As they have already started, we need a thread. Suspect most of these will be wrong/clickbait sites, but lets store them in one place.

Yet half the Championship had a worse injury records than us. If it were that easy then everyone would be fit. Personally I blame the match schedule.

The match schedule of 6 games in 5 weeks?

Really? Based on what exactly?

That 85% figure spouted by Williams at teh Forum sounds fishy to me. The kids and Dev Squad seem to be mostly available (less games, less physical games, etc.), so throw them in to the pot and you can easily skew the actual meaningful measure, which if first teamers lost time.
JCS, Cook, Dunne, Frey, Smyth, Varane, Lloyd, (Richards - stop laughing!).

What's that; 5/6 first choice players out before the season has even started? 50% of the first team - how many other Champ teams are in that state (Sheff W don't count) right now?

Can we go out yet?

Tragically I'm watching Rapid Vienna vs Dundee. Wish the Australian we'd got was Zac Sapsford. Great assist and good goal in tonight's game. 2 goals and 2 assists in his first 4 games. Looks decent.

The thing with statistics is you can make them say what you want , and William’s made them come out in his favour at the forum , he had the look of somebody who didn’t want to be here that night to be honest

And the "Australian" Martin Boyle scored both for Hibs against Partisan Belgrade.

Fun bit of news from the twittersphere, posted from a Japanese journo with 42k odd followers - not sure whether that makes him credible at all or not.

The tweet says his return is imminent, although the actual article suggests negotiations are at a 'dead end' and there's still a significant difference in fee, although that may be Google Translate.

Even if its not a priority position, I'm not actually against bringing Saito back, so long as it confirms that Ilias is now a midfielder - which is where I've long thought he would be best. He can receive on the half turn, protect the ball, work hard, carry forward in a way none of the others can.

Was a better LB than Ashby, so..

Or the Plymouth away on Saturday followed by Hull away on Tuesday. At least 12 of our league fixtures were mid week. That's just over 1 in 4 without Cup games.

Really hope this happens. Saito will be a big boost for us both as an attacking threat but also should help our left side defensively. Think it would help both Sutton's development in learning from Saito, and the Club in not needing to be reliant on Sutton playing just about every game. Smith has always looked more effective down the right with us.

I was roused from my general ennui about the new season by the Kone rumour, but Leicester seem more serious contenders.

If Saito was out of contract I'd say crack on and get him signed up. I don't think he's a player we should be spending money on though as much as I enjoyed his time with us last year.

I'd be happy with a Saito signing as long as it doesn't come at the expense of signings in the areas we need - LB, CM and CF. So of he's coming in for 500k or less then I'd be very happy for that, but I find that extremely unlikely given they were rumoured to want multiple millions not that long ago

I think it very unlikely we'll resign Saito. First, he'd take up a slot in our squad that could well be needed for a LB, CM, or Striker. Secondly, we have young players in the position he plays that we're supposed to be developing - remember the club model. Thirdly, we all loved him last season but his stats while with us don't really justify us bringing him back.

2 out on loan. 16 year old CB into mens football will be a big learning curve for the lad

I’m going to go the other way and say Saito would be a monumental signing for the club and major major coup. I think Nourry and coaching staff know it too.

He was our best player by the end of the season and for me we’d have gone down if he hadn’t dragged the team forward when we were in horribly poor form.

Two footed, super one on one skills, can score goals. Incredible work ethic and pressing. Indefatigable attitude.

For me he has the makings of good Prem player. Anything for £2 mill down would be a steal. And make us a very very potent attacking team.

23 years old, very high ceiling - lots of sell on value. Buy.

I loved watching him too but to say "we’d have gone down if he hadn’t dragged the team forward" is way over the top. 3 goals and 2 assists in 42 games, albeit not all starting, does not shout 'saviour'.

He did a lot more for the overall team play than those basic stats suggest.

So you may think it’s over the top but I don’t.

Massively under appreciated impact in the 2nd half of the season IMO

The only way Saito makes sense is if it's at a lower price than was banded around originally and if we think there's significant potential for future profit, which I guess is possible

It is a shame for him he isn't a cheeky Northern Irish lad really otherwise that output would be huge!

From what Dave Mc says here it does sound like the club remain interested in signing Saito.

I like Saito but really feel that we need some bigger, stronger , more athletic type of players in the squad at the moment.

We do - but if you can get Saito at a knock down price it’s about acquiring an asset and a business decision. Because he’ll be worth £8 mill once he has a full season now he’s up to speed with the league.

With that in mind they’ll probably spend remaining funds on Saito and plug the other gaps with loans.
