The QPR summer transfer rumours thread on 08:43 - Aug 9 with 5721 views | numptydumpty | With five subs to be brought on, always a few players out injured too, think it would be very good business to get Saito. I think now his end product with goals and assists would increase too, a season on, and yes could sell on for a higher price. The impact with him in the team or coming on, as a crowd favourite, that could be another factor in his favour, for the pros and cons of getting this guy back. [Post edited 9 Aug 8:44]

The thing is where does he play? I love the guy but where does he now fit in? Plus we need a striker. Surely any money we have should be spent on a goal scorer?

The QPR summer transfer rumours thread on 10:36 - Aug 9 with 5265 views | dannyblue | Yes. Get Lowe, Nectaris Triantis, and Kone in before Saito. That’s imagining we have some cash to spend. The toughest years have rolled out of the cycle and so far I’d guess we’re a bit leaner Kelman and Lloyd > Burrell. Yang and Saito > Poku Paal > Larkeche Edwards and Fox > Mbengue Anderson > Pearman Ashby > Adamson Colback > ?

The QPR summer transfer rumours thread on 08:25 - Aug 9 by WestbourneR | We do - but if you can get Saito at a knock down price it’s about acquiring an asset and a business decision. Because he’ll be worth £8 mill once he has a full season now he’s up to speed with the league. With that in mind they’ll probably spend remaining funds on Saito and plug the other gaps with loans. |
He won't be worth that type of money if we end up being in league one though will he... That's the balance. The future v now [Post edited 9 Aug 11:20]

Esquerdinha is going to struggle at times this season, but I just don’t see how this is any less risky. We should be putting minutes into our own player’s legs.

Agreed. That makes little sense when we've got our own young LBs we're trying to develop. If question marks about them necessitate bringing in someone new, it ought to be a gnarly old experienced player. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
The QPR summer transfer rumours thread on 07:48 - Aug 11 with 3736 views | Lblock | With rumours that Larkeche is out for the season with a cruciate and Dunne maybe out till Christmas then plans will have to change slightly. Striker still priority but defence needs muscle as Cook and JCS (who?) won't be giving what they did and the possible loss of Dunne a disaster. I can see an improved offer to Colback now.

Interesting and worrying updates those, where are they coming from?

I'm not a fan of the loan syatem, but Scarles looked more than good enough to play in the Premier in the games he played for West Ham last season. 15 in total (but that might include cup games). I'd be amazed if we could afford his fee & wages, but he would potentially be our best loanee since Karl Walker.
The QPR summer transfer rumours thread on 10:21 - Aug 11 with 3119 views | HammersmithR | I’ve definitely heard Dunne is going to be out for a good while sadly. Not sure about Larkeche. Left back was an issue that should have been addressed in the summer. Still need 2 centre mids. We cannot have Field, Varane and Morgan for the whole season. Madsen is simply not a centre mid. Our injury situation is a joke.

Sorry because off topic, this is the transfer thread but... do I have it wrong or is it this?: Frey and JCS (back in a month) Dunne, Poku and Larkeche (rumoured, can't comment, TBC) Smyth and Varane are back on the weekend. Is there anyone else? I feel like our injury situation has been a lot worse than this in the past From the current window, left back is a necessity for me. One injury to Larkeche and we can't rely on Esquerdinha to play every game in a debut season. I also don't think it's fair on Adamson to stick him out there, that feels like Santos level scapegoating. Hopefully then some CM cover. I'm hopeful with the likes of Talla and Tuck to provide valuable contributions but an experienced player here would be good

IF Dunne rumour is true, it’s more than just losing one of our best players. Think it would be pretty catastrophic for our chances this season.

Of course, but as you say it's just a rumour, we don't know. There's no replacing someone like Jimmy but feel like Mbengue would do well in a similar role. Very impressed by him on the weekend

The QPR summer transfer rumours thread on 11:01 - Aug 11 with 2691 views | cpgerber | I see Harrison Ashby has been getting some game time at Newcastle in preseason. Even started against Atletico Madrid. I liked the look of him, although very naive at times and short of experience.

They're playing him in the midfield 3 btw and he's largely impressed the Newcastle fans with his performance vs Atletico, maybe that's his position after all! Wouldn't have minded him back, thought he was decent towards the end of the season, to come back from all the hate and the long absence from the squad has to say something about the character

Agreed. Think it holes us below the water line at the moment. Two long term injuries to defence at this stage of the game really does put plans into disarray. I actually wouldn't be averse to Saito in as LWB cvoer as well as his favoured further forward role. At least he knows the place. Was hoping Celar would grab a couple off of his static arse early season meaning someone as clueless as us would take hm back to mainland Europe. Alas no. Expect to see the loan quota fulfilled now but even that will be a drain on the budget come January. This club.........

Agree, if Jimmy out Adamson surely becomes 1st choice RB. If we are after the West Ham guy ( and remember the Ronnie Edwards loan was immediate after injuries) would suggest Larkeche serious. Esq will never last a season without cover, so seems logical to me. If Jimmy is long term that is really bad news. Hayden is available and loved it here but I reckon the game model doesn’t have 2 defensive guys in front of the back 4. I’m with others Saito would be great and if Poku injured and Illias playing in the middle actually makes more sense. Dembele moves right wing. What do I know but the overal squad feels stronger on options, especially with Varane and Smyth back next week. Reckon our big Scottish left footed CB will accelerate his development this year. Mbengue played loads of games for Reading at RB according to my Reading mates so maybe not all is lost. I know injuries are part and parcel of the game it’s a shame we are talking about acquisitions to cover those rather than enhance the team.
