Surely every player is insured so any medical has to be accepted by a third party that is the insurance company. So where does this come from that the club is lackadaisical with medicals [Post edited 11 Aug 14:05]

He passed the stringent medical having managed to touch his nose with a finger and to piss into a bucket.
Admittedly he failed the medical at the first attempt, having pissed in his nose and only touching the bucket but he passed at the second attempt after Ben Williams obligingly touched Ba's nose and Tracey from accounts provided a sample.
Although, some concern that Ba might be pregnant have been ignored as the delivery date is not until mid-May. However, if we dobmake the POs, he'll likely be on maternity leave. |  |

Taylor Richards injured himself during a medical for Birmingham - passed ours and is often injured.
Charlie Austin, I believe, failed a medical at I think Hull, before we signed him. Obviously this one turned out well.
I know for a fact that we've signed players with knee injuries who then didn't actually go on to play for us.
Not entirely sure we're worse than other clubs - perhaps it's in the risk profile to try and sign players who're a bit more injury prone but are 'better' - but I don't really pay much attention to other clubs.
