The QPR summer transfer rumours thread on 10:14 - Aug 6 by Myke | How long does it take to sort Ba's visa? It's beginning to look like one of two scenarios: Either the deal has gone south or he is here with the past fortnight and the club will announce it at half-time on Saturday. |
Despite him starting the game probably!

The QPR summer transfer rumours thread on 19:54 - Aug 5 by Dono77 | Keiffer Moore going to Wrexham for 2m. That's a cracking deal. Yet we are stumping up 500k and have spent 1.3m on burrell. Ba cant even get a work permit and we need someone like yesterday!!! Why are we so slow to get a striker in?? 3m on celar vs 2m on Moore?? It's a no brainer |
It's nowhere near "a cracking deal". He managed to score 5 times last season in a team that were in the top 3 all season. He's 32 and will be demanding a salary far higher than we are prepared/ should pay, with no sell on value. Give me Burrell or Ba in preference. They might not work but you can be sure that, even if Moore works out, it will be 1 season only.

The QPR summer transfer rumours thread on 10:34 - Aug 6 with 2777 views | DannyPaddox | It’s Wednesday, Less than 4 days until the first game of the season. I’m beginning to worry we’re leaving it a little late to get a centre-forward in, show him around the ground, organise a game of paintball in a wooded area in the home-counties in order to speed-bond him with the rest of the squad, arrange a behind closed doors game against Chertsey Town to properly cement him into the first XI. Not forgetting a day with the media team, new boy wearing green and white hooped third kit draped in the club scarf assuring us he is going to become the best version of himself. Edit: Scrap the paintball in the woods - injuries sustained would be up there with the Charge of the Light Briagde.
The QPR summer transfer rumours thread on 10:54 - Aug 6 with 2594 views | Hoopsarrr | The board must really rate BA if they’re willing to wait this long to sign him. I’d be surprised if we didn’t have a few revealed in front of us Saturday during the halftime DJ set.

The QPR summer transfer rumours thread on 09:25 - Aug 6 by wombat | u cant have a squad when every player has a possible resale value , just cant be done you need some been thewre seen it players at the end of there careers as well, thi is the issue and indeed last season the balls deep approach that every player is a Baller has to be resold for profit at a later date even with some late comers coming in at the end of the window this squad is weak , very very weak , we havent named a striker in the last 3 friendlies and the strikers we do have couldnt handle the workload last season and so far we have bought burnell in to change that problem who may or may not be a good purchace we wont pay the money wycombe want for kone thats if we even ave it in the first place , nkada like many brought in no idea if any good or will he be another celar ? |
Have we signed Nkada? Kone sounds like pure click bait. Wycombe reportedly declined £6m for him last year. [Post edited 6 Aug 11:24]

Kone is in his last 12 months of his contract at Wycombe. I'd be very surprised if they get more than £3m for him. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Agreed. As I said, pour some salt on these Twitter-based chips, especially since the left back we have supposedly signed and who was due to be announced yesterday is a non-appearance. I only see a Kone deal going through if we have a deal for Celar to go lined up, because the money would have to come from somewhere.

If Celar isn't in the matchday squad on Saturday he's likely to be gone. I can only see us spending if Eze is sold. Lot's of moving parts required as per for us to make any moves.

The QPR summer transfer rumours thread on 13:47 - Aug 6 with 1314 views | BklynRanger | Apart from Celar I'd guess the balance sheet has got things on it like: wages of players who've gone, Kelman's £, where we are in the PFS cycle, other potential sales, and the potential Eze sale. Depending on how that all looks they may think they can find Kone level money, or that he's at least worth the risk in terms of later headroom. It would also make us a lot more tolerant of weaknesses elsewhere in the squad, speaking for myself anyway. But it's still the sort of thing that doesn't happen to us.
The QPR summer transfer rumours thread on 14:08 - Aug 6 with 1158 views | W12Mikey | I don’t really understand the excitement on here about Kone. Are people suggesting that we should take the money we got for selling League One’s top scorer (21 goals in 24/25 of which 1 was a penalty) and spend all that and more on League One’s 6th from top scorer (18 goals of which 4 were penalties)? If so, that seems irrational to me. Or am I missing something?

League one's top scorer wanted a move, so keeping him was not an option. Kone's overall stats look impressive, with a potential future sell on, if he can step up. This excites me more than Pape Ba, but I am guessing Eze sale would be needed and more attractive clubs seem to be in the hunt.

Kelman had 12 months left on his contract and was clear he wasn't going to renew and wanted out. He was an asset declining in value, and we made a pragmatic decision to sell before his value further decreased. There's also the fact that everyone's view on Kelman was negatively tainted from poor appearances in the past (albeit with a very limited sample size). If we signed Kone, we'd be getting a player who wants to be here and will be under a "multi-year contract", who's value is likely to increase. Also, new blood. More signings.

They're also different players. Kelman looked more like an out-and-out striker than a 9 to me, especially at this level. I'm not completely convinced about Kone either but he's as good a bet as Kelman was imo

A no 9 is an out and out striker, Shirley? If not, what number does he wear?

I think the poster is equating a 9 with the idea of a CF, as compared to a fox in the box John Spencer type. I myself struggle with what number to give that type of foxy boxy player. Different types of 9 I suppose. In many ways it hails back to the days of 442, jumpers for goalposts, mother's calling, dinner's ready. Now we just pass it around interminably and wait for death.

So much simpler back in the day; 1 -GK 2-RB 3-LB 4 - Holding Midfielder 5 & 6 - CB's 7 - Ball player 8 - Attacking Midfielder 9 - 'Big' CF 10 - 'Little' CF 11- Winger 12 - unused sub
