get them in L1. |
You are usually correct with the knowledge, CamberleyR, but where did you find that out?

I'm a Colchester United season ticket holder who also hangs around here because I used to follow Rangers home and away before moving to Colchester and having kids who I took to watch the local team. So let me tell you about Samson, which is pretty much as Aston has said. The kid is strong and powerful and gives centre halves a torrid time. He is also still quite raw and gets into trouble with the crap refs we have in L2 (even worse than the Championship) because he does allow those same centre halves to get under his skin. Most of his yellow cards, and he gets quite a few, come from these sort of tussles or his reaction to them. He's quick and direct, the link is to his best goal of last season v Port Vale... Him being a work in progress shows in the fact that his finishing can be a bit erratic, not surprising given his age, but if he continues to develop he'll hopefully put some of that right. But he is also a decent passer of the ball and had a reasonable assist total. If Stephan is going to play 2 up top he would be ideal in the second striker role but he can also be the hold up forward in a one. His injury issues are a concern. It's partly as a result of how he plays but I think if he's well managed that can be overcome. He's not out of contract though, he's signed through to 2026, so Rangers will need to pay. Our Chairman is pragmatic though. Hell want a reasonable up front fee but, like the Poku deal, he'll be happy with decent add ons and a sell on clause. Also Tovide and Poku know each other. Colchester are resigned to him going so hopefully he ends up at Lotus Road. [Post edited 23 Jul 10:54]

The QPR summer transfer rumours thread on 10:59 - Jul 23 with 3126 views | RBlock | Sounds a bit like an old charge of ours, now down at Bristol. Pace and power, but injury prone and very raw.

Tovide has played near 80 games and looks much more athletic. Don't tarnish him with the Armstrong brush. I would say that if we do sign him, he cuts out the Chelsea love in on Twitter ASAP.

Yoiu do assume a lot don't you? Maybe Kelman has already told the club he won't sign a new contract! Why would you keep him then? He's 23 so not young and he still hasn't proved he's good enough for the Championship and I have my doubts he is. There's not exactly a queue of Championship clubs in for him

The QPR summer transfer rumours thread on 02:05 - Jul 23 by VancouverHoop | Would he go back to L1 though, even for more money? He's a known quantity there. Most teams will have an idea of how to play him by now. If Luton don't get promoted he could end up being nothing more than the best paid player in level three. I s'pose he might be content with that, but I'm not sure I'd want him on my team if he was. |
To be fair to Kelman why wouldn't he go for decent pay day. I dare say he's on pretty conservative money with us and he's 23 so I doubt he's ever going to make it to mega wages anywhere so why wouldn't you cash in?

Not if he's scoring twenty odd goals again which he's very unlikely to do in the Championship!
